2015 Ford F-350 Super Duty
Recalls and owner complaints reported to NHTSA
Compared with the typical (middle) count of 178 complaints across the 8 model-year 2015 heavy-duty trucks we cover. Best-selling trucks naturally collect more complaints because more of them are on the road.
What owners should know
Covers 2011–2016 · 6.7L Power Stroke diesel and 6.2L V8 gas · Updated 2026-10-01
Most 2011–2016 F-350s have the 6.7L Power Stroke diesel. The F-350 shares its engines, front end and most of its problems with the F-250 of the same years.
We counted 834 owner complaints filed with NHTSA for 2011–2016 F-350s: 726 from 6.7L diesel trucks and 74 from 6.2L gas trucks (identified by VIN). Complaint counts show what owners report most often, not how many trucks have a problem.
At a glance
- Front-end shake ("death wobble") is the most frequently reported problem by far: 4 in 10 diesel complaints (291 of 726).
- The high-pressure fuel pump (CP4.2) is the most expensive known 6.7L failure.
- 2011–2012 trucks have extra early problems: turbochargers, exhaust temperature sensors and NOx sensors.
- The 6.2L gas engine draws far fewer complaints and has a simple, durable reputation.
Front-end shake ("death wobble")
Owners describe a violent shaking of the front end and steering wheel after a bump at highway speed. Ford released a service bulletin in 2011 that added a new steering stabilizer, but owners frequently report that the shake comes back unless worn parts are replaced, especially the track bar and its bushings, plus ball joints and tie rods. Bigger tires and lifts make it more likely.
When buying: have a helper rock the steering wheel with the engine running while you watch the track bar ends for movement. Hit bumps at 50–70 mph on the test drive.
High-pressure fuel pump (CP4.2)
When the 6.7L's Bosch CP4.2 pump fails, it can send metal through the whole fuel system, and the repair often means replacing the pump, injectors, lines and rails. Owners commonly describe bills of $8,000 or more. Failures are commonly linked to water or contamination in the fuel. Ford's 2024 CP4 recall covers 2020–2022 trucks only, not these years.
When buying: ask for fuel filter service records and whether the pump has ever been replaced.
2011–2012 early-production issues
- Turbocharger: early turbos used ceramic bearings that frequently failed; Ford later switched to steel bearings. Ask whether the turbo was replaced.
- Exhaust gas temperature (EGT) sensors can cause power loss or shutdowns (26 F-350 complaints). Ford recalled 2011–2015 F-350s with ambulance or fire truck packages for this (recall 15V175000), but not regular pickups.
- NOx sensors (2011): Ford ran a program to replace them on 2011 trucks.
Emissions, cooling and rust
- DEF and NOx sensor problems come up in 34 diesel complaints. Look for exhaust fluid warnings and ask whether the emissions system has been removed ("deleted").
- Radiator leaks and leaks at the upper radiator hose fitting and coolant bottle are commonly reported on 6.7L trucks.
- Check cab corners, rocker panels, wheel arches and cab mounts for rust in salt-belt states.
Maintenance tips for owners
Ford's published intervals for these years (use "severe" if you tow, plow or idle a lot): engine oil every 10,000 miles (5,000 severe), both fuel filters every 22,500 miles (15,000 severe), and transmission fluid every 150,000 miles (50,000 severe). Drain the water separator whenever the dash says "water in fuel."

Common failures & how to fix them
Parts and video buttons search for your 2015 Ford F-350 Super Duty. Always confirm a part fits using your VIN. Brakes, steering, fuel and airbag work affects your safety, so if you're not sure, have a qualified mechanic do it.
Front-end shake (death wobble)
Moderate DIYSigns: Violent shaking of the steering wheel and front end after hitting a bump, usually at 45+ mph. Slowing down hard is often the only way to stop it.
Fix: Find and replace the worn parts, most often the track bar or its bushings, then check ball joints, tie rod ends, the drag link and alignment. A new steering stabilizer alone usually only hides the problem.
High-pressure fuel pump (CP4) failure
Easy DIYSigns: Sudden stalling or no-start, low fuel pressure codes, metal in the fuel filter. Often there's little warning.
Fix: Prevention is the fix you can do: change both fuel filters on schedule, drain the water separator, and buy fuel from busy stations. Some owners add a kit that keeps pump debris away from the injectors. A failed pump usually means a full fuel system replacement at a diesel shop.
6.7L exhaust temperature (EGT) sensor failure
Moderate DIYSigns: Check engine light, reduced power, or the engine shutting down. Most common on 2011–2012 trucks.
Fix: Scan for codes to find which sensor failed and replace it. There are four on the exhaust.
6.7L coolant leaks
Moderate DIYSigns: Low coolant, a sweet smell, dried coolant crust on the upper radiator hose fitting, radiator or coolant bottle.
Fix: Find the source. The upper radiator hose O-ring is a common and simple fix. Radiators and coolant bottles are bigger jobs.
6.7L DEF heater and NOx sensors
Moderate DIYSigns: DEF or exhaust fluid warnings, reduced power, check engine light.
Fix: Scan for codes. Common fixes are a NOx sensor or the DEF heater and pump assembly.

What component or system failed? The Steering and Suspension system failed. Specifically, the front axle hubs, track bar, and U-joints failed, causing a violent loss of steering control known as "Death Wobble." These components are currently available for inspection; however, they were diagnosed as "FAILED" and requiring immediate replacement to make the vehicle safe to drive. How was safety put at risk? The failure caused violent, uncontrollable shaking of the steering wheel and front end at highway speeds. This resulted in a near-total loss of directional control, putting the driver and surrounding traffic at immediate risk of a collision. The defect made the vehicle impossible to steer safely above 45 MPH. Has the problem been confirmed? Yes. The failure was reproduced and confirmed by an independent certified service center, AutoNation Ford Gulf Freeway. Their inspection explicitly diagnosed the front axle hubs, track bar, and U-joints as "FAILED" and unsafe. The repair estimate to correct these safety defects totaled 6,128.09. Has the vehicle been inspected? Yes. It was inspected by AutoNation Ford Gulf Freeway (a certified Ford dealership) immediately following the incident. Were there warning symptoms? The symptoms (violent wobble) appeared immediately after purchasing the vehicle. During the pre-purchase test drive, the selling dealer's agent physically manipulated the steering wheel ("pulled the wheel") to prevent the wobble from occurring, concealing the pre-existing safety defect. The failure manifested fully as soon as the vehicle was driven at highway speeds without the agent's interference. Summary: The vehicle was sold with critical safety components (hubs, track bar) in a "FAILED" state. The selling dealer (AutoNation Ford Corpus Christi) concealed this known safety hazard. The vehicle is currently a roadway hazard until the 6,100 repairs are completed.

My truck started "The Death Wobble" a few years ago. I have replaced shocks, tires and ball joints. The problem recently became almost undriveable on the highway as any small bump at a legal (70 MPH) triggered 5 instances on a trip to and from a destination that was 70 miles away via the interstate. I have ordered additional parts based on internet research to try to fix this issue, however in my research it is clear the is a COMMON issue. Why is this allowed to continue?

On June 9, 2026, the vehicle received a PCM reprogramming under Ford Recall 21E01. Before the update, the transmission had no symptoms: no slipping, no warning lights, and no diagnostic trouble codes. Between June 9 and August 11, the vehicle accumulated 1,894 miles. On August 11, 2026, while driving about 60 mph, the vehicle suddenly downshifted from sixth to fifth gear without input. A clunk was felt, followed by complete loss of all gears. There were no warning lights, no diagnostic trouble codes, and no limp‑mode activation. The failure was sudden and total. A diesel shop retrieved the strategy values after the incident, which showed no recorded indication of transmission degradation prior to the PCM update. The failure occurred less than 2,000 miles after the PCM reprogramming. The vehicle was in factory‑stock condition. The incident raises concern that the updated PCM calibration may have affected torque calculation, shift coordination, or diagnostic monitoring, resulting in an uncommanded downshift and loss of all gears without protective response.

2015 Ford F350 6.7 liter Diesel Turbocharger with only 58,000 miles malfunctioned while accelerating on to freeway without any prior warning indicators or symptoms. Immediately engine acceleration was reduced drastically causing freeway cars to nearly rear end my vehicle and other cars swerving to avoid accident. A message showed up simultaneously while reduced acceleration occured on vehicle’s dash display indicating something to the effect “Reducing Acceleration” and a yellow check engine icon lit up on dash display. I limped the vehicle to the side of Freeway and shut engine off. Upon restarting engine discovered engine and turbo operated properly and was able to drive vehicle to a non-Ford Service Center to be repaired. The Technician could not find anything wrong with the operation of the engine-turbocharger and cleared the trouble code. Drove vehical for approximately 500 miles and the same reduced acceleration problem re-occurred while accelerating on to freeway. Pulled vehicle over to safe area, shut engine off, re-started engine, engine and turbocharger operated properly, drove home and then to Ford Dealership (check engine icon still lit). Discovered vehicle can not be smog tested with this intermittent problem due to check engine icon. My safety, my passengers safety, and others safety while driving on the freeway were put at high risk. The reduced acceleration problem does reoccur. Ford diagnosed the vehicle problem to be a bad turbo with an estimate of $5,100 dollars for removal and replace with new Ford Turbocharger which only has a two year warranty. The repair work is currently in process. I consider this turbocharger to be pre-mature failure and a safety risk! This turbocharger intermittent failure in my opinion should be a mandatory recall and paid 100% by Ford.

The touch screen interface is misaligned and occasionally not working at all. The misalignment means that to activate a button the driver must click somewhere else in the screen than the location where the button is displayed. This offset appears to change infrequently. This cause the driver to have to hunt for the location where the button responds and not pay attention to the road. If the wrong location is touched it may open random menus or start unintended functions, causing additional distractions and requiring multiple screen interactions. The car does not have physical buttons for most functions. On several occasions I found myself drifting out of lane due to this problem.

Was driving on highway on December 10, 2020 and when entered bridge doing approximately 70 mph experienced extremely violent frontend shaking (death wobble). Had to pull to shoulder of highway and stop to reduce it. This occurred again during same trip under similar conditions. Thought something on frontend had broken, but all seemed to be alright upon visual inspection. Plan to take into Ford dealership on December 12 to have it inspected. Truck has 118,000 miles on it. This is a very dangerous situation as it occurs at higher speeds and could result in accident.

1/4/2022 – TRAVELING TO SOUTHERN OHIO IN F-350. Engine light came on. Truck info screen showed Exhaust Fluid System Fault – indicating truck would lock to 50 mph within a certain number of miles, then possibly shut down. Finally got in touch with Ford dealership in Chillicothe and took truck there. They determined it was a DEF heater and pump causing the issue, and that it would be covered by Ford as an extended warranty issue. Ford decided our truck was not covered. On 1/11, Ford added a new campaign – 21M01, Reductant Heater and Sender Assembly, covering the cost of replacement of these items. We were told we needed to pay the repair and Ford would reimburse. To this date, we have not been reimbursed - in fact have pretty much been ignored. The sensor recalibration they did caused the particulate filter to fail. Ford has said they won't replace, even though service manager has said the filter failed because Ford had them recalibrate the sensor. We could have been stranded 140 miles from home because of this design fault that Ford knows about - but is not being forced to take care of. Our truck has less than 64000 miles on it and was purchased new by me in April 2014. Will you please strongly encourage Ford to stand by this defective equipment they have installed in their vehicles, as their 'customer satisfaction campaigns' do not adequately encourage them to fix these faulty issues. Volkswagen and Audi both stand by their defective equipment. Consumer wants assistance getting Ford to pay for repairs.

Truck began to shake violently and did not stop shaking until I slowed to 20 mph. Safety risk of not being able to control the vehicle and having to slow on busy highway. The problem has not been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer. The components have not been inspected by manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others. No warnings or other symptoms.

The vehicle goes into a violent shaking of the front end and steering wheel (Ford death wobble). It has happened many times in the last two or so years. It can start at any time when the truck is traveling over 60 MPH but it is usually associated with a bump in the road. It usually stops when I slow to 40-45 MPH. I replaced the track bar ball joint and the steering stabilizer shock and the truck didn't shake for several months but now the problem has returned. When the problem started the truck was probably under 100,000 miles and now has a bit over 130,0000.

I have a 2015 F350 and I have experienced the "Death Wobble" I was hauling my 5th wheel RV and I was going 60 MPH and it felt like my entire front axel was getting ready to fall off my truck. I have my family of 4 in the vehicle. Both of my sons ages 8 and 3 years of age, my wife and myself. It was by far the scariest this I have ever experienced. Ford knows about the problem and still has not issued a recall. I am wanting to file a class action lawsuit.

On May 27, 2022, during a routine cleaning of the vehicle, cracks were discovered in both American Force wheel front tire rims . Cracks have developed in both front rims as shown in the attached photos. These dangerous defects represent a risk to the safety of the vehicle operator. On May 28, 2022 I took the vehicle to Discount Tire (a certified dealer for American Force wheels) in Clermont, FL for an inspection and evaluation. The technician who worked with me agreed that my assessment was correct and that a serious and potentially dangerous defect in workmanship or materials was present, and that it did possibly represent a risk to the safety of the operator.

Dealer said no big deal, it hasn't failed yet. I am the original owner. Truck is not used for plowing or business. To me it looks like it was built with the wrong bracket or to short a line but I know the line should not go thru the spring. The potential for abrasion on the line is high. I was driving about 65 mph and my truck started to vibrate and then the rear tire blew and I was able to pull over and inspect. Upon inspecting half of the tread had separated and came off and damaged my truck bed. This tire is available for inspection. I am very lucky to have been able to control the truck. Myb9 yr old son was in there and worst case scenario we could have hit other cars or rolled the truck and possibly injuries or death could have occurred. I've read other complaints of the samething happening to other drivers. Michelin had recall on tires similar to this one before for tread separation. Is it related somehow? The truck and tire has been inspected by insurance and auto body shop and NTB tire manager. The NTB manager couldn't say what caused it. They have never seen this kind of blowout before. And recommended to keep pursuing something. But Michelin won't do anything except to buy my actions with a 40% off of new tires. I wish somebody would investigate Michelin. There's so many reports out there on these tires separation and sidewall being blown out. It's going to be very unfortunate for somebody to lose their life because of these tires.

I have the tire for inspection. This could have caused a bad accident on the interstate. My son and I was in danger of wrecking the truck. I'm waiting on the insurance to contact me. No warning lights. I feel like Michelin has had several issues with tread separation before. It look like a tractor trailer exploded. Tire size is 275/65 R20 Michelin LTX A/T2

TRAVELING ON A PAVED ROAD. SPEED LIMIT 45 MPH. IT WAS RAINING. NO PUDDLING WAS ENCOUNTERED. I ENTERED A SLIGHT LEFT TURN AND ENCOUNTERED A WASHBOARD TYPE BUMP. IMMEDIATELY, THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE VIBRATED EXCESSIVELY. I RELEASED THE GAS PEDAL AND PUSHED SLIGHTLY ON THE BRAKES. THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE STARTED TO VIBRATE AND THE REAR AXLE LOST TRACTION ALLOWING THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE TO SWING VIOLENTLY TO THE RIGHT. I IMMEDIATELY WENT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE LESS THAN 10 DAYS AGO. SERVICE BROUGHT IT IN AND I EXPLAINED THE ISSUE OF LOSS OF CONTROL AND AN UNSAFE CONDITION. THE SERVICE ADVISOR IMMEDIATELY TOLD ME TO "PUT WEIGHT IN THE BACK OF THE TRUCK. THAT'S NORMAL." I INVOLVED THE SERVICE MANAGER WHO WENT WITH ME OVER THE SAME ROUTE THAT CAUSED THE SAFETY ISSUE. HE SAID, "I SEE WHAT YOU WERE TALKING ABOUT." THE DEALERSHIP TOOK THE TRUCK IN FOR INSPECTION. NOTHING WAS FOUND MECHANICALLY. DURING THE INSPECTION, THE REAR TIRE PRESSURE WAS LOWERED TO 65 PSI INSTEAD OF THE RECOMENDED 80 PSI THAT WAS SET PRIOR FROM THE MANUFACTURER. THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR SYSTEM WAS RE-CALIBRATED TO SHOW THE LOWERED TIRE PRESSURE. FRONT PRESSURES WERE LEFT AT THE RECOMMENDED 65 PSI. I AM NOW CONCERNED WITH EXCESSIVE TIRE WEAR RUNNING THE TIRES UNDER-INFLATED. THE DEALERSHIP CALLED FORD AND WAS ADVISED IT IS A "NORMAL CONDITION" TO ALMOST ROLL OVER A PICKUP WITH SUCH A STIFF SUSPENSION WITHOUT A LOAD IN THE BACK CONSTANTLY. FORD IS UNAWARE OF ISSUE. LOWERED TIRE PRESSURES SLIGHTLY IMPROVED THE SAFETY ISSUE ON PAVEMENT, HOWEVER: YESTERDAY I WAS TRAVELING ON A ROAD THAT HAD THE PAVEMENT REMOVED DOWN TO DIRT FOR REPAVING. I AGAIN HIT A WASHBOARD, THIS TIME GOING STRAIGHT AND 25 MILES PER HOUR. THE SAME VIBRATE/SHAKING OCCURRED AND THE BACK END AGAIN SWUNG TO THE RIGHT WITHOUT ANY BRAKING WHATSOEVER. I WAS CLOSE TO LOSING CONTROL. *TR
