Recalls and owner complaints reported to NHTSA

Compared with the typical (middle) count of 588 complaints across the 7 model-year 2022 half-ton trucks we cover. Best-selling trucks naturally collect more complaints because more of them are on the road.

Price & value

We don't guess at prices. Get a real value for the exact truck from Kelley Blue Book, then see how the asking price compares.

Is it a good deal?

  1. Look up the truck on Kelley Blue Book. Choose its cab, trim, options, miles, condition and your ZIP code, and note the private party value (or the fair purchase price if you're buying from a dealer).
  2. Enter that value and the asking price below.
Check value on Kelley Blue Book ↗

Enter both numbers to see the deal rating.

The rating only compares the two numbers you enter: within 5% of the value is a good deal, 5–15% under is a great deal, and more than 15% under is a buy-it-now price. Know Your Truck isn't affiliated with Kelley Blue Book. Rust, accident history, lifts and mods, and service records all change what a truck is worth, so always get a pre-purchase inspection.

Truck for about the 6th time in 2 weeks, shut its self off while driving and slams into park. This has happened before and had to be towed to dodge because it wouldn’t restart. The contact owns a 2022 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving approximately 40 MPH, the vehicle lost power and coasted to a stop along the curb, stalled, and the transmission independently shifted to park(P). The vehicle failed to restart, and the Police arrived on the scene to assist with traffic control. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer, who replaced the high-pressure fuel pump as part of the repair under NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V263000 (FUEL SYSTEM, DIESEL). However, the repair failed to fix the vehicle. The vehicle has already had the generator replaced due to failure and shutting off while driving down the road and the speed limit. The truck was in the shop for almost 6 moths, then the front drive shaft broke while driving in 2-wheel drive. Now while my wife was driving going 40 mph on HWY 96 the car shut off and put itself in park in the middle of the highway. We were lucky no one hit us and after a few minutes it restarted and we were able to get it off the road and have it towed to the dealer where it is right now.

On October 1, 2026, my 2022 Ram 1500 Rebel with the 5.7L HEMI eTorque mild-hybrid system failed to restart after an automatic engine stop-start event at a red light. The engine shut off as designed when I stopped. After about 90 seconds the light turned green and I released the brake, but the engine did not restart, and the truck sat motionless in the traffic lane. When I pressed the accelerator, the engine revved and the truck lurched forward unexpectedly. At that point a battery warning light and an auto stop-start warning (stop-start symbol with an exclamation mark) appeared on the dash. No warning lights appeared before the failure. I pulled over and was able to restart the truck, but the dash voltmeter read about 12.8V while running instead of the normal 14.4V, meaning the 12V battery was not being charged. I drove to my destination. After I shut the truck off and restarted it, voltage returned to about 14.4V. Note that this is not the first time this has occurred and I often keep the automatic start/stop off because it seems to have so many issues.

Approximately 10 mins into my drive there was a burning smell in my cab, then within a few seconds there was a loud popping/exploding sound. I pulled into a parking lot within 100 feet and exited vehicle. I went to front of vehicle to see if there was smoke and after finding none I leaned back inside my truck’s cab and realized not only was the burning smell stronger but there was visible smoke lingering. At that point I saw that one of the back stationary windows was shattered. Looking closer I saw that below the window the glass was charred and the plastic trim had melted slightly. I stayed out of the vehicle and started researching the possible cause. I read several reports of issues with 5th generation Ram trucks, like mine, experienced issues like mine caused from faulty rear defrosters. After consulting with someone over the phone, I pulled the fuse for the rear defrosters to be certain there would no longer be any type of electric current flowing to the defrosters.

I own a 2022 Ram 1500 Limited 4x4 (5.7L HEMI eTorque, ZF 8-speed automatic), VIN [XXX], approximately 40,000 miles. For roughly two years, the transmission has produced a hard, jarring downshift and lurch during normal low-speed deceleration, consistently when slowing from ~20 mph to a stop. This occurs both when the engine is cold and fully warmed up, ruling out a cold-start explanation. It happens under normal city driving, not towing or aggressive driving. The jolt is forceful enough that passengers, including my spouse, are reluctant to ride in the vehicle. I brought the truck to an authorized Ram dealership (Greenway Dodge, Orlando, FL) and left it overnight. The service manager stated this was “normal” behavior and that his own vehicle did the same. When I noted it happens warm as well as cold, I was told nothing could be done. No diagnostic codes were pulled, no fluid inspected, and no TSBs checked during the visit. I later confirmed via NHTSA’s TSB lookup that a bulletin addressing rough downshifting on 5.7L eTorque Ram 1500 trucks (TSB 21-005-19 or superseding revisions) exists for this platform, and has NOT been applied to my VIN despite the dealership having full access to check. I’m filing this because: 1) the behavior involves unexpected, forceful lurching during low-speed deceleration that could startle a driver near intersections; 2) my dealership dismissed it without diagnostics or checking for applicable updates; 3) this appears to be a widely reported issue among other 2019-2022 Ram 1500 eTorque owners, suggesting a pattern rather than an isolated defect. I’m requesting NHTSA document this as part of its review of shift-quality/drivetrain behavior in eTorque-equipped Ram 1500 trucks of this model year INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

The engine intermittently stalls when I press the accelerator. When this happens, the vehicle loses power, the AutoPark/electronic parking brake engages, and the battery warning light appears. This has happened more than once and creates a serious risk of a collision or being stranded if it occurs in traffic. The vehicle is a 2022 Ram 1500 Rebel with the 5.7L eTorque system. The manufacturer’s records show customer satisfaction campaign Z49 as completed, but the stalling problem continues. The symptoms appear similar to those under NHTSA investigation PE24-018. The vehicle is available for inspection.

Purchased my used RAM October 2024. On 5 occasions the engine stalled while driving. Lost all power and rolled to a stop when the parking brake engaged. Most recent incident was May 17, 2026. I went to my dealer with this complaint May 14th, there were no codes and I was told truck was operating as designed. I am unable to duplicate the event - but it happens when I slow down and then speed up - Stop sign, parking lot etc. Potentially I could have run over someone or crashed or someone could have struck me. I received no warning before the stall. The check engine light did not come on. While stalled the following messages appeared on my dashboard 1. press brake and push button to start; 2. Shifter autocorrect active; 3. Park brake auto engaged press brake + push switch to release. The truck restarted but battery light remained on and the lightning bolt red light stayed on.

I was in an emergent situation and beyond for my own safety but also to follow the law i had android auto already connected and used [XXX] to hands free call [XXX] without taking my eyes off the road since the emergent situation was someone almost ran me off the road. When i told [XXX] to call [XXX] [XXX] wasted precious time asking me if im sure that i want to call [XXX] while im trying to report the person who almost ran me off the highway at 75 miles an hour while they went almost 85 90. That is ridiculously insane and when i probed [XXX] as to why it did this it said because it used too call [XXX] without need. I promise no one who is actually in need of it would ever give a XXXXXX if [XXX] occasionally called [XXX] by accident espcially when it involves precious milliseconds not minutes. I "sent feedback" but that never does a XXX thing and when i tried to follow the instructions i needed to use to grab the logs to add to this report the andoid auto section didnt even exist and ever so conviently the logs for that specific interaction couldn't be found either which i find extremely suspicious after the 100's of shady/illegal/harmful things that google/alphabet has done to hide their own fault whenever their products fail. I did after this finally get in contact with the police at XXX dispatch but since i was driving they just asked for my name and info if they needed to get ahold of me so i dont have any information on a police report yet or may not ever recieve info on that regard. I am making this report because it's the only way ive found to report this information outside of google so that hopefully something may get done because that is absolutely unacceptable and google needs to fix it. Dodge Ram Engine light and battery light turn on. I take it to a mechanic close to my house. Service manager connects the truck to the computer and vehicle shows error in alternator which. Dodge specific parts and he advises me to take the truck straight to dodge and not drive it anymore that the battery voltage is dropping and not charging. He sends me email breakdown of all error codes and tells me to give it to dodge. I drop off at dodge and provide all information to advisor including error codes. I tell them everything that happened and what the manager said about the battery voltage. They claim all information I provided wont all fit on the ticket so erases it and put basic information regarding voltage error. I offered to show him the pics and the report that was provided to me by other mechanic but he stated that they will have to do their own diagnostics anyway. Says that my truck has a bunch of software recalls that may clear the problem. I get a call they did a software update that cleared and fixed the problem and it wasn't the MGU. Vehicle was fixed and i could pick up. I pick up truck and the warning lights were cleared. Took it home no more driving. My 17 year old drives truck next day for school event, on his way to school event both lights turn back on. I tell him to come straight home we switch cars and i take directly to dodge. As i'm driving I'm paying attention to the voltage on battery, within a 10 mile drive to drop truck off at dodge the voltage goes from 12.? down to 10.9V. at 10.5 V the vehicles computers will lose power which can cause the power steering to go stiff, transmission to lock up or engine to stall abruptly mid drive. If this would have happened while my son was driving on hwy loop 410 in San Antonio (a major and very busy road) it could have been a disaster causing a wreck, potential loss of control or worse potentially ending in death or serious injury in a truck that was released the day prior as being fixed.

My 2022 Ram 1500 with the 5.7L HEMI eTorque system illuminated the check-engine light at approximately 88,000 miles with diagnostic codes P0AEE and P0BD4 relating to the motor-generator/inverter temperature sensing system. An authorized Ram dealership diagnosed a failed Motor Generator Unit (MGU) and stated that the MGU requires replacement. I was advised that continued operation could eventually result in the vehicle becoming undrivable, so I am storing the vehicle rather than routinely driving it. The dealer has ordered a replacement MGU but reports a severe national backorder and cannot provide an estimated repair date. Stellantis Customer Care has opened a case and is attempting to expedite the part, but has not provided an ETA. I am reporting this because the MGU is integral to the eTorque starting/charging system and the vehicle cannot presently be repaired within a known timeframe. I understand NHTSA has an existing investigation, PE24-018, concerning loss of motive power in 2022 Ram 1500 eTorque vehicles.

No warning light or anything, the steering wheel turns to very heavy and the break pedal is really hard as well. Fortunately near by there was a U-turn lane for authorized vehicles only and I was able to merge to it and stop. After that I was able to start the vehicle immediately with no issues. Behind me there were at least 10 other cars trying to pass a line of semi trucks and I was lucky to nobody crash on my rear. I took the vehicle to the dealer, they run tests and tried to reproduce but no success. Besides the dealer no one checked anything due to there was no substantial damage or anything. The wheel completely separated from the control arm and folded under the truck, causing the vehicle to drop hard onto the suspension and nearly lose control. I was extremely fortunate not to be involved in a crash or killed. Photos taken immediately after the failure show the wheel collapsed under the truck and the damaged suspension components (upper/lower control arm and ball joint area). This is a sudden, total failure of a critical steering/suspension part with no prior warning symptoms that I noticed.

I was driving my Ram 1500 5.7L eTorque this morning (2022, ~36k miles). About 10 minutes in, I was stopped at a light and the truck shut down completely (engine, electric, etc.) There was no prior notice, nor was it having problems. When I tried to go as the light turned green, obviously the truck did not go. I noticed several panel lights come on, including the battery light. There was also a message that said something to the extent that the emergency brake had automatically engaged and needed to be released. After a minute, I was able to re-start the car and drive home. Cars behind me honked, and eventually went around me. I have an appointment to take the truck in, but no diagnosis as of now. I did research and read that this a known problem with the 5.7L eTorque, and that some trucks have been recalled (NHTSA Recall 23V-235) for similar issues, and there is also on ongoing investigation for others that were not part of the recall. My experience is similar to everything I've seen/read reported by other drivers (e.g., seemingly random stall with no prior warning, certain dash lights coming on, auto-engagement of the parking break).

On XXX at approximately 1:00 PM, while driving my 2022 Ram 1500 3.0L EcoDiesel on [XXX] east of [XXX]/north of [XXX], a rigid metal diesel fuel supply tube fractured at approximately 49,209 miles. The failure caused a substantial uncontrolled release of diesel fuel into the engine compartment and underneath the vehicle. Diesel fuel traveled underneath the truck and contaminated portions of the rear of the vehicle. The vehicle's check engine light came on, became disabled and required repair away from home. The failed component has been retained. Photographs show a visible crack/fracture in the metal tube itself rather than at a threaded connection. A replacement Mopar tube was obtained from a Ram dealer. The vehicle previously underwent the Ram/Stellantis high-pressure fuel pump (HPFP) safety recall, Recall 01A/NHTSA 23V-263, on XXX. I do not currently know whether the failed tube was replaced or disturbed during that repair and have requested the prior repair records. I am reporting this because a sudden pressurized diesel fuel leak into the engine compartment presents a potential fire hazard. I have retained the failed component and can make it available for inspection. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

On [XXX] at approximately [XXX], my 2022 RAM 1500 (VIN [XXX] ), equipped with the 5.7L V8 Hemi eTorque mild-hybrid system and currently at 45,000 miles, experienced a sudden engine shutdown and complete loss of throttle response while traveling approximately 25 mph on [XXX] , heading toward Colonia in active evening traffic. The accelerator pedal became unresponsive, the vehicle began coasting, and within seconds the truck shifted itself into PARK and engaged the parking brake automatically. I had to release the parking brake to move the vehicle off the road. After restarting, which required noticeably more cranking than normal, and disabling the auto-brake feature, I attempted to drive again. Within roughly 15 seconds the throttle was sluggish, the rear wheels chirped as the truck jerked and bucked, and the engine died a second time, again shifting into PARK and engaging the parking brake. The safety risk was significant: a sudden, uncommanded loss of motive power on a public road, followed by automatic PARK engagement and parking brake activation in active traffic, created a high risk of a rear-end collision and left me with no throttle control to safely position the vehicle. The only warning indication was a red battery icon that illuminated on the dashboard during the stall events themselves. There were no warning lights, messages, or other symptoms in the days or weeks leading up to the failure. I did experience a single similar stall some time ago during extremely cold weather, but yesterday was a warm day, so a cold-temperature correlation does not appear to apply here. The vehicle has not yet been inspected or the problem reproduced by a dealer, independent service center, manufacturer, police, or insurance representative. The 2022 Ram 1500 frequently experiences infotainment issues involving its Uconnect 5 system, characterized by loud buzzing or popping noises, "screen bouncing" (glitchy movement or flickering), and spontaneous reboots. These symptoms often result from software bugs, a full memory cache, or, in some cases, hardware defects requiring a complete unit replacement. Some issues tied to this are Loss of Rearview Visibility, The radio software can prevent the backup camera image from displaying on the center screen when you shift into reverse. Driver Distraction from "Ghost Touching" and Loud Noise, Impairment of Integrated Safety Controls: In the 2022 Ram, the infotainment screen is often the only way to access or adjust certain safety-related features. Climate & Defrosting: If the screen is frozen or inoperable, drivers may be unable to activate the windshield defroster or adjust climate controls, which can lead to limited visibility in cold or humid conditions. There has been a recall notice for a similar issue with the camera systems not functioning properly and displaying on the infotainment screen however this is a completely separate issue that thousands are experiencing. I own a 2022 Ram 1500 Bighorn with approximately 84,000 miles. This vehicle has repeatedly experienced a severe safety defect that began around 20,000 miles. On four separate occasions, the truck has suddenly decelerated in traffic without warning, would not shift out of gear, and in some cases would not shut off even when pressing the start/stop button. During the most recent incident, I was unable to pull over safely because the powertrain locked up, putting myself and surrounding drivers at extreme risk. My wife and I as well as a good Samaritan stranger almost got ran over while checking to see what's wrong. Police showed up and called for a tow truck, since the incident was happening in a state hwy. Each time I brought the truck to the dealership, I showed photos and videos of the issue, but the dealership claimed they could not reproduce it. Now the dealership is telling me I must pay $1,127 just for them to look inside the transmission, and potentially $2,800–$11,000 for repairs. This is a safety-critical defect that began well within the warranty period and has progressively worsened. A sudden loss of power and inability to control the vehicle is dangerous and could result in a crash, injury, or death. I believe this issue should be investigated for a recall or manufacturer responsibility due to multiple reports of similar failures in Ram 1500 models. I have videos of the incidents in 2025 at 80k miles, and a video in 2024 at 43k miles that show the live incidents.

While driving at low speeds in downtown traffic with the automatic stop/start system active, I stopped at a red light. The system engaged and shut off the engine as expected. However, when I attempted to accelerate, the truck stalled. The gear shift unexpectedly moved from Drive to Park, and the parking brake activated. I applied the brake and restarted the engine, but had to manually disengage the parking brake before continuing. At the next red light, the stop/start system again shut off the engine. Upon attempting to drive, the truck stalled a second time. I restarted the engine, but this time the auto stop alert and battery warning lights illuminated. The truck moved forward very slowly, appeared to struggle shifting into gear, and then suddenly lurched forward. I had to quickly apply the brakes to regain control. The vehicle is currently at the dealership undergoing inspection for a faulty tire pressure sensor and this auto stop system problem. This is the third time the truck has experienced the auto stop issue in the past two years. The problem has not been able to be replicated at the dealership and no repairs have been made.

On September 11, I remember because of the date, I was coming up to traffic on Flamingo heading east to Nellis Rd. As I started to brake the truck suddenly accelerated rapidly. I slammed on the brakes and barely stopped in time to not rear end the car ahead of me. I put it into park, then put it into drive and I made it home. This happened again yesterday October 6 as I came through the Carls drive through. Had to slam on my brakes again to stop.

My 2022 Ram 1500 TRX has recurring safety-related failures of the infotainment system affecting Uconnect 5 (12” screen). These issues are widespread in 2021–2024 Ram TRX and Ram 1500 models and began or worsened after forced over-the-air updates. The primary defect is black-screen failures while driving. When the screen goes black or freezes, the truck loses all functions controlled through the display, including HVAC/defrost, backup camera, vehicle settings, seat controls, and performance gauges. This creates an immediate safety hazard: I cannot adjust climate/defrost, cannot see the required rear-view camera when shifting to reverse, and cannot access key vehicle information. Owners across multiple years consistently report: • Black screens, freezes, and reboots • Loss of HVAC control and dual-zone functions • Backup camera not displaying • Backup camera freezing with picture • Vehicle/Apps tabs failing to open • Uconnect error messages • Smaller, harder-to-read gauges after updates • Wireless CarPlay/Android Auto failures • No option to decline or roll back OTA updates These failures distract the driver, remove access to federally required equipment (rear camera), and eliminate visibility and climate controls that directly affect safe operation. The system becomes unpredictable and unstable despite the vehicle being in motion. My vehicle experiences the same issues, including what was listed above Because this affects essential safety-related controls and visibility, I believe this is a safety defect in Ram/Stellantis Uconnect 5 systems. I request NHTSA open a defect investigation and require Ram to correct these failures.

"I am filing a formal safety complaint regarding a recurring, dangerous safety violation in my 2022 Ram truck. The entire Uconnect infotainment screen completely blacks out, freezes, and enters an unexpected reboot cycle while the vehicle is in operation. This total system failure causes an intermittent, complete loss of the rearview backup camera, creating an immediate crash hazard and placing the vehicle in direct non-compliance with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 111 (FMVSS 111). Furthermore, when the system crashes, it completely disables all cabin environment controls—preventing the use of the windshield defroster—and creates a severe, unpredictable distraction while driving in traffic until the system finishes recycling."

I purchased my Ram 1500 5.7 2022 new last year. The vehicle has experienced multiple electrical failures. The infotainment screen stopped working, causing the backup camera to become inoperative. The horn no longer functions, the air conditioning stopped working, and the power windows will not roll down. These failures occurred without warning. The loss of the backup camera and horn creates a significant safety concern because they are important safety features. I am reporting this issue so NHTSA can determine whether this represents a safety-related defect affecting other Ram 1500 vehicles.

Everything came back One thing that stood out at the auto parts store that the dealership could not find, kind of frustrating. The report reads no valid data available for ESM on CAN - C or CAND-PT with the codes U1267x2 and u1267-00 power training system. ABS- c2206-00 c2100-9a I’m hoping for help as now the truck is shortly out of warranty with miles now being 36400 miles. I also acknowledge that the car was cut out while driving at one point before all this happened. They couldn’t find anything so now I’m at a point where the truck doesn’t start without a jump I could probably take a video and show you right now. It’s probably dead. I went on vacation a week of Feb 8 out of town and I had to call my insurance company to give it a jump. There are other times the truck stall or cut off while driving. They drove the car and still couldn’t find the issues that I had and it’s starting to happen again.. so far Falls Dodge has been accommodating, but it’s very frustrating. A multitude of error messages popped up on the cluster and the truck ended up in “limp mode” meaning it would not move. I am submitting this formal complaint regarding my Ram 1500, which I purchased from Tuttle-Click’s Tustin Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram less than one year ago. Despite the vehicle being relatively new to me, I have experienced multiple serious electrical and safety-related failures, including non-functioning power windows, air conditioning, horn, infotainment/display screen, backup camera, and vehicle sensors. These are not minor inconveniences; several of these failures directly affect the safe operation of the vehicle and my ability to properly operate and maneuver it. I do not believe a vehicle with these systems malfunctioning should be considered safe to drive. I am extremely concerned that I have encountered these problems after purchasing the vehicle from an authorized dealership and after spending my hard-earned money expecting a safe and reliable vehicle. I am requesting that these defects be thoroughly investigated and corrected immediately. I also urge the manufacturer and dealership to review whether similar electrical and safety complaints involving Ram 1500 vehicles indicate a broader recurring problem. I expect a prompt response and a meaningful resolution because I should not be placed in a position where I have to risk my safety or the safety of others simply by operating a vehicle I recently purchased.

I purchased my 2022 Ram 1500 5.7L new. Since purchasing the vehicle, it has experienced multiple electrical system failures that occurred without warning. The infotainment screen stopped functioning, which also caused the backup camera to become inoperative. In addition, the horn no longer works, the air conditioning has failed, and the power windows will not operate. These failures appear to be related to the vehicle's electrical system and have significantly affected both the safety and usability of the truck. The loss of the backup camera reduces visibility while reversing, increasing the risk of a crash. The horn is an essential safety feature used to warn other drivers and pedestrians of potential hazards, and its failure creates an additional safety risk. The vehicle was purchased new and has experienced multiple critical electrical failures affecting several systems. I am submitting this complaint so the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) can investigate whether these electrical failures represent a safety-related defect affecting other 2022 Ram 1500 vehicles.

While driving the steering randomly gets stiff when turning to the left. This seems to only happen while on the highway. After googling issues with this model vehicle, I found that the electronic power steering system could be the culprit. I am not sure but it makes sense. This is a big safety concern because it could cause an accident and possible life loss. I have taken this vehicle in a few times about this issue. I have even showed the dealer a few videos of the issue while it was happening, but the dealer for some reason said thy could not reproduce the problem.

While driving down a straight road going approximately 20 mph my truck pulled me hard to the left and I was unable to control it. The assembly for my front left wheel completely came apart, and my truck was stranded in the middle of the road, without me being able to move it forward or backwards. The dealer stated that the ball joints to the upper and lower control arms both popped out at the same time. The dealer stated that they were unsure why this happened, and that there was no damage or wear to the ball joints. Upon doing my own research, I was able to find an online thread with many other consumers who had the same exact problem as me. Many people stated that it is an issue with the stock upper and lower control arms, and that because of how the truck sits, it puts the ball joints at their limits Increasing the chances of them popping out. Now, my truck is sitting at the dealership with no estimated time of repair due to them being unable to get any parts. My fear is that my safety would have been impacted if this happened at a higher rate of speed on a busier road, such as a highway. There were no warnings or indications that anything was wrong with my truck, and it was driving completely normal up until the incident. I also fear of this happening again since they are replacing the damage parts with stock parts, as well as me being unsure, if this will happen to the other side of my vehicle as well.

Our 2022 Ram 1500 Diesel truck stranded us from approx. 9pm-1am while traveling hours home on a remote MS state hwy intersection and shut our engine down, locked all 4 wheels & disabled our ability to put the vehicle in neutral to push from the roadway. We were left stranded in a main lane of a busy intersection at 10 pm at night. The local PD showed up and had to block traffic and our truck had to be 'pulled' onto/off of a flatbed tow truck (wheels would not turn) and hauled to the local dealer. We had nowhere to go as the local dealer was closed & no rental agencies were open so we had to sit outside in the parking lot of the dealership until midnight for a friend to arrive from our hometown to come pick us up. We are being told that our high pressure fuel pump failed and our truck is part of a recall (that still shows online as 'remedy not yet available'?) & that it may take up to a month to get it back due to parts delays/repair time. No warning lamps or message appeared on the dash prior to this occurring and we received no letter telling us to 'seek service asap'...the letter we recall receiving said the same as what appears online?? Our hometown dealer said they could not offer us a loaner since the vehicle was not in their shop, yet Ram will not tow it to them, and the dealer we left it at 2 hrs away has no loaner vehicles available so we have now had to pay nearly $300 OOP for the tow and call the corp. office to file 'cases' to REQUEST RETROACTIVE reimbursement of the tow expense & a whopping $40/day from Ram towards a rental vehicle! We have now paid nearly $1k OOP in 5 days for towing and rental expenses which only get us to 8/13 and the ETA for repair is not til 8/27 at best. This is clearly in no way a 'timely repair' of a safety recall!? We have called all 3 customer care numbers for Ram to no avail. We need their financial assistance UP FRONT to pay for these expenses while we await the repair of our fully warrantied vehicle!

The wheel and suspension systems have been attempted to be repaired multiple times by two different Chrysler Dodge dealerships. To no avail, no resolve. In fact while I was driving the highway after picking up the vehicle this last time, the tailgate opened and triggered the backup camera emergency brakes. We stopped instantly in the middle of the highway. We didn’t hear or know about a recall until three weeks later when we got a letter in the mail. The dealer we purchased the vehicle from did not reach out. All of the problems associated with the truck have been acknowledged by the dealer, second opinion dealership, and Chrysler. P275 / 65r 18 The passenger front tire had a side wall blow out that just about took me off the road. Luckily I regained control of my truck before getting in an accident. The service center closest to where I was located somehow patched the sidewalk which I don't think they are legally supposed to do. In addition, these tires have very little tread left after only 30,000 miles. I'm extremely disappointed with the fact that I have to buy new tires already and the fact that without any explanation from the service center about the possible cause of the sidewall blow out, they were reluctant to speculate.

Factory oversight perhaps. What brought it to my attention was that it appeared to be "stretched" in appearance which looked peculiar. I proceeded to lift up the rear seat exposing the dangling locking side of the belt. It appeared that is was brand new, no bolt or washer scratches etc., indicating that it was never attached from the factory. The date below will be the date I noticed that it was not attached.

Dodge has a "safety" feature to keep the vehicle from driving off if the driver exits the vehicle with it in gear. The safety mechanism detects the seatbelt undone, the driver seat sensor and the driver door open. If someone gets out of the vehicle while it is in Drive, the parking brake is automatically applied, the engine put in park then powered off. My problem is this "safety" mechanism has been faulty from day one and the vehicle randomly puts the parking break on or turns off the engine, while I am in the driver seat, with my seatbelt on, and the driver door shut. This has left me stranded for several minutes in various places including half-in dangerous intersections. Dodge denies there is any problem and refuses to look at it. When I take it in they just park it in their back lot for 3-4 weeks without ever moving it then say it all checked out fine. I have been complaining for two years. I recently found a law firm with pending litigation for this issue. https://www.newsom.law/ram-stalling.html#:~:text=%E2%80%8BNewsom%20Law%20PLC%20is,without%20warning%20while%20in%20motion

We purchased a Rhino USA Adjustable Trailer Hitch with locking hitch pins on Amazon. On its very first use, while towing our empty 1,600-pound Forester camper, the steel pin fractured where it enters the locking head. We heard the pin snap while making a slow turn about a quarter mile from our home. The locking head detached and was later found on the roadway. Fortunately, the pin remained in the receiver long enough for us to get home, but this could easily have resulted in the ball mount sliding out of the receiver and a trailer separation. We have retained both pieces of the failed pin and have photographs. Because the locking head detached and was found on the roadway, while the remaining pin stayed in the receiver only by chance, this failure had the potential to allow the ball mount to exit the receiver during travel which could be deadly to those on the highway. We have reported this to the manufacturer, but have not heard from them yet.
