2006 Ram 2500
Recalls and owner complaints reported to NHTSA
Compared with the typical (middle) count of 384 complaints across the 4 model-year 2006 heavy-duty trucks we cover. Best-selling trucks naturally collect more complaints because more of them are on the road.
What owners should know
Covers 2003–2009 · 5.9L and 6.7L Cummins diesel, 5.7L Hemi V8 gas · Updated 2026-10-01
These were sold as Dodge Ram trucks (Ram became its own brand in 2010). Engines are the 5.9L Cummins diesel (2003 to early 2007), the 6.7L Cummins diesel (mid-2007 on) and the 5.7L Hemi gas V8. The badge on the engine or the paperwork tells you which one you have.
We counted 4,718 owner complaints filed with NHTSA for 2003–2009 Ram 2500s and 3500s: 2,378 from 5.9L trucks, 859 from 6.7L trucks and 779 from Hemi trucks (identified by VIN). Complaint counts show what owners report most often, not how many trucks have a problem.
At a glance
- Steering parts are the most frequently reported mechanical problem. Chrysler recalled the left tie rod, which can break, on 2003–2012 4x4s.
- Front-end shake ("death wobble") is commonly reported on all engines.
- Airbag recalls (Takata): many complaints are from owners waiting on replacement parts. Make sure they were done.
- 5.9L Cummins: injectors and the lift pump. Early 6.7L: emissions parts (EGR, DPF, turbo actuator).
Steering and front end
Steering parts come up in 728 complaints, and front-end shake in 446. Chrysler recalled these trucks because the left tie rod assembly may break, which can cause loss of steering control (recall 13V528000 for 2003–2008, 13V529000 for 2008–2012, plus earlier linkage recalls 09V005000 and 11V350000).
Owners on forums most often report fixing the shake by replacing worn parts: track bar, tie rods, drag link and ball joints.
When buying: confirm the tie rod recalls are done. Have a helper rock the steering wheel while you watch the steering linkage and track bar for play, and hit bumps at highway speed on the test drive.
Airbag recalls
442 complaints on 5.9L trucks alone mention airbags. Most are owners who got Takata airbag recall notices but had to wait for parts. Several airbag inflator recalls cover these years (including 15V312000, 15V313000 and 16V352000). These are serious safety recalls, so check that every one shows as completed.
5.9L Cummins (2003–2007)
Widely respected for durability. Commonly reported problems are injectors (often linked to fuel contamination or high mileage), weak lift pumps that cause low fuel pressure and hard starts, and the automatic transmission when towing heavy. Transmission problems come up in 200 complaints on these trucks.
6.7L Cummins (mid-2007–2009)
The first 6.7L trucks added a diesel particulate filter and EGR system without diesel exhaust fluid. Repair sources commonly report DPF clogging, EGR cooler problems and turbo actuator failures. Chrysler recalled some 2007–2008 trucks for a pad that can sag onto the EGR cooler (recall 08V641000). Ask whether the emissions system has been removed ("deleted"), which can cause inspection and legal problems.
5.7L Hemi
The Hemi trucks share the same steering and airbag recalls. Owners also commonly discuss a ticking noise, often from broken exhaust manifold bolts.
Rust
At this age, check the cab corners, rocker panels, wheel arches, frame and brake lines.
Before you buy
- Check open recalls at nhtsa.gov/recalls with the VIN, especially the tie rod and airbag recalls.
- Get a pre-purchase inspection. Use a diesel shop for a Cummins.
- Bring our used truck inspection checklist.

Common failures & how to fix them
Parts and video buttons search for your 2006 Ram 2500. Always confirm a part fits using your VIN. Brakes, steering, fuel and airbag work affects your safety, so if you're not sure, have a qualified mechanic do it.
Left tie rod can break
Dealer (recall)Signs: Loose or wandering steering, clunks, or play in the steering linkage.
Fix: Covered by Chrysler recalls on 2003–2012 4x4 trucks. Many owners also upgrade to a heavy-duty tie rod and drag link.
May be covered free by recall 13V528000 / 13V529000. Check the VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Front-end shake (death wobble)
Moderate DIYSigns: Violent shaking of the steering wheel and front end after hitting a bump, usually at 45+ mph. Slowing down hard is often the only way to stop it.
Fix: Find and replace the worn parts, most often the track bar or its bushings, then check ball joints, tie rod ends, the drag link and alignment. A new steering stabilizer alone usually only hides the problem.
5.9L Cummins weak lift pump
Moderate DIYSigns: Hard starts, low power under load, low fuel pressure.
Fix: Test fuel pressure and replace the lift pump. Many owners upgrade to an aftermarket lift pump.
5.9L Cummins injector wear
Hard DIYSigns: Hard starts, smoke, rough idle, knocking.
Fix: Have injectors tested and replaced as a set. Use the correct injector type for the year, because early and late versions are different.
6.7L Cummins turbo actuator / EGR problems (2007–2009)
Best left to a shopSigns: Low power, boost control codes, frequent exhaust cleaning cycles.
Fix: Diagnose with a scan tool. Common fixes are a turbo actuator, EGR valve cleaning or replacement, and DPF cleaning.
5.7L Hemi exhaust ticking
Hard DIYSigns: Ticking that's loudest on a cold start and fades as the engine warms up.
Fix: Usually broken exhaust manifold bolts. Replace the bolts and gasket.

I took my vehicle into the dealership. Almost three weeks ago for a recall on the front end, a steering component. However, they told us that the parts were back ordered several days after the vehicle had been there for three weeks. And then all of a sudden, they call and a week and a 1 after that. And send a vehicle is done. I picked up the vehicle yesterday and it is not fixed. The problem still exists. We just about crashed on the freeway coming home when it started to do the death wobble shake that dodge ram is known for we nearly wrecked the truck on the freeway. It is not safe to drive. And the problem is not fixed. We have had nothing but problems with this dealership. In the past, and I believe they said they performed the recall safety issue. However, the truck was never fixed. We have pictures and proof

We were driving down the highway and it started doing the death wobble.
- Filed Nov 2022
The truck is currently at a service station as it developed a "death wobble" while driving down the freeway a shimmed so hard I couldn't control it but managed to get it to the side of the road and finally to a stop. I did not receive any type of warning. I am being told by the mechanic at the service station it is going to require a rebuild of the front suspension. After checking to see if this has been a recall issue, I found there had been 3 but I did not receive notification of this particular recall. Not sure if the age of the truck prevents me from going back to have Dodge resolve this issue. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Headlights- the passenger side headlight would come on then go off whenever it wants to and now the low beam does not work. I have tested the connection and replaced the bulb several times and still does not work. When driving at night it makes it difficult to see. And is also against the law to not having working headlights. Trailer lights- the drivers side brake light/blinker on any trailer that’s hooked to my truck does not work. I have taken it the a local shop (street dynamics which is out of business now) several times over the last 5 years to see if they can fix the issue. The fix was to put a jumper wire from the truck brake light to the trailer connector. I still do not have a blinker on the driver side of the trailer. Windshield wipers- the windshield wipers will come on and off whenever they want. Some times when it is raining they will turn on with the switch then will turn off while driving or will stay on after the switch is turned off. The switch has been replaced and did not change anything. It is dangerous to drive the truck during inclement weather. I am a Police officer and have been for 17 years. In the last 12 plus years I have owned the truck which is a 2006 Dodge 2500 I have been told by several dodge technicians and mechanics that the issues I’m having is being caused by the TIPM. While researching the tipm I have found out all of my trucks issues are similar to a lot of other people’s 2006 dodge 2500s. I have had issues with the trailer brake lights since I bought it.
- Filed Aug 2021
The TIPM module is bad. This part controls quite a bit of electrical current to various areas of the vehicle. It stalls when stopped at a traffic light, it is not sending the brake light information to an attached trailer (left side only), gauges inside the vehicle have stopped working (to name a few of the items being affected by this control). This part can be inspected as it is currently still on the vehicle. Safety is a concern due to either not being able to move out of the roadway, and also when pulling a trailer as no one will see turn signals or brake lights on the tow vehicle as the power isn't going to the trailer lights. I was informed of the malfunction at a trailer dealership. The problems have been getting worse over the last 4 years of ownership of this vehicle. The check engine light is currently on, even though what the computer read out gave has now been repaired. There has currently been no accident that this vehicle has been involved in.

1. The Panic Alarm randomly goes off without be activated by anyone. Possibly a TIPM issue which couldn't be investigated because it randomly went away. Maybe it will go off in the middle of the night in my subdivision. Who knows it's unpredictable. 2. Right Turn Signal & Stop Light would not work on the trailer. I confirmed that it wasn't an issue with the trailer but it was a problem with the TIPM (Totally Integrated Power Module) Output (not working). The TIPM has a LONG history of intermittent electrical failures. This is a Safety Issue and a vehicle investigation for ALL vehicles that have TIPMS. TIPMS have been known to cause random vehicle stall & other intermittent random electrical failures and shut downs since 2006 when they were first put in vehicles. A RECALL is long overdue because this is ONLY 1 example of a minor problem. I've only owned the vehicle for 1 week...what's next? TIPMS can cause the vehicle to act intermittently crazy.

This happened on my 2006 Dodge 2500 truck. I have had this truck since brand new and have maintained vigorously. Fortunately I was only going 25mph on the back road from my house. If this had happened on the highway I may not be here to tell this story. I felt like I had a flat tire so i stopped and didn't see anything so I started again and drove about a foot and then heard this loud crunching sound. I got out to find the center of my wheel had separated for the inside of the wheel. When I bought the truck I got the premium wheel package. The chrome covers are made on the wheel. I think what happened is because the chrome covers are made on the wheel there is no way to see that the wheel is rusting from the inside out and the owner has no idea they are driving a time bomb waiting to happen. My truck is almost rust free. I always took care to wash the salt off it in the winter 3 or 4 times a week. The truck has spent the last 10 years in Florida. I have never in my life ever seen this happen. I have no idea where the hub cap or the chrome cover went.

IN JANUARY OF THIS YEAR THE BLEND AND MODE CONTROL DOORS FAILED ON MY 2006 DODGE RAM. WHEN THESE COMPONENTS FAIL, THE DRIVER IS EITHER UNABLE TO ADJUST THE TEMPERATURE OF THE HEATING/COOLING SYSTEM, THEY ARE UNABLE TO CONTROL THE AIR FLOW (IE: FLOOR, DASH, WINDSHIELD), OR IN MY CASE- BOTH. LIVING IN A NORTHERN CLIMATE, IT IS AN ABSOLUTE NECESSITY TO HAVE A FUNCTIONING DEFROST SYSTEM. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN AS DRIVER VISIBILITY CAN BE GREATLY LIMITED. AFTER THE FAILURE, I DID SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND MANY CASES OF THE SAME FAILURE BEING EXPERIENCED BY OTHER RAM OWNERS. THE FAILURE IS SO COMMON THAT YOU CAN EASILY FIND SEVERAL WRITE UPS ON THE ISSUE AND DETAILS ABOUT HOW SOMEONE CAN FIX THE PROBLEM WHEN IT HAPPENS IF THEY CANNOT AFFORD THE OBSCENE PRICE THAT DODGE DEALERSHIPS WANT TO CHARGE TO FIX THE PROBLEM. The pickup has had issue with being very difficult to come out of park. Upon searching internet is seems this is very common and expensive to fix being one of two (or both) things. The shift cable linkage and bushings premature wear, or the valve body release allowing the shifter to be removed from park. Either way concern is this will fail causing inability to shift safely into park and prevent an accident. Extremely unsafe. I have been advised this was already corrected by qualified dealer, but no change. Vehicle has just under 93,000 miles on it and only highway

This is a safety concern I have faced on multiple occasions with this pickup. I have owned it since new and kept up on maintenance and recalls. Today it happened again. What it is, the windshield wipers will erratically wipe, sometimes not wipe, not shut off, as well as come on at random. I reside in the wet side of the state of Oregon where it can be super dangerous to loose wipers in a torrential downpour of rain or snow. This pickup get use predominately for pulling trailers, which yet again adds another layer of danger when I lose much visibility of the road ahead of me. The first time this got really bad I took it to the dealer out of warranty and they diagnosed for three hours to tell me it was 90% probable that it was the Total Ingratiated Power Control Module. I said yes I will pay the total combined $1,400 to hopefully fix the problem. At times after this it has had occasional issues. Today, [XXX], it was acting about like it did the years ago that the dealer extracted, what I felt to be good money, to fix windshield wipers. I suspect in the round of diagnosis they may have messed with the wiper motor and made things marginally better for the years that I have since got out of it. On the dealer fix I researched the problem and it seemed to be kinda common in 2006 Dodge Rams at the time. Today I was doing more research to go about fixing this problem myself since the dealer fix has always been unsatisfactory to me. In this research I found two recalls for 2008-2009 Dodge Rams (NHTSA campaign #s 09V08400 & 09E009000) with what sound to be the same problem. Did a little more digging and between the part numbers, the parts appear to be the same between the model year 2006 & 2008 Dodge Ram, 2500 SLT diesel engine (this probably true to other trim and drive train too). Should this recall be extended to other vehicles that also share the same part, if it is truly the same part off the factory floor? I know I fight similar trouble. November 2022-While trying to use my windshield wipers to clean my front windshield I noticed I could not turn them off plus they would move super fast then very slow. Over the next few months my windshield wipers would sometimes work normal but now they are consistently running sporadically: running fast, slowing down starting and stopping on their own. This is a very dangerous situation during a rain storm and I am going to take my truck into the dealer for repair but for safety reasons, this needs to get looked into for recall.

During a recent snowstorm, the windshield wipers started acting erratically. The wiper delay function no longer works. The wipers operate at one speed, when they work, and do not turn off when I turn the switch off. They seem to time out after awhile and stop wherever they happen to be on the windshield, not the lower parked position.

It took about 1 1/2 hour to drive 10 miles because of rain bands from the storm. The wipers stopped working at regular speed and moved in slow motion at high speed, then stopped working altogether.

I do not believe this is a safety issue, but has cost me an average of $1000.00 each time (x3). The last visit I had the cooling system replaced (2019) and here again the same problem has happened again. This first time I had the dealer fix it and I recall that visit cost me around $2500.00. I still like this vehicle and it runs fine with 124.000 plus miles. But, if I decide to get rid of it it will be because of this A/C problem and will have an impact on what to replace it with.

THE FACT THAT THE NUMBER 4 INJECTOR TUBE (OUT OF 6 TOTAL) IS THE ONLY INJECTOR TUBE THAT APPEARS TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM AND THE FACT THAT FUEL IS SPRAYED ON A HOT ENGINE CREATING A SAFETY ISSUE SHOULD WARRANT FURTHER INVESTIGATION AND DESIGN REVIEW. Replaced it and bought another new one, both new in front now @Sam’s Club. Drove to CA. On the way home, back left tire (drivers side) EXPLODED !! on hwy.10. Lost control of the truck and went off into the center divider, the truck rolled over and was completely destroyed. My wife had a concussion and had to have shoulder surgery due to the roll over. She almost lost her life and I got a hernia from impact. Our dog ( STD. Poodle)was catapulted from backseat about 20ft. Everyone lived. We did all the right things. Tires were inflated correctly, drove speed limit, temp. 75, 9:00am. No traffic. DPS deemed it NO FAULT because the tread that had come off the tire had 10/32nds and was fine. What went wrong????

Tire size was not correct. Actual was lt265/70r17 Rating 121/118S Just had two tires installed on the rear of the said truck. While pulling 5 ton bumper pull trailer, the amount of sidewall flex on these tires made it dangerous to drive. The amount of reverse track, which I don't know how to explain other than when you turn left the back of the vehicle will actually swing out (in the case of a left steering input, the back of the vehicle will go right, racing drivers also call this being lose). When other vehicles especially larger vehicles like semis past my vehicle or even the trailer behind it, it would push the back end of my vehicle and induce a turn... Talk about white knuckle driving .. I only drove about 200 mi to get home after having the cooper tires installed, I'm having them removed immediately as they are extremely dangerous to drive with. When I talked to Cooper they mention these tires were specifically made for Walmart, they are quite cheap. Also, the only reason I bought them is because I was on the side of the road with another tire that had separated tread but it was due to age and needed to get home. Walmart was the only tire place that could install tires. The previous michelins I had on there were great and did not have this issue(only the rear tires were replaced) I am working with Cooper and their satisfaction guaranteed promise, where they will switch them out with different tires and I just pay the difference, but I do not believe these tires should be sold to the public with that weight rating. Sadly just a week before Walmart put on passenger tires on that same truck when it called for light truck tires. But that's a different issue all in itself It almost felt like the tires were under inflated, but they are perfectly at 70 PSI as required by Dodge. I checked this pressure the next day to confirm

TWO TIMES I HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH THE ACCELERATOR STICKING AND THERE WAS NO WAY TO SLOW MY TRUCK DOWN TO GAIN CONTROL. BOTH TIMES IT HAPPENED WHEN I WAS PASSING ANOTHER VEHICLE WHEN I WAS ON HIGHWAY 99 BETWEEN CORVALLIS, OR AND MONMOUTH, OR. BOTH TIMES IT WAS ON A STRAIGHT STRETCH. WHEN I WENT TO PASS, I PRESSED ON THE ACCELERATOR TO GET SOME SPEED. I FLOORED IT. BOTH TIMES THE GAS PEDAL STUCK DOWN TO THE FLOOR AND I WAS NOT ABLE TO GET IT TO RELEASE. THE TRUCK KEPT ACCELERATING TO UP OVER 100 MPH BEFORE THE GAS PEDAL RELEASED AND I WAS ABLE TO GAIN CONTROL OF THE TRUCK AGAIN. NOTHING I DID WOULD GET IT TO RELEASE. IT WAS EXTREMELY SCARY AND I THOUGHT I WAS GOING TO WRECK, IF NOT DIE. I AM NOT SURE WHICH PART CAUSED THIS BUT IT IS CONNECTED TO THE GAS PEDAL. IT MIGHT BE AN INTERNAL COMPONENT, I JUST DON'T KNOW, SO IT IS UNKNOWN. IT SEEMS TO DO IT WHEN THE GAS PEDAL IS FLOORED AS THAT IS WHAT HAPPENED BOTH TIMES TO ME. I WASN'T SURE IF I SHOULD LIST EACH TIME SEPARATELY SO YOU KNEW IT WAS MORE THAN ONCE. I WILL BE TAKING MY TRUCK IN TO BE CHECKED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE SINCE THIS HAS NOW HAPPENED TWICE AND I DON'T WANT THIS TO HAPPEN AGAIN.

TRUCK WILL RANDOMLY HAVE NO THROTTLE RESPONSE EITHER WHILE DRIVING OR COMING FROM A DEAD-STOP. IT HAS ALSO SEEMED TO GET STUCK FOR A FEW SECONDS BEFORE ALSO, WHICH HAS ALSO HAPPENED TWICE. I WAS CROSSING A RAILROAD WHEN THE PEDAL LOST RESPONSE THEREFORE, I HAD TO ROLL OFF OF THE RAILROAD. IT HAS ALSO HAPPENED WHILE I WAS CROSSING AN INTERSECTION WITH A TRAILER. I LOST ALL POWER AND THE THROTTLE WOULDN'T RESPOND. SOMETIMES, WHEN I RESTART THE TRUCK, IT WILL WORK FOR A LITTLE WHILE. OVERALL, IT IS CONSISTENT THEREFORE, IT WORRIES ME WHEN I DRIVE IT BECAUSE IT WILL HAPPEN WITHOUT WARNING.

WHEN I GOT HOME AND TURNED OFF THE TRUCK I CALLED THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THAT IT WAS THE TIPM AND IT WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THEY SAID THE TRAILER I WAS PULLING MUST OF HAD A SHORT AND THATS WHAT CAUSED IT. I TOLD THEM THAT I WASNT PULLING A TRAILER AND THEY CALLED ME A LIAR AND HUNG UP ON ME THE WINDOWS CONTINUED TO ROLL UP AND DOWN UNTILL THE BATT WAS DISCONNECTED. THE NEXT MORNING I THEN HOOKED THE BATTERY BACK UP AND IT ALL WORKED FINE. NO PROBLEM A COUPLE WEEKS LATER IT STARTED AGAIN FINALL FOUND A SHORT IN THE LIGHT CONTROL ON THE RIGHT TAIL LIGHT REPLACED THE PART THAT HOLDS THE BULBS AND THE PROBLEM CORRECTED ITSELF. NOW IT HAS SINCE STARTED DOING IT ALL AGAIN BUT WILL NOT RESET ITSELF I CONTACTED THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THAT THE TIPM WOULD RESET ITSELF FIVE TIMES THEN WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE VEH WAS NOT PULLING A TRAILER WHEN THIS HAPPENED AND THE ONLY TRAILER I PULL WITH IT HAS THE LIGHTING PACKAGE WORKING FINE ON ALL TRUCKS I HOOK IT TO BUT NOT THIS ONE. PLEASE GET THE DODGE COMPANY TO RECALL THESE PEICES OF JUNK IM TIRED OF PAYING 1200 DOLLARS TO REPLACE A BUNCH OF PARTS TO FIND OUT ITS THEIR PIECE OF JUNK TIPM CAUSING ALL THE PROBLEMS.

I OWN A 2006 DODGE RAM 2500 TRUCK WITH APPROXIMATELY 57000 MILES ON IT AND IT STARTED ACTING ERRATICALLY WITH THE LIGHTS AND WIPERS AND NOW THE BATTERY COMPLETELY GOES DEAD. WE HAVE REPLACED THE BATTERY AND CHECKED FOR DRAIN ON THE BATTERY. IN SPITE OF TURNING EVERYTHING OFF AND UNPLUGGING ANYTHING WHICH WOULD CAUSE A DRAIN ON THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM IT STILL MADE A NEW BATTERY GO DEAD. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS TO DRIVE IT WHEN THE WIPERS ACT SO FUNNY AND THE DIMMER SWITCH FAILS TO LOWER THE BEAMS. IT WOULD SEEM THAT THE ONLY SOLUTION IS TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALER AT A CONSIDERABLE EXPENSE TO SEE WHAT IS WRONG. THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD INVESTIGATE AND REPAIR ANY DEFECT IN MATERIALS FOR THE TRUCK WITH THAT FEW MILES ON IT. *TR

1)THE AC / HEATER MOTOR STARTING MAKING A LOUD VIBRATING SOUND AND VERY LITTLE AIR WAS COMING FROM THE VENTS. 2). THE RECIRCULATION DOOR WHICH IS LOCATED ABOVE THE FAN (IN THE DUCT) BROKE AND FELL ON TOP OF THE BLOWER FAN. THIS DOOR CONTROLS WEATHER OUTSIDE AIR IS USED OR THE AIR IS RECIRCULATED THROUGHOUT THE VEHICLE. AS A RESULT THE AC/HEATER AND MOST IMPORTANTLY THE DEFROSTER WOULD NOT WORK. AN INTERNET SEARCH OF THIS PROBLEM REVEALS MANY DIFFERENT DODGE YEARS AND MODELS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. THE PART CAN BE REPLACED BY THE DEALERSHIP FOR A COST OF APPROXIMATELY $700. THE DASH MUST BE REMOVED TO REPLACE THE PART. MOST PEOPLE (ALONG WITH ME) ARE REMOVING THE FAN MOTOR AND SIMPLE REMOVING THE RECIRCULATION DOOR ALTOGETHER WHICH IS A CHEAP SEMI-FIX. ONE BLOG WEBSITE CAN BE SEEN AT HTTP://AUTOFORUM.CLASSIFIEDS1000.COM/DODGE-1500_PICKUP/A_C_FAN_NOISE_EXCESSIVE_A_C_AIR_FLOW_REDUCED?PG=5. 3). THE PART HAS NOT BEEN REPLACED, THE DEALER WILL NOT DO ANYTHING OUTSIDE OF WARRANTY. THE DEFROSTER NOW WORKS AFTER REMOVING THE DOOR, BUT THE AC SYSTEM IS NOT WORKING AS DESIGNED. AS A RESULT OF NOT BEING ABLE TO RECIRCULATE THE AIR, MY COMPRESSOR CLUTCH (WHICH YOU HAVE TO REPLACE THE WHOLE COMPRESSOR) WENT OUT DUE TO OVER WORKING OF THE SYSTEM. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN IF THE DOOR BREAKS AND FALLS ON THE MOTOR. THE FAN CAN RUB ON THE DOOR WHICH CAN GET HOT AND CATCH THE TRUCK ON FIRE AND/OR THE DEFROSTER WILL NOT WORK AND THE WINDOWS CAN FOG UP CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. *TR

I WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH WHEN I NOTICED A STRONG SMELL OF FUEL AND A TRAIL OF WHITE SMOKE COMING FROM MY VEHICLE. I PULLED OFF THE HIGHWAY AT THE NEXT EXIT AND I LOST ALL POWER. I WAS BARELY ABLE TO PULL OVER AND STOP BECAUSE I LOST MY POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKES. IT TOOK A LOT OF EFFORT JUST TO GET STOPPED AND I WAS LUCKY I WAS PULLING OFF THE HIGHWAY IN S STRAIGHT LINE AND I WAS NOT ON A HILL OR A CURVY ROAD. ONCE I GOT PULLED OVER AND STOPPED I NOTICED AN EXTREME AMOUNT OF DIESEL FUEL DRIPPING FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND THE WHOLE UNDER CARRIAGE OF THE TRUCK. THE FIREWALL INSULATION WAS COMPLETELY SATURATED WITH FUEL. THE NUMBER 4 FUEL LINE HAD RUPTURED A LEAK AT THE SEAM BEHIND THE COUPLING NUT AND SPEWED DIESEL FUEL ALL OVER THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT, PROBABLY TWO TO THREE GALLONS WORTH. I HAVE READ SEVERAL COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS YEAR AND MODEL OF THIS VEHICLE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE WITH THE NUMBER 4 FUEL LINE BUT NO OTHER FUEL LINES ON THIS MODEL. I FEEL I WAS VERY LUCKY THAT THE FUEL DID NOT IGNITE OR THE WHOLE VEHICLE WOULD DEFINITELY OF CAUGHT ON FIRE AND THE OUT COME WOULD OF BEEN CATASTROPHIC FOR MY FAMILY THAT WAS IN THE VEHICLE. *TR

SEATBACK RECLINES OR FAILS TO STAY UPRIGHT UNDER NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS. MODEST ACCELERATING FROM STOP SIGN CAN CAUSE SEAT BACK TO DRIFT BACKWARDS WITH A DRIVER OF AVERAGE WEIGHT. BOUNCING OVER POTHOLES, GEAR SHIFTS AND DRIVING UP INCLINES HAVE ALSO CAUSED THE SEAT TO FAIL. *TR

THE DRIVER'S SEAT BREAKS AND TILTS OVER BACKWARDS. THE CASING/GEAR BOX THAT CONNECTS TO THE MOTOR AND MOVES THE DRIVER?S SIDE AUTOMATIC SEAT FORWARD/BACKWARDS AND UP/DOWN SHATTERS AND THE SEAT FALLS OVER BACKWARDS DURING NORMAL ACCELERATION. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE, ONCE AT 30K TRAVELING 65MPH AND THE SECOND AT 45K 10-30MPH BOTH TIMES NEARLY CAUSING AN ACCIDENT EACH TIME. THE FIRST SEAT WAS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY THE SECOND SEAT BROKE IN THE SAME PLACE LESS THAN A YEAR LATER. THE SEAT IS STILL IN MY TRUCK BROKEN AND I HAVE THE SEAT BLOCKED FROM FALLING OVER BACKWARDS WITH A BRICK. BOTH TIMES IT BROKE I WAS ACCELERATING IN TRAFFIC, ONCE AT A STOP LIGHT AND THE OTHER MERGING ONTO THE FREEWAY. BOTH TIMES I NARROWLY AVOIDED HITTING THE CARS AROUND ME. EACH TIME, I WAS TIPPED BACKWARDS INTO THE REAR SEAT SPACE WITH THE DRIVERS SEAT ALMOST HITTING THE SEAT BEHIND ME IF SOMEONE WAS SITTING IN THE REAR SEAT IT COULD HAVE CAUSED INJURY. BOTH TIMES, MY HANDS LEFT THE STEERING WHEEL AND MY FEET LEFT THE PEDALS, I HAD TO SCRAMBLE TO SIT UP AND CORRECT THE VEHICLE. I HAVE TRIED TO CONTACT BOTH THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER AND THEY CONTINUE TO GIVE ME THE ?RUN AROUND? STATING THAT I NEED TO PAY FOR A DIAGNOSIS BEFORE THEY CAN MAKE A DETERMINATION ABOUT REPLACING IT. I HAVE THREE CHILDREN WHO SIT IN BOOSTER SEATS IN THE BACK SEAT; IF THEY WERE WITH ME IT WOULD HAVE BROKEN THE LEGS OF THE CHILD BEHIND ME. IT IS VERY ALARMING, DISTRACTING, AND DANGEROUS TO HAVE THE SEAT TILT TO A 45 WHILE DRIVING. *TR

Good Morning! On April 9, 2023 I was going to pickup my Son in his 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 at LAX. He was returning from a 3 week trip to Chile. After taking the transmission out of gear I attempted to start the truck, but the battery was dead. I got out of the cab and released what I thought was the hood release but released the emergency brake instead. The front wheel was turned at about a 40 deg. angle to the right in my driveway which is on about a 15 deg slope to the street. The truck rolled back pinning my left leg under the left front tire, while the open drivers side door pushed me towards the now moving wheel. the left front wheel continued to roll over my left hand and my right chest grazing my left side of my head. The truck continued to roll down the street and into a neighbors truck. I suffered 13 broken ribs, a collapsed right lung, a partially collapsed left lung, a broken shoulder, and a broken left eye socket bone, deep vein thrombosis in both lower legs, 2 weeks in the ICU, 1 week in the hospital and 1 week in rehab. I am presently in home rehab. The man across the street from me at one time worked as a service manager / mechanic for a local automotive shop, and told me that he has made the same mistake many times of mistaken the emergency brake release for the hood release. I would recommend relocating the brake release to the right of the steering wheel on all vehicles that have a foot actuated emergency brake.

11/21/2013 5:00PM WHILE LEAVING LAKE CASTAIC, I NOTICED ABNORMAL EXCESSIVE PLAY IN THE STEERING OF MY TRUCK. I WAS TOWING MY BOAT AND I ATTRIBUTED THIS TO POSSIBLY BEING TIRED AFTER A LONG DAY ON THE LAKE. I PULLED OVER AT CALGROVE EXIT OFF THE I 5 TO VISUALLY INSPECT MY TIRES AND ANYTHING NOTICEABLY WRONG WITH MY TRUCK. EVERYTHING CHECKED OUT OK, SO I REDUCED MY SPEED AND TOOK PRECAUTION. JUST PRIOR TO BANDINI EXIT (S) 710 WE HEARD A LOUD BANG AND WITHOUT WARNING MY TRUCK VEERED INTO TRAFFIC. THE WHEELS WERE LOCKED WHEN ATTEMPTING TO TURN TO THE RIGHT AND THE WHEEL WOULD TURN FREELY TO THE LEFT, WITHOUT TURNING THE WHEELS. I HAPPEN TO BE A VERY STRONG INDIVIDUAL AND IT TOOK EVERY OUNCE OF STRENGTH TO MAINTAIN STABILITY AND AVOID AN ACCIDENT. A PERSON WITH LESS STRENGTH, WOULD HAVE NEVER BEEN ABLE TO CONTROL MY VEHICLE. TOTAL LOSS OF CONTROL OF A FULL SIZE TRUCK, WHILE TOWING A BOAT ON THE 710 FREEWAY IS A TERRIFYING EXPERIENCE. WITH A STROKE OF LUCK AND A BLESSING, I WAS ABLE TO MANEUVER THE VEHICLE TO THE SHOULDER AND SAFELY EXIT THE FREEWAY. I HAVE SINCE BEEN INFORMED BY CERRITOS DODGE , SERVICE ADVISOR DANIEL MORENO THAT THAT THE STEERING BOX BROKE RESULTING IN TOTAL LOSS OF CONTROL. I CONTACTED CHRYSLER AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT THEY ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE AND WILL OFFER NO ASSISTANCE WITH REPAIRING MY VEHICLE. I WAS TOLD THE REPAIRS WOULD COST $1,689.00 AND I WOULD HAVE TO PAY THIS AMOUNT AND THEN CONTEST CHRYSLER FOR REIMBURSEMENT. I HAD MY TRUCK TOWED OUT OF CERRITOS DODGE AND CURRENTLY SITS IN MY GRANDMOTHER'S DRIVEWAY.

FAULTY FUEL FILTER SYSTEM ON DODGE DIESEL TRUCKS. I HAVE A 2006 DODGE 2500 RAM DIESEL TRUCK WITH 19000 MILES ON IT. I HAD AN ISSUE OF IT LOSING POWER, REPLACED THE FILTER, THEN WITHIN 3000 MILES IT HAPPENED AGAIN. I REPLACED THE FILTER AGAIN, BUT IT STILL DID NOT HELP MUCH. I DROVE TO THE DEALER, AND IT DIED WITHIN A FEW HUNDRED YARDS. FINALLY GOT IT TO THE DEALER, THEY HAD TO TOW IT IN. THE DEALER SAID IT WAS BAD DIESEL THAT PLUGGED THE FUEL INJECTORS AND RUINED THE INJECTION PUMP. THE INSURANCE COMPANY SENT A LAB FOR TESTS, THEY SAY THE FUEL IS NORMAL. NOW I'M STUCK WITH A $10,000.00 REPAIR BILL THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN UNDER WARRANTY WITH DODGE. IF THE FUEL IS NORMAL, WHY WOULDN'T THE FILTER DO IT'S JOB. I'VE SEEN SOME REPORTS ON THE INTERNET THAT SOME DEALERS ARE ADDING A SECOND FILTER ONTO THEIR TRUCKS TO PREVENT THIS. THE SERVICE TECH SAID THEY SEE THIS OFTEN, BUT THE INSURANCE WILL USUALLY PAY. IF THEY SEE IT OFTEN, ISN'T THIS A FAULTY DESIGN???? *TR
