Price & value

We don't guess at prices. Get a real value for the exact truck from Kelley Blue Book, then see how the asking price compares.

Is it a good deal?

  1. Look up the truck on Kelley Blue Book. Choose its cab, trim, options, miles, condition and your ZIP code, and note the private party value (or the fair purchase price if you're buying from a dealer).
  2. Enter that value and the asking price below.
Check value on Kelley Blue Book ↗

Enter both numbers to see the deal rating.

The rating only compares the two numbers you enter: within 5% of the value is a good deal, 5–15% under is a great deal, and more than 15% under is a buy-it-now price. Know Your Truck isn't affiliated with Kelley Blue Book. Rust, accident history, lifts and mods, and service records all change what a truck is worth, so always get a pre-purchase inspection.

Risk: A failure of the front air bags or seat belt pretensioners to deploy in the event of a crash necessitating deployment increases the risk of injury to the driver and front passenger.

Fix: GM will notify owners, and dealers will reflash the SDM software. Vehicles that have had a previous air bag deployment will have the SDM replaced. At 124,000, the transmission started slipping and not grabbing gears. Coleman Taylor Transmissions ended up having to do a full rebuild which costs about $4000. At around 20,000 miles, the vehicle started to shutter going 45 mph. The vehicle still does shake violently at 62-75 mph causing a safety concern. The brakes wont go if Ive been standing still for a long time like in a drive through or backing down a boat ramp. You have to stand on the brakes with both feet to get the vehicle to stop and thats only going 5 mph. We still own this vehicle and still have issues with it.

When applying brakes at low speeds the brakes are unresponsive they sound rough and the vehicle does not come to a stop it skids forward, and an electric low whine occurs. This doesn't happen everytime. I took it in for Carvanas 30 day warranty and was told its because I drove it down the mountain grade while applying brakes and they didnt find anything wrong with the brake thus wouldn't be covered. Been seeing this vacuum issue with the brakes on this particular issue and seeing if I can get this resolved.

I returned to the showroom to complete the required paper work and the vehicle was cleaned and returned in front of the showroom. I drove the vehicle on [XXX] after driving a short distance the "Service Brake Assist" light again came on. I notified the service department on 6/1/2026 and drove the vehicle back to the dealership. The service advisor indicated he was going to have his best Technician repair the vehicle. I arrived at12:33 and the vehicle was completed at 12:56 PM I drove the vehicle back to my home without any issues. I left my home on [XXX] and as I turned onto the Interstate Highway, the light came on once again. After researching this issue, it is not advisable to drive the vehicle as the Antilock Braking System will not operate correctly. This vehicle should NOT have been available for any prospective customer to drive on the highway until the issue is corrected. The sales person should have verified that the brake issue was properly repaired before offering anyone a road test in the vehicle. The vehicle is currently at the Dealership. COMPONENT: Electric power steering (EPS) and electrical/power distribution. Available for inspection. FAILURE: My 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LT (5.3L, 4WD) intermittently loses EPS assist during tight low-speed turns; steering becomes suddenly and severely heavy. On one occasion the engine shut off completely while I was turning - steering went heavy immediately before the stall. The same events bring random Service StabiliTrak warnings, Tow/Haul messages I did not request, and loss of stereo audio and turn-signal chime, sometimes together. Shutting off, opening the driver's door, waiting a minute, then remote starting restores normal operation - modules appear to reset when the truck fully powers down. SAFETY RISK: Loss of steering assist plus complete engine shutdown occurred while turning. Losing both in traffic could readily cause a crash. RECALL: NHTSA 18V-586 (GM 18289, EPS Loss of Steering Assist) was completed on this VIN 2018-10-11. Eight years later the vehicle still loses steering assist, now with engine stall. GM's Part 573 report states the remedy only reduces EPS current draw so voltage stays above the 8.8V cutoff; it appears inadequate here. GM TSB 18-NA-161 describes this same symptom set and attributes it to high-resistance battery cable connections, a poor BCM ground at G218, a shorted B+ cable at the starter solenoid, or a faulty battery - a hardware condition never made subject to recall despite causing engine stall and loss of steering assist. INSPECTION: Hotchkiss Auto could not recreate the failure; the vehicle set numerous codes across multiple modules, making the fault impossible to isolate. Not inspected by manufacturer, police, or insurance. No crash, injury, or fire. PRIOR REPAIR: Two months ago I cleaned and tightened two grounds (front passenger wheel area, under driver's dash). Symptoms stopped two months, then returned. WARNINGS: StabiliTrak and Tow/Haul messages precede and accompany the failures. First appeared June 2025.

While driving at approximately 45 mph, the steering system suddenly failed without any warning. The steering wheel became extremely stiff and nearly impossible to turn, resulting in a sudden loss of control of the vehicle. I was unable to safely steer, especially when attempting to turn right, which nearly caused a crash. There were no warning lights, alerts, or prior symptoms before this failure. The issue occurred abruptly and without any indication, creating a serious and unexpected safety hazard. Due to the severity of the problem, the vehicle had to be towed and is unsafe to drive. This appears to be a failure of the electronic power steering (EPS) system. A sudden loss of steering assist at driving speed presents a significant risk of injury or death to the driver, passengers, and others on the road. This is a critical safety issue that should be investigated immediately.

The failure occurred in the rear sliding window defroster electrical system, specifically at the left-side electrical connection of the power sliding rear window. The component overheated and ignited, causing fire damage and shattering of the rear left portion of the window. The vehicle and damaged components are currently available for inspection upon request. The defect resulted in an active electrical fire during normal vehicle operation (remote start while warming up). This posed a serious risk of vehicle fire, injury to occupants, and potential spread to nearby vehicles or structures. As a firefighter, I recognized the danger and immediately shut off the vehicle and ventilated it; without trained action, the incident could have resulted in a total vehicle loss or more severe consequences. Copeland Chevrolet in Hudson, Massachusetts inspected the vehicle and confirmed that the damage was consistent with the known defect in the rear sliding window defroster system, consistent with GM Customer Satisfaction Program XXX. The vehicle has been inspected by an authorized GM dealership (Copeland Chevrolet). No police or insurance inspection has occurred to date. No warning lamps, messages, or prior symptoms were present. The failure occurred suddenly and without warning during normal operation while the vehicle was warming up using the factory-installed remote start. This is a known defect acknowledged by GM under Customer Satisfaction Program XXX (which expired in 2022), which described overheating and fire risk in the rear sliding window defroster electrical connection. That program was limited by state and excluded Massachusetts, so I was never notified despite identical risk. This same defect is currently the subject of an active safety recall in Canada, where it is treated as a fire hazard requiring corrective action.

I am filing this complaint regarding a serious engine lifter/Active Fuel Management (AFM) failure in my 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The vehicle experienced a lifter failure that caused significant engine problems and created a potential safety concern while driving back from shopping: loss of power, engine misfire, severe shaking, ticking, check-engine light, stalling, inability to maintain speed, etc. The vehicle had approximately 200k miles at the time of the failure. The vehicle was inspected by a local mechanic, which diagnosed the problem as collapsed/failed lifter. The repair required/will cost approx. 3k or more estimated My concern is that this does not appear to be an isolated failure. Other owners of 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 trucks equipped with GM's Active Fuel Management system have reported lifter failures, including failures resulting in engine damage and sudden loss of engine power or propulsion. A sudden lifter or related engine failure can create a significant safety hazard, particularly when it occurs at highway speeds, while merging into traffic, crossing an intersection, or in another situation where the driver depends upon the engine to maintain acceleration and vehicle speed. I am reporting this in hopes that GM can be held accountable as they knew about these defective lifters but did nothing but hide it.

The factory Summit White paint and clearcoat are delaminating from the primer in large sheets along the roofline directly above the windshield header. This factory paint-bonding failure exposes raw primer and bare metal, compromising the structural roof seal around the windshield. Left unaddressed, it creates water intrusion and structural rust risks near the windshield header, posing a safety and visibility hazard. A quick google said it’s a known problem on this model with the power sliding window due to the rear defrost and there’s a recall for Canada and 10 us states but Illinois isn’t covered. Hard to understand when it’s the same part number. GM customer service rep also stated they won’t cover it when we called the corporate office. If we’d been alerted we would’ve disabled the rear defrost long ago. Frightening to know it’s a fire hazard and what if we’d had children in the back.

First off the truck my father and I purchased was a brand new LT 1500 model with v6 engine and 4 wheel drive from Bill Defouw Chevrolet Lafayette, IN In 2020 I contacted the sheriff's department because the vehicle we had purchased had been stolen and switched out with another truck that had a non matching stamped vin on the frame underneath and nothing else matched with photos of proof did not match either. I gave the photos to the authorities to observe and they handed them back to me and laughed at me. The truck that was left with me that the thieves tried to make me believe was my truck was a salvage flood vehicle with the strong smell of mold and mildew and tires that didn't match and other areas on the truck that did not match our brand new truck we purchased that had never been altered except for adding a bed liner. I have tons of photos showing the unmatched stamped vin and photos throughout the years of ownership that I've been trying to get help with before someone gets hurt. When they wouldn't help me and continuously told me it was my truck in my possession even though I showed the proof I literally was brainwashed into believing what they were saying and I traded the truck in. When I finally realized that my gut instinct and proof was enough I contacted the dealership and took photos in where we purchased the truck to show them the differences and they agreed with me and told me to contact the police again. So I did and got the same results. Therefore there are two trucks out there possibly more that have been vin swapped and vehicle swapped from victims driveways, or work, or garage etc. I can submit my photos of proof immediately. They got my other vehicles too including my motorcycle I never got to ride because I noticed it a couple days after purchase. This crime is heavy and victims don't even know it's happened due to cloning.

I bought this vehicle last November from Shea. When we bought the truck we noticed the check engine light, but was told that we would have to bring it back in for inspection. The last vehicle we bought from Shea it had a 30 day return and it would fix any problems. Not so with this time. So, we purchased a Platinum warranty which was a little above $2K and we believed would cover these issues. That was not the case. We had a friend of ours who is a GM Mechanic look it over and told us that it needed a high pressure fuel pump. So when I brought the vehicle in on January 22nd I told the service person at the desk that we had a platinum warranty and told him that I had a GM technician tell me that it needed a high pressure fuel pump. After sitting for six hours he comes out and tells me that I needed a high pressure fuel pump and tells me it will cost me $1400.00+ to have it fixed and it would not be covered by my warranty. And then tells me that the work they did today would cost me $150.00. I told him when I came in what the problem was. I understand that they need to do their own diagnostics, but why didn't they tell me that the part would not be covered by the platinum warranty. We paid $23K for the truck, plus an additional $2k+ for the warranty and now an additional $1,400.00-$1,500.00 for the fuel pump. So, yes we are not happy and will give a second thought to ever using Shea again. I understand that this memo will not change things, but I want you to understand that prior to today's fiasco I have told friends that I would recommend Shea when looking for a vehicle. Now I would not recommend Shea to any of our friends. Sorely disappointed! The vehicle’s engine, diagnosed at approximately 58,000 miles and minimal idle hours. While the GM Master technician is confident that only one side of lifters require immediate replacement, there is a possibility of damage to the camshaft lobe, which cannot be inspected without significant additional labor. There is also a concern about potential metal contamination in the oil, which could further impact the engine’s performance. I also have many documented repair orders indicating my concern with the transmissions performance.

However, I have read many reports of engine failure concerning the 5.3 v8 engine which I have. The Chevrolet Silverado 1/2 ton pickup was towed on a flatbed truck to Chevrolet, They found that the engine had dropped a valve in the #7 cylinder and some rocker arms, etc also had broken. The final billing was $7092.89 I was in traffic going around 60mph when the engine died and put me in an emergency situation. This could have caused a wreck. I got in my truck and put my seatbelt on, next thing I know it’s just hanging there. The cable in the seatbelt broke, down by the door frame. Very dangerous! Can’t imagine if I had been in a car accident! Now my seatbelt is a safety hazard! I took it to the local dealer and they said they can fix it, they ordered the parts and said it’ll be over $300. They stated it had already been fixed during a recall & it’s my responsibility now. I would think Chevy would get this problem with the seatbelts fixed asap! I’m surprised someone hasn’t been killed because of them.

Front seat belts tensioners are not recoiling the seat belts. The seat belt tensioners are not retracting when exiting the vehicle causing lashing buckle to get pinned between the door and door frame. I was told by GM customer service that some vehicles were recalled but my vehicle was not on the list. The problem has always existed which can be proven by door frame dents caused by seat belt tensioners.

I purchased a Brand new Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LT Z71 in2015. While still paying on this vehicle I had an issue with the engine bogging down and it would almost die. It would jerk and shake terribly to the point it just shut down. I took to Royal Chevrolet and they found that it had a broken Valve spring on Cyl 7. This went on and on they had this vehicle for a total of almost 7 months before they put 1 last engine in it. The 1st thing I did was drove down From Michigan to North Carolina to visit my daughter. Plenty of Mountains and a lot of driving as I drove 14 hours straight by myself. The engine that they had just put in started Chugging and choking and it stalled on the highway going through the mountains and I was hit in the rear end and the other driver never stopped. I managed to get it running again. Prior to leaving for North Carolina I ordered what they call a tuner where I could deactivate the AFM system and stay in 8 Cyl mode at all times. I had it sent to her house. I installed the program. Keeping in mind #1 I was rear ended. And every single time there was an issue it was Cyl#7 on all the previous engines. I talked to the Lead man at Royal chevrolet about all the issues and he said they know all about it and its a joke. They tried it on Cadillacs back in 1975 and recalled every one of them and turned it off. On my way back home not 1 single issue in fact and I sill have it displayed on my dashboard I actually got 26.2 Miles per gallon in V-8 mode in the mountains. I have driven to NC every year since before I even owned that truck and have never seen milage before or since. The AFM system is nothing but a ploy to get people to buy junk. Could someone been killed? Most certainly. I told the manager 1 more engine and I have a Friend cut stickers of lemons out and put at the main 4 corners in our town. I still have that truck and currently have 128,000 miles on it and I had to pay $600.00 to fix it myself. And GM thinks its a joke. I called GM

My wife came home and told me there was something wrong with our truck. I went and inspected it and found nothing. The next day i drove the truck about 30 miles up river. Coming home I was traveling around 55 mph the truck came to a sudden slow down as if I had locked up the brakes then drove fine again. This happened three or four times not as bad as first time. While in town stopped at a light it tried to take of. Not like something giving it gas but like it was in gear and the brake wasnt going to hold it. Almost put me into a school bus ahead of me. Then the rest of the way home it kept binding down and releasing then binding back down. Hard to control but not necessarily a break problem. Its something else. I have worked on vehicles all my life, professionally for 25 years. I never seen a vehicle do this. It has to be in the transmission. Maybe something in the torque converter would be my guess. I have heard of the issues with the 8 speed ever sense this happened I have parked this truck. I cant afford a need transmission that doesnt actually fix the problem from what i hear. I feel GM needs to do something here. At least pay for the parts to fix it

I am having issues with my transmission. When I first turn on the truck in the morning, put it in gear, and lightly accelerate the truck accelerates way too fast then cuts out the power. It is enough to throw me forward or back in my seat and it honestly is frightening. I am also having problems with the vehicle shifting incorrectly causing me to have no power or a sudden surge of power. This is usually when i have slowed down and them am trying to accelerate again. Also, When I am slowing down to stoplights, the vehicle will occasionally shift down to too low of a gear and act like i am slamming on the brakes. I have had several close calls with this truck due to this issue. Gm knows about the issue and has refused to recall the vehicles that are having these problems. They are recommending changing out the fluid multiple times at the owners costs. This has resulted in several class action lawsuits. They also have gone to the lengths of changing warranty coverage to no longer include abnormal shifting. This is not safe. This is causing accidents and they are actively covering it up. Please help the hundreds of thousands of people that are having issues. We need your help, I need your help and gm is no longer standing behind their vehicles.

A/C UNIT DOES NOT WORK. RECHARGE THE SYSTEM AND IT LEAKS OUT. GM/CHEVROLET KNOWS OF THE ISSUE AND HAS RECALLED OTHER MODELS USING THE SAME EQUIPMENT. NOT ON THE CHEVROLET SILVERADO MODELS. NO MENTION OF LEAKS OR ISSUES BY THE DEALERSHIP DURING REGULAR MAINTENANCE. ON JUNE 20TH 2020 I PAID TO HAVE THE SYSTEM RECHARGED, DIDNT BLOW REALLY COLD BUT GRADUALLY IT GOT WARMER, NOW IT BLOWS HOT AIR. LAST FALL OCT 2019 IT WAS NOT BLOWING COLD AIR, IN FEBRUARY 15 2920 WHILE DRIVING THE AIR SEEMED TO GET WARMER, COULD NOT KEEP THE CAB COOL. AFTER REVIEWING RECALL INFORMATION AND OTHER REVIEWS OF ISSUES I SEE THAT THE $1,100 OR MORE FOR REPLACEMENT OF CERTAIN EQUIPMENT, PLUS THE LONG DELAY BECAUSE GM/CHEVROLET HAS A SHORTAGE OF THE SPECIFIC PARTS (BACK ORDERED). I THINK THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL TO FORCE GM/ CHEVROLET TO FIX THIS ISSUE THEY HAVE KNOWN ABOUT SINCE BEFORE MY TRUCK WAS EVEN BUILT.

AFFECTS ALL CURRENT CHEVROLET VEHICLES CURRENTLY SOLD INTO THE USA. CHEVROLET HAS BEGUN USING THE BACKUP LAMPS (REVERSE LIGHTS) TO ILLUMINATE THE AREA AROUND THE VEHICLE EVEN WHEN THE VEHICLE IS OFF AND NOT IN REVERSE GEAR; TYPICALLY WHEN THE DRIVER IS ACCESSING & EGRESSING THE VEHICLE, OR HAS ACTUATED THE DOOR LOCK REMOTE. THE RESULT IS A VEHICLE APPEARS TO BE REVERSING, OR ABOUT TO REVERSE, EVEN THOUGH IT'S NOT CAPABLE OF MOVEMENT. APPROACHING VEHICLES ASSUME THE CHEVROLET IS ABOUT TO MOVE, YET ARE UNABLE TO VERIFY THE DRIVER CAN SEE THEM AND SO CAN'T PROCEED WITHOUT ESCALATING IMPACT RISK; THOSE WHO DO PASS WILL FOCUS ATTENTION ON THE POTENTIAL MOVEMENT OF THE CHEVROLET RATHER THAN SCANNING FOR GENERAL PEDESTRIAN TRAFFIC. IN ADDITION, USE OF BACKUP LIGHTS IN THIS MANNER CAN TEACH CHILDREN TO DISREGARD BACKUP LIGHTS AS A POTENTIAL MOVEMENT INDICATOR, AND INCREASES THEIR CHANCES OF RUNOVER BY WALKING BEHIND A VEHICLE THAT IS TRULY IN REVERSE AND ABOUT TO MOVE. ACCORDING TO FMVSS 108 THE USE OF BACKUP LAMPS SHALL COMPLY WITH APPLICABLE SAE STANDARDS SUCH AS: SAE J387 APR2014 3.4.1 BACKUP FUNCTION A LIGHTING DEVICE USED TO PROVIDE ILLUMINATION BEHIND THE VEHICLE AND TO PROVIDE A WARNING SIGNAL TO PEDESTRIANS AND OTHER DRIVERS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS BACKING UP (REVERSING) OR IS ABOUT TO BACK UP. 3.4.2 BACKUP LAMP(S) (REVERSING) LAMP OR LAMPS PROVIDING THE BACKUP FUNCTION; MORE COMMONLY REFERRED TO AS A ?REVERSING LAMP?
