2022 Ford F-150
Recalls and owner complaints reported to NHTSA
Compared with the typical (middle) count of 588 complaints across the 7 model-year 2022 half-ton trucks we cover. Best-selling trucks naturally collect more complaints because more of them are on the road.
Price & value
We don't guess at prices. Get a real value for the exact truck from Kelley Blue Book, then see how the asking price compares.
Is it a good deal?
- Look up the truck on Kelley Blue Book. Choose its cab, trim, options, miles, condition and your ZIP code, and note the private party value (or the fair purchase price if you're buying from a dealer).
- Enter that value and the asking price below.
Enter both numbers to see the deal rating.
The rating only compares the two numbers you enter: within 5% of the value is a good deal, 5–15% under is a great deal, and more than 15% under is a buy-it-now price. Know Your Truck isn't affiliated with Kelley Blue Book. Rust, accident history, lifts and mods, and service records all change what a truck is worth, so always get a pre-purchase inspection.
Owner's manual
Get the free official owner's manual from Ford's owner manual library. Choose 2022 F-150. It covers maintenance schedules, fluids, towing limits and warning lights. Older years may not be listed online.
Recalls
A recall doesn't mean a truck still has the problem. Enter the truck's VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls or ask a dealer to see whether the repair was done.

2022 Ford F-150 10 speed automatic transmission. The issue started with a clunking noise when shifting, then progressed to clunking more often and skipping gears when shifting, now the vehicle gets stuck in gear. This has ultimately left us stranded in traffic when the vehicle will not shift into gear. We have now been told by the dealer that the transmission will need to be replaced, only after their initial incorrect diagnosis to overhaul the differential. I have never owned a vehicle for 4 years that has required such major service due to mechanical issues, not to mention the cost!
- Filed Aug 2026
I am reporting a safety-related transmission problem I'm experiencing with my 2022 Ford F-150 equipped with the 10R80 automatic transmission. While driving normally, the transmission suddenly shakes violently downshifting from 6th to 5th gear and during upshifting from 2nd to 3rd gear. This occurs every single time while accelerating or braking, only in different gears , creating a potentially dangerous situation because the truck did not respond as expected when I needed predictable acceleration or deceleration. I believe this incident may be related to the known 10R80 CDF clutch-cylinder/sleeve problem. Ford technical information identifies axial movement of the CDF sleeve that can cause hydraulic-circuit leaks and harsh or delayed engagement and shifting. This condition can result in slipping, RPM flares, delayed engagement, unexpected gear changes, harsh downshifts, lurching, or loss of propulsion. This is a safety concern, not merely a transmission quality or reliability issue. Unexpected loss of propulsion or unpredictable shifting while merging, accelerating into traffic, crossing an intersection, turning, or traveling at highway speed can create a collision hazard. Also because this violent shaking startles the driver (lot of times it feels like the truck was hit by another car) and can provoke dangerous breaking. This shaking started in April and has not stopped ever since. Because I'm personally experiencing these unexpected transmission events, as well as my wife, I request that NHTSA investigate the 10R80 CDF clutch-cylinder/sleeve condition in Ford F-150s. Please review Ford warranty claims, dealer repair records, transmission replacements, consumer complaints, and field-failure data to determine whether this is a safety defect requiring a recall. I believe owners should not have to wait for a potentially dangerous transmission failure before this known condition is addressed.

My 2022 Ford F-150 has experienced intermittent delayed starting, uneven idle, and hesitation during acceleration. At times, the engine sounds and feels as though it may shut off. I began noticing these symptoms several months ago, and the most recent occurrence was approximately August 2026. I do not recall seeing any warning lamps or warning messages when these symptoms occurred. The vehicle has not yet been inspected or diagnosed by a Ford dealer or independent repair facility for these specific symptoms, and the cause has not been confirmed. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. I am concerned because my vehicle is affected by Ford Recall 25S75 / NHTSA Recall 25V455 involving potential fuel pump failure and loss of fuel pressure, which may result in poor engine performance and engine stalling. I am concerned that the symptoms I am experiencing could create a safety risk if the engine loses power or shuts off while driving.

On two occasions vehicle failed 3-4 upshift and abruptly shifted into first instead. Transmission harshness/flaring. I am experiencing intermittent flaring/slippage and harshness with the 3-4 upshift and 4-3 downshift, 4-5 upshift, and 7-8 upshift. Most of the time, it exhibits as a flare/slip/bogging down during the 3-4 upshift, sometimes accompanied by a slam once it catches. Less often there is a slam during the 4-3 downshift or 3-1 downshift, especially when coming to a stop. The issue is more pronounced when the transmission is cold but does occur when fully warmed up, just far less frequently.

I am reporting a safety-related transmission problem I experienced with my 2022 Ford F-150 equipped with the 10R80 automatic transmission. While driving normally, the transmission suddenly downshifted and slipped gears and jumping up gears. This occurred while taking off and slowing down creating a potentially dangerous situation because the truck did not respond as expected when I needed predictable acceleration or propulsion. Because I personally experienced this unexpected transmission event, I request that NHTSA investigate the 10R80 CDF clutch-cylinder/sleeve condition in Ford F-150s. Please review Ford warranty claims, dealer repair records, transmission replacements, consumer complaints, and field-failure data to determine whether this is a safety defect requiring a recall. I believe owners should not have to wait for a potentially dangerous transmission failure before this known condition is addressed. I had my truck into a dealer in 2025 ( under warranty 44K miles )and they had admitted they were short handed for transmissions and after eight days I called them and they said just come pick it up as they did not find any issues. Fast forward to this year 68K miles and they said it needed to be completely replaced with a new one for $14,000.

i was driving on XXX south to grab some Mexican food for dinner. on the way at one point i smelled something burning like an oil smell. but didnt see anything and suspected it was the old car in front of me. and my f150 was running fine. when i got out at the restaurant i did not see or smell anything around the truck. i went in to find they were closing at 9:00pm and it was 8:40ish. so i left telling them id stop back another day. was driving north on XXX heading home when around the same area of [XXX] 51 I smelled something burning again. once again i didnt see any smoke around my truck, no one was beeping at me or anything. and the truck was running/working well. i figured maybe its someone with a fire in their yard. further down [XXX] about 300 ft before [XXX], i smelled smoke stronger this time and looked up and to my right and saw smoke pouring out of a vent or something on the headliner. realizing that the truck is obviously on fire i wanted to get it off the street asap so as to be less a danger to others. so i turned up [XXX] at the intersection and pulled off the side of the road as far off as i could get the truck. grabbed my phone from the passenger seat and exited the truck in a hurry. as i looked over at the truck i saw flames coming up from underneath between the cab and the bed of the truck - looked to be centered under the truck. i ran about 150 feet from the truck and called 911. i turned around as i was talking to the operator. and the truck was completely ingulfed in flames. thankfully i made it out when i did. The felt under shield on the Ford F150 ha came detached three times. I have replaced it each time. When I returned to the Ford dealer I was told not to replace because it will get wet and fall off again. More importantly they said it was not needed. Its function is to reduce noise and keep mud, dirt, and rain from getting under the vehicle. I was told if I wanted to replace it I could get an after market product made of metal to stop if from breaking. The part that breaks is the felt connection where it screws into the underbody. My point is that if the Ford dealership tells me I don't need it why is it there in the first place? Next, Ford dealerships know this is a problem, there are many complains on the Ford internet sites. Because it has happened so many times to me and others Ford should have a recall and they should pay for the metal replacement. This should be a class action suit because Ford manufacture and Ford dealers know it is a problem, but still sell the vehicle knowing the issue.

I am reporting a safety-related transmission problem I experienced with my 2022 Ford F-150 equipped with the 10R80 automatic transmission. While driving normally, the transmission suddenly did not engage when I turned a corner when in 2nd gear it disengaged and I coasted to side of road safely good thing there was no traffic. I then noticed that the transmission would slip (not hard just slightly 1st-5th gears). This has happened a few times especially when I first start moving. This is creating a potentially dangerous situation because the truck did not respond as expected when I needed predictable acceleration or propulsion. This puts my safety and the safety of others at risk by not being o by reducing visibility of the vehicle during low light scenarios where the headlights are off. Example I live in an area with lots of fog and drive a gray vehicle that is not clearly visible if headlights are off due to light exposure. Problem is consistent and able to be reproduced for inspection. Vehicle has not been inspected by any agent to this point but it is available and will be noticed upon inspection by direction. There are no warning lamps or messages alerting driver of malfunction which poses another safety risk. Problem has been consistent for past 3 weeks upon every start.

Started truck then we heard a loud pop, similar to a gun shot. Then we heard crackling through the speakers. Audio volume controls were ineffective as well as radio on/off controls. Turned truck off and restarted no pop this time but the crackling continued. I called my local Ford dealer to schedule a service appointment for the next afternoon. Then next day when I was driving the truck to work the crackling continued for several minutes then the sound system went back to normal. That afternoon, 12/4 after work I drove the truck to the dealer I had purchased the truck from to drop it off. I reported the situation to the service advisor and he said since the sound system does not throw codes it would not be able to be diagnosed unless the problem duplicated itself which I would have to leave the truck for an extend period of time.

I have a 2022 Ford F-150 Platinum with B&O Sound system. Yesterday, while driving I experienced a loud boom followed by loud staticky crackling sounds coming from the sound system. I thought I had been hit by another vehicle or somebody had thrown something at the car. I stopped immediately to see if glass was broken and got out of vehicle for fear it was going to burn or blow up. The crackling sound continued even after turning off the sound system and turning off the vehicle. The crackling continued for approximately 30 minutes. This morning, I started the car and the crackling sound was not present. This is a safety issue because it caused me to be alarmed and behave in abrupt manner to get out of the car, and may have even caused hearing damage.

I started my 2022 F150 with B/O Audio and an extremely loud blast that sounded like a cannon shot out of the speakers. My volume dial didn't work and loud crackling and popping sounds were coming out of the tweeter speakers. This has been reported many times already. Turning the audio and the entire vehicle off did nothing. Crackling actually would continue when vehicle was turned all the way off for at least 2 minutes, which would indicate some power was still being fed to the speakers for some reason. No warning lamps/messages appeared.

This complaint was already documented here: NHTSA ID Number: 11487857 Turned my truck on to hear a LOUD pop, scared everyone inside. Speakers continued to crackle and pop, at a lower volume. No audio or music played. Thinking it would go away, I continued out of our neighborhood. When it didn't, I stopped and turned the truck off, as well as locking the vehicle, with the same crackling noise coming from the speakers despite everything being shut off. Turned the truck back on and went through audio settings. The only thing that made it stop was switching from "Stereo" to "Surround" mode in the settings.

This morning, as soon as I started the vehicle and started backing down the driveway, an unbelievably loud popping sound emitted from the speakers. I immediately slammed on the brakes having no idea what had just happened. This has happened previously but have not heard in a few months so I thought the problem was corrected. It is the loudest noise I have ever experienced and is extremely dangerous as it happens at different times and is just ear splitting. My ears are still ringing and it happened at 8:45am this morning.

While driving, my 2022 Ford F-150 equipped with the 2.7L EcoBoost experienced abnormal engine operation, a check-engine light, and reduced engine power. The unexpected reduction in available engine power created a safety concern because loss of acceleration or propulsion can be dangerous when merging, crossing traffic, passing, or traveling at highway speeds. The vehicle was inspected and diagnosed by an authorized Ford dealership. The PCM stored DTC P0332, Knock/Combustion Vibration Sensor “B” Circuit Low. The dealer performed Ford Pinpoint Test DG. Testing reportedly found no open circuit, short to ground, short to voltage, or intermittent circuit fault. The dealer determined that the knock-sensor assembly required replacement. The repair involves replacement of Ford knock-sensor assembly FT4Z-12A699-E, which contains both knock sensors. Access to the assembly requires extensive disassembly of engine fuel and cooling-system components. Ford’s service procedure includes removal of both direct-injection fuel rails, draining the cooling system, removal of the coolant pump, and removal of the coolant outlet connector.I am concerned about the possibility of coolant leakage or contamination affecting the knock-sensor assembly because of its location in relation to cooling-system components. I do not currently know whether coolant contamination caused this particular failure. I request that NHTSA investigate whether coolant leakage or contamination in this area contributes to premature knock-sensor failures on 2.7L EcoBoost engines. I have also identified another 2022 Ford F-150 with the 2.7L EcoBoost that was diagnosed by a Ford dealership with a similar knock-sensor circuit-low fault, P0327 also quoted replacement of the same FT4Z-12A699-E assembly. My 2022 Ford F-150 has experienced intermittent delayed starting, uneven idle, and hesitation during acceleration. At times, the engine sounds and feels as though it may shut off. I began noticing these symptoms several months ago, and the most recent occurrence was approximately August 2026.

I purchased a 2022 Ford F150 in September 2024. I began to notice occasional sluggishness when accelerating as the weather warmed up around March 2025. I contacted my local Ford dealership sharing the issue. The service manager suggested I consistently use a high octane fuel, which I consistently do, explaining I may just have "bad gas". The problem continued primarily when I was in heavy traffic with high temperatures. The truck acted as if it had a clogged fuel injector, sluggishness from start, low idle reducing below 1,000 RPM. I contacted a privately owned mechanic shop advising of my idle issues. The mechanic stated he doesn't believe a fuel injector would clog at 50,000 miles. In June 2025 received notification of a recall for my vehicle which I confirmed by VIN. The recall (#25V455) summarized the vehicle could sustain a loss of fuel pressure and flow from the fuel tank due to fuel pump failure. The letter continued, I may experience poor engine performance, rough idle or reduction in power, the same issues I had been complaining about. I contacted the Ford dealership and they explained Ford had not determined how to remedy the problem. Fast forwarding to present, 3 August 2026, over a year since the recall letter and Ford has yet to remedy the problem. What's the hold up? Will Ford finally determine the remedy when my family is killed on the interstate because the vehicles fuel pump fails and it stalls? It appears to be apparent Ford does not want to take the financial hit of such a recall. This is unacceptable and needs to be looked into by the NTSB.

What happened: On [early July 2026], while towing a cargo trailer at low speed, the electric parking brake engaged unexpectedly. The brake continued to engage repeatedly throughout the duration of travel. Eventually, the parking brake circuit lost power entirely, which is when the repeated engagement stopped. What component failed? The rear axle wiring harness (part of recall 23S35). The harness had chafed against the rear axle housing, causing an electrical short that resulted in repeated unintended parking brake activation. The short eventually compromised the entire circuit, causing loss of power to the brake. How was safety put at risk? A towing vehicle with an unexpectedly engaged parking brake creates immediate risk of loss of control, especially while actively towing cargo. The repeated activations while operating the vehicle could have caused the trailer to jackknife or the truck to slide. This malfunction occurred despite a prior recall repair performed in Quebec under the same recall number (23S35). Adaptive cruise control applies brakes at varied levels from light to full stop when passing vehicles on the left in an open highway setting when no vehicle is present ahead. Speed range is approx 65-75mph. Other conditions are Interstate highway open road, sunny to partly cloudy, and problem occurs when passing and a longer vehicle (CL8 or other vehicle with trailer is present on the right), no other unusual or notable conditions can be remembered at this time. Other vehicles following in trail were often surprised and required immediate throttle engagement to prevent collision from following vehicles. Not all unexpected brake events produced a warning, however it appears that full brake events a pre-collision warning did appear. 3 attempts were made but dealer was not able (authorized by OEM) to perform extended drive cycles. On 4th attempt claim was stored code was found and multiple components were replaced. However, problem reoccurred in a subsequent highway trip, and there was a clear degradation of the LKA accuracy, as the LKA would no longer keep lane center and would not correct of provide departure warning until on top of after crossing lane line markings. Additionally "hands on wheel" warning would appear even though hands were on the steering wheel at the time. The vehicle is now at the dealer for the 5th attempt at diagnosis and repair. The dealer and OEM claim that installing a data logger is not possible, which I find difficult to agree with as there are clear parameters to measure and tripper a recorded event.

The panoramic moonroof glass shattered while the vehicle was parked and stationary in my driveway. There was no known impact from another object and no occupants were in the vehicle at the time of the incident. I had the moonroof sunshade closed when the glass shattered. The upper surface of the sunshade contained the shattered glass fragments, including both large and small pieces. Upon inspection, I did not observe any foreign object resting on the sunshade, inside the vehicle, or on the ground surrounding the truck that would indicate an object had struck the moonroof. Based on my observations, I am unaware of any external event that caused the glass to shatter. Vehicle mileage was approximately 54,500 miles.

Issue 1: During snow conditions, the windshield wiper arms have detached from the linkage pivot on two separate occasions while in operation. This creates an immediate loss of visibility and a significant safety hazard while driving. In both instances, the detached wiper arm had to be retrieved and manually reinstalled. On one occasion, the arm could not be reinstalled in the field, leaving the vehicle without functional wipers. The component should be available for inspection upon request. The first occurrence happened on Jan 3, 2025. The most recent was Feb 2026. Issue 2: The windshield wipers are currently inoperable. When activated, the wipers move slightly upward (approximately 4–6 inches from the bottom of the windshield), then stall and begin to stutter/twitch repeatedly before stopping completely. There is no visible external damage to the linkage. This condition renders the wipers ineffective and unusable. The issue has occurred during active snowfall, making the vehicle unsafe to operate due to loss of visibility. No prior warning lights or messages were observed before the failure. The issue began suddenly, and was not a slow failure. It also occurred the day after a software update, which I noted because of the changed radio and alarm settings in the vehicle. I believe this was April 14th or 15th. By proximity of the app update, this raises the concern of the issue being related to the app. Based on research, there are multiple current and prior recalls involving similar Ford truck wiper system failures related to linkage lubrication, motor sealing, and sensor faults. The described failures appear to be functionally related and represent a significant safety concern.

My windshield wipers were working on Dec 19th as we drove to the store. When we came back out the wipers or sprayer no longer worked. This caused extreme low visibility while driving on the street. Being an all electric vehicle I figured maybe it was a system malfunction. So I turned the car off to restart and still no fix. After doing some research and checking ford website I found an open recall#22S71, for 2022 Ford F150s(including lightnings, which is my car). The recall is for the wiper motor failing. I called to check if my car was under the recall and was informed that my VIN was not apart of that recall. I explained that it seemed like the same issue but was told it did not matter. I took the truck to an automotive electrical shop and they have confirmed that it is indeed my wiper motor has failed.

My vehicle had a wiper motor recall that came out when I bought it. I had to wait 2 years for parts and I had it done in May of this year. Vehicle harldy sees any rain so the wipers have only been used a few times since then. Well today I was driving and it started to rain and the wipers wouldn't turn on. What's the point of a recall if they are just going to install more defective parts. Sad part is the original wiper motor worked with no problems. Also this engine has cylinder deactivation on it and is operating when it isn't suppose to. So if I'm accelerating from a dead stop it turns on cylinder deactivation and I loose power and acceleration. The ford dealers and ford customer service people don't care I have an unsafe vehicle.

My truck was parked on a slight slope in my driveway. I got in to move the truck to my normal parking space. When I started the truck I noticed the emergency brake was on. I put the truck into drive- the truck accelerated with my foot on the brake. The truck struck the corner of my deck and didn't stop until I hit the corner at my house. I had the brake pushed to the firewall and the truck would kept accelerating. Thankfully the airbags did not deploy. Significant damage was done to my house and my truck.

I experienced an unintended-acceleration event in a parking lot while maneuvering at low speed. I was alternating between Reverse and Drive to adjust the vehicle’s position within a parking space when, after selecting Drive, the truck unexpectedly surged forward with substantial acceleration. I applied the brakes immediately and with significant force, but the brake pedal felt unusually soft and stopping response seemed reduced. The vehicle struck a large commercial trash bin; I narrowly avoided striking the building behind it. Damage was primarily superficial, but the incident had clear potential for more serious property damage or injury. I have prior experience operating EVs with one-pedal driving and do not believe this event resulted from driver error. Following the incident, I disabled one-pedal driving and have used traditional drive mode. I have not experienced another unintended-acceleration event since making that change. Given the low-speed maneuver, the sudden forward surge, and the apparent relationship to one-pedal-drive operation, I believe the event warrants formal documentation and technical investigation.

Highway Incident: While traveling at highway speeds, a sudden evasive braking maneuver caused the truck to drop power. Upon attempting to re-accelerate, the throttle pedal went to the floor with zero response, and the vehicle continued to decelerate on an active highway. Multiple trailing vehicles had to make emergency maneuvers to swerve around the decelerating truck to avoid a high-speed, rear-end collision. Subsequent Incidents: The vehicle repeatedly forces an uncommanded speed limit of 11 mph while attempting to accelerate from a complete stop or merge from stop signs. This severe lack of predictable acceleration creates an immediate risk of being T-boned or rear-ended by cross-traffic, making the vehicle entirely unsafe to operate in normal traffic conditions. An authorized Ford dealership has confirmed the underlying failure of the hybrid system. They kept the vehicle for approximately one month to replace the entire hybrid drive unit. Following that repair, the vehicle was returned to the dealer a second time, where technicians confirmed a software communication failure between the electric and gas systems, attempting to resolve it by flashing/reprogramming the ECU. The vehicle’s hybrid system and software have been extensively inspected and worked on by manufacturer-certified technicians at an authorized Ford dealership. It has not been inspected by police or insurance, as no physical collision has occurred yet. No warning lamps or messages.

The passenger door lock/latch actuator is failing. The passenger door will not open from the outside at all. The door has to be opened from the inside. This issue started shortly after we had a historic/unusual cold freeze in Florida. The vehicle is kept outside, so it was exposed to the freezing temperatures. This creates a safety and security concern because the passenger door cannot be opened from the outside in an emergency, and the power lock system does not work properly. To Whom It May Concern: RE: 2022 Ford F-150 – VIN: [XXX] Safety Recall Notice: 25S75 / NHTSA Recall 25V455 I am writing to formally express my deep concern and disappointment regarding ongoing and serious safety issues with my 2022 Ford F-150, which I purchased just over a year ago with 29,000 miles from Big Star Ford in Pearland, TX. From the beginning, my ownership experience has been marred by dangerous oversights and inadequate dealership service: •At the time of purchase, the vehicle was sold to me with a punctured sidewall tire, an issue that was never disclosed. I had no choice but to replace all four tires out of pocket shortly after purchase. •One year later, during my final complimentary Advantage Care oil change, the situation escalated dramatically. Immediately after leaving the dealership and merging onto a major Houston freeway, all lug nuts on the front driver’s side wheel came off, causing the wheel to partially detach. The truck swerved violently, and I narrowly avoided what could have been a catastrophic accident. I returned on foot to the dealership and notified them. To their credit, they retrieved the vehicle and provided a loaner. However, their follow-up response was alarmingly inadequate: •Initially, they only offered to repair one side of the vehicle, and I had to insist that both sides be serviced for safety. •I had to demand replacement of all four tires, which they reluctantly agreed to. •No goodwill services, warranty extension, or formal apology were offered, despite the clear risk to life and property. Now, I’ve received a safety recall notice (25S75 / NHTSA Recall 25V455) related to potential loss of fuel pressure, which could cause the engine to stall unexpectedly while in motion. Ford currently has no available remedy for this serious issue, which again jeopardizes the safety of myself and my family. As a [XXX], husband, and father, I am deeply concerned about the safety and INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

I am filing a complaint regarding Ford Safety Recall 23S65 and the way Ford Motor Company have handled my vehicle over the past seven months. My truck has been held at the dealership since July 2025, and the recall repair has still not been completed. Despite this extremely long delay, Ford has not issued a stop‑drive order, grounding order, or any owner notification stating that the vehicle is unsafe to operate. The recall bulletin states the half‑shaft remains retained even if the bolt fails, yet the dealership refuses to release my vehicle, citing “liability.” Ford Customer Service has been unable to provide any documentation supporting the dealer’s refusal. Ford updated the dealer‑facing recall bulletin to require replacement of both half‑shafts if one side fails inspection. However, Ford never sent owners an updated recall notice explaining this change, never informed owners that the vehicle must remain at the dealership, and never issued any communication indicating increased safety risk. I, as the owner, received no updated recall letter at all. My family and I have repeatedly asked the dealership and my Ford case representative to replace the broken side and release the truck until parts arrive for the other side. We were told this was “not allowed,” but neither Ford nor the dealer can provide written documentation requiring the vehicle to be held. My case representative has been extremely difficult to reach and has not provided clear or consistent information. This situation has left me without my vehicle for over seven months, with no timeline, no communication, and no justification for the vehicle being held. This appears to violate the intent of federal recall law, which requires timely repairs and prohibits withholding a vehicle without a stop‑drive order. I am requesting NHTSA review Ford’s handling of Recall 23S65, the excessive repair delays, and the lack of owner notification regarding updated repair requirements.

Driving on the highway at highway speeds, heard clanking then a loud bang, then vehicle would not longer respond to the accelerator so we coasted onto the median. We had the vehicle towed and found out from a Ford dealer that the rear axle had broken due to Ford's failure to repair under Manufacturer Recall Number23S65 NHTSA Recall Number23V896 and that had caused damage to the rear differential. We were fortunate not to have been in or caused a significant accident. I had the vehicle at a Ford dealer in Illinois in 2024, but the recall was not performed due to lack of parts. This incident happened thereafter, in November of 2025, and the vehicle has been off of the road at a Ford dealer in Indiana since. Same story, no parts. Ford offers no timeline for repair, advising it could be 3 months, could be a year - it is indefinite. I recently was advised that there are 70,000 orders for the parts for this repair, and although I am on the "emergency off road list" that is still 15,000 orders long. Additionally, I had the vehicle in early in my ownership window for lags when the transmission shifted at certain times, it was checked and given the all clear, but - intermittently arose - given Ford representations I ignored it but never felt the delays were safe as it slowed vehicle responsiveness, albeit it slightly. I now see active litigation around these transmission issues in the F-150.

One when I put it in reverse my truck shudders and acts like I pressed on the break really fast several times. I also havr an issue with a cold start when I start it up the truck it acts like it wants to die or looses rpms. I here a paddling coming from the intake valves possibly. Im not sure what part is broke but it makes a rattling sound. Iv brought it to the dealership that I bought the truck from and they say we domt notice anything and its been a struggle to get them to actually thoroughly look into it. Im concerned it will lead to an engine failure because it also loses power and wants to die at times. Iv taken excellent care of the truck and always change oil and any parts on time. It also when I put it in drive makes a loud clunk sound and has a very hard time shifting gears between 3 and 4. Very rough shifting and very concerning.

Driving approx 40mph on the road and a loud thump sound followed by grinding from rear end started. Came to stop in the road and when the gas pedal was pushed the grinding sound continued. The truck was pushed off the side of the road and had to be towed to the dealership since January 4th. It has been at the dealership with no estimate of time for repair from the dealership so far and we just keep being told there is nothing they can do. The dealership states that the parts are on back order and we are in a line of several other trucks with the same problem.

I bought the truck and two months later as I was driving the vehicle the rear defrental went out and caused the wheels to improperly balance the speed of all tires as I turned and cause my truck to turn roughly and I almost got in a wreck. I brought it to ford and they seen it needed to be replaced. Mind you its only been a few months. About a year later it has issues again as im driving and I also noticed it was leaking def oil really bad. I brought it in and they said they fixed it. About 7 months later I had issues with it again and they had to repair again. Its very concerning and is a big issue and safety concern.

Tail light on the drivers side was hyper flashing and upon inspection found that it is not working. When I removed the tail light to replace the bulb I noticed that the whole tail light assembly was full of water. The bulb is inside a housing that is inaccessible, so bulb cannot be replaced without replacing the whole tail light assembly. Leaking tail light assembly causing failure of turn signals or brake lights is a serious safety hazard and can cause an accident. Additional safety risk if BLIS system fails and driver is not aware that it isn’t working.

I recently ought a 2022 Ford F-150 off of a private seller. It had a clean Carfax when I bought it. About a month after I bought the truck, on July 24, 2025, the following warning lights appeared on my dash all on the same day. Blind Spot Assist Not Available, Cross Traffic Assist Not Available, and Reverse Brake Assist Not Available. Also, my drivers side window would not roll down, and my drivers side lock/unlock buttons would not work. There were not any warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure. So I took my truck into Gary Smith Ford in Fort Walton Beach, FL. on July 25, 2025 and they came back with the file I have uploaded below with the diagnosis and estimate. Of course the warranty has just expired a few months ago. We tried to make a claim with our insurance company and that was denied. I have also reached out to Ford Customer Service and they refused to help in any way. We were also never offered a loaner vehicle and my truck has been at the dealership for three weeks now. I am currently Active Duty Military and this is now effecting my ability to report for duty, and causing my leadership to question me. It is also effecting my family as we now only have one vehicle. As you can see in the link below, the estimate is quite high. and it is extremely frustrating that Ford has refused to help in any way, and will not provide any logical reason as to why except that the warranty is expired. Especially since this isn't my fault at all. Any help in rectifying this issue would be greatly appreciated. Thank You.

The electric brake controller pulses electric to the trailer brakes. Even when there is no trailer connected and the truck not running. The trailer brakes locked up. The lane centering is so sensitive the steering wheel shimmies. This makes the trailer sway.

I purchased a brand new Metallic Blue 2022 Ford F150 XLT Supercrew FX4 Off Road edition from Greenway Ford in Orlando, FL on [XXX] I traded in a blue 2014 Ford F150 XLT that I had owned for 10 years and was for the most part, a reliable vehicle that I loved. The odometer on the new F150 read ~124 miles on it at the time of purchase. After several months into owning the vehicle the rear passenger window malfunctioned and would not go up. I took it to Greenway Ford and they repaired it in a day under warranty and I didn’t think anything of it. As we entered the Florida rainy season the truck developed a very faint musty smell. After several weeks of hard rains at the beginning of November 2023, I started to hear water sloshing along the sides of the truck. After inspecting the carpets under the floor mats I found them to be completely soaked. I took the truck to Greenway Ford service center where they informed me that the windshield was not installed properly from the factory when the vehicle was built and has been accumulating water and not draining properly. I'm very concerned that there is mold in the vehicle as it still smells. The ABS sensors were also not calibrated. I need to address a safety concern! On 3/13, I was driving back home. my 3 year old daughter was sitting in her car seat (behind the driver seat). She pulled the seatbelt from the middle seat and wrapped it around her neck choking herself. I had just got home and thank god I did because this would have been a totally different story. I pulled up to my mailbox to get my mail. I happen to look back and saw she was purple on the verge of blue. I had no scissors in my car to cut the belt. I drove up my long driveway ran into the house came out with scissors and cut the belt as it was locked and there is no emergency unlock button. Her neck was very red and has broken blood vessels. I have pictures to prove this! No where on the belts does it say “choking hazard” I thought seatbelts were supposed to SAVE LIVES! My seatbelt can be replaced however, my daughter life cannot! Thankfully, is ok!! I called a ford dealer to get the belt fixed. Was told it was $1,000!!!!!
