Generations

1999–2004 common problems →7.3L and 6.0L Power Stroke diesel, 5.4L V8 and 6.8L V10 gasThe 7.3L diesel's best-known weak spot is the cam sensor; gas engines can blow out spark plugs; 2003–2004 brought the troubled 6.0L.
2005–2007 common problems →6.0L Power Stroke diesel, 5.4L V8 and 6.8L V10 gasFront-end shake is reported on every engine, and the 6.0L diesel needs proof of 'bulletproofing' work.
2008–2010 common problems →6.4L Power Stroke diesel, 5.4L V8 and 6.8L V10 gasFront-end shake and steering wear lead the complaints; the 6.4L diesel is known for radiator leaks and fuel in the oil.
2011–2016 common problems →6.7L Power Stroke dieselFront-end shake is the top complaint by far; the 6.7L's high-pressure fuel pump is the costliest risk, and 2011–2012 add turbo and sensor issues.
2017–2019 common problems →6.7L Power Stroke diesel and 6.2L V8 gasMore than half of all complaints describe front-end shake (death wobble), with no recall issued; several other recalls to check.
2020–2022 common problems →6.7L Power Stroke diesel, 7.3L V8 and 6.2L V8 gasFront-end shake drops sharply; the new 10-speed transmission and a diesel fuel pump recall lead the complaints.
2023–2026 common problems →6.7L Power Stroke diesel (standard and high output), 7.3L V8 and 6.8L V8 gasToo new for clear patterns; recalls are the main things to check, including a do-not-drive brake pedal recall on certain 2025 trucks, axle shafts, a driveshaft weld and software.
