Recalls and owner complaints reported to NHTSA
Compared with the typical (middle) count of 384 complaints across the 7 model-year 2023 half-ton trucks we cover. Best-selling trucks naturally collect more complaints because more of them are on the road.
Price & value
We don't guess at prices. Get a real value for the exact truck from Kelley Blue Book, then see how the asking price compares.
Is it a good deal?
- Look up the truck on Kelley Blue Book. Choose its cab, trim, options, miles, condition and your ZIP code, and note the private party value (or the fair purchase price if you're buying from a dealer).
- Enter that value and the asking price below.
Enter both numbers to see the deal rating.
The rating only compares the two numbers you enter: within 5% of the value is a good deal, 5–15% under is a great deal, and more than 15% under is a buy-it-now price. Know Your Truck isn't affiliated with Kelley Blue Book. Rust, accident history, lifts and mods, and service records all change what a truck is worth, so always get a pre-purchase inspection.
Owner's manual
Get the free official owner's manual from Toyota's owner's manuals page. Choose 2023 Tundra. It covers maintenance schedules, fluids, towing limits and warning lights. Older years may not be listed online.
Recalls
A recall doesn't mean a truck still has the problem. Enter the truck's VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls or ask a dealer to see whether the repair was done.

Toyota seems in no hurry to resolve the engine issue. Now they are not wanting to replace these engines as first promised.. What happens where there is a catastrophic failure later on. Dealerships are no help. When were they made aware of the engine issue and continue to sell these trucks. We as truck owners need someone to be our voice.

On August 21, 2026, I was driving South on US HWY 281 going approximately 70 miles per hour in the middle lane. Approximately near mile marker 540, the engine shut off and the truck rapidly decelerated. I luckily navigated the truck off the highway in heavy traffic. I attempted to restart the engine and it would not start. I had the truck towed to Shottenkirk Toyota and they diagnosed it as failed main crank bearings.

My radiator leaked engine coolant fluid while driving. The fan shroud warped from heat and rubbed against the radiator and punctured a hole in the radiator causing a slow leak. My vehicle became inoperable and had to pull over. It's been confirmed by the dealership and has a report No warnings prior to failure, though the leak look to have been a slow leak that was in the engine bay and on driveway just faintly so it had been an issue that had been progressing over time. The warnings first appeared for high temp when the coolant was totally out and mentioned the vehicle was overheating and to pull over.

On XXX my 2023 Toyota Tundra Limited’s check engine light came on and after consulting with my service center, Jones Toyota in Bel Air, MD, via phone I brought the truck into Jones to be assessed. Jones diagnosed the problem and determined a physical failure of the passenger-side turbocharger. The vehicle is currently disabled and located at Jones Toyota in Bel Air, MD, undergoing service for the turbo failure. My vehicle is also subject to active safety Recall Campaign 25TA14 for manufacturing debris in the V35A engine block, but the dealership and manufacturer are treating the turbo failure as a separate repair item and have not linked it to the recall in writing. Operating a twin-turbo V6 platform experiencing sudden propulsion and turbo loss—while an open, un-remedied main bearing engine recall remains pending on the same vehicle—presents a severe underlying safety and mechanical failure pattern putting anyone in the vehicle or on the road with the vehicle when its being operated at risk

-Our Toyota Tundra Hybrid suffered total catastrophic engine failure due to metal shavings found throughout the engine and oil system. This is the same issue that prompted NHTSA ID Number: 25V767000 recall of Toyota's V35A engines. The tundra is available for inspection. -Statement regarding safety put at risk by my husband: I felt a vibration from the engine compartment (seeming to come from the front right side) and then I suddenly lost complete power. I was traveling in the number one lane (the fast lane). I immediately put my hazards on and had to navigate to the number two lane and then over to the narrow shoulder under no power whatsoever. I had to navigate around multiple semi-trucks. This was a very dangerous situation and I barely got it over to the shoulder. If my teenage daughters were driving this car they likely wouldn't have been able to safely navigate it across two lanes with no power in the setting of multiple semi-trucks on a two-lane divided highway. Again, a very dangerous situation. I shut down the engine and waited five minutes and restarted it. Shifting into gear the warning indicator said 'hybrid system disconnected'. -The total catastrophic engine failure has been confirmed by the Toyota Dealership. Th4ey Confirmed multiple shavings of metal in the entire oil system and the engine has seized. He said that the engine needed to be replaced. -The tundra has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance (yet) or others besides the Toyota dealership. -There were no warning lamps, messages, or other symptom of the pending catastrophic total engine failure.

My wife and I purchased a brand new Tundra LTD in May 2023. An important note to keep in mind is that my wife and I not only purchased the new Tundra but also a new travel trailer so we could enjoy our nation's national parks during our retirement years. I will relate that to my complaint shortly. It wasn't long after our purchase that we became aware of the issue of machining debris possibly contaminating the engine block which can result in sudden engine failure. Right now, because Toyota has not resolved our issue and communication has generally been close to non-existent. We no longer feel we can safely take our truck and trailer to the remote national parks of the American southwest where distances are huge and help few and far between. We have visited the SW twice and want to do more while we are still young enough to do so but are worried about what a sudden breakdown would do. I called up Toyota and asked them to repurchase the Tundra so I could buy a new onw without the issue. I explained that I paid for the Truck in good faith but that they have not kept up the end of the bargain, the truck Toyota sold us is potentially unsafe and we'd like it fixed or repurchases which would allow us to buy a new truck. They closed out my official inquiry without comment or communication of any kind. Apparenty, they are just fine with consumers being sold a truck that may suddenly die on them. Anyway you folks can get Toyota to fairly take care of its customers?

Vehicle: 2023 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro Hybrid, VIN [XXX], approximately 40,000 miles. The electronic fuel door release failed due to a corroded fuel door sensor/connector (diagnosed by Premier Toyota, XXX). When the fuel door system does not engage, the tank's refueling valve does not open. As a result, gasoline spits back out of the filler neck during refueling, spilling fuel onto the vehicle and the ground. This creates a fire hazard at fuel stations. Many other owners of 2022-2024 Tundra Hybrid trucks report the identical failure. I believe this is a manufacturing defect in a sealed electrical component that creates a fuel-spill safety risk. Ive been waiting for years for the previous recalls I have been informed about to get fixed. Feul system, brake lights. Was told by Toyota that someone would call me to come to get them taken care of. In the meantime, constantly checking that my brake lights are working before departing on any excursions in truck & patiently waiting for toyota to reach out when they were gonna fix the first 2 recalls that I was notified about. I can't recall the date exactly, but I was driving on the highway w/ my still backward carseat, facing 2y.o. baby safely strapped in,ThankGod.As accelerating into my lane, heard huge BOOM like an IED. Immediately, the check engine light among others came on.Truck immediately lost power & was violently shaking.Felt it in the steering wheel, but largely in engine compartment.@this time,I tried to get over to shoulder to a safe place.I turned the car off.Let it rest checked on my infant in back made sure he was ok. After letting car rest, turn back on to my surprise All lights were off.I was w/in few miles of home so went directly back, never getting to my intended destination. Shortly before driveway, all lights came back on & multiple service messages.Since then the truck has not been driveable,As we have specifically looked up recalls, thusly Nov.recall matched lights on the dash for the specific make, year, model of truck. From my understanding, it says that there is no remedy for such recall. But that is untrue. The remedy is an entirely new engine. They just haven't rolled out the recall info to everyone applicable. I am unable to work. My home is without a vehicle and this is unacceptable.Along w/ safety risk to me and infant. I'm sure Toyota doesn't want to admit or remedy Because that is very costly. But this was a mistake made by the company. And it should be remedied, because our family is suffering in various ways. Lost revenue. Inability to respond if emergency etc.I need a new engine.& in the interim,I need a car supplied while fixed.

Throttle response is unpredictable. From a stop sign, acceleration is difficult to predict. Sometimes a one second delay occures before acceleration power is effected. With the time delay the throttle has been pressed further than normal. In heavy traffic, a collision could be possible. The problem got worse after a firmware update, during a safety recall to replace rearview touch screen. Pedal Lag problem is noted on Toyota Tundra forum.

The vehicle experiences hesitation when starting to move from a stop. So if i come to a stop and pull out into traffic it sometimes hesitates before applying the throttle that has been input via the pedal. This could cause serious injury because its almost impossible to determine when its safe to pull out into traffic because you do not know how long it will take for throttle to kick in.

turbo's have to be replaced because of a wastegate failure. This is a well known issue. My vehicle is at 66700 miles and Toyota has denied a good will claim. Though they admit there is nothing I could have done differently because its a defective part. My safety is put at risk because the truck goes into limp mode and a "reduced power" message is displayed. The dealership has confirmed the issue but because its 7k outside of warranty they are unwilling to do anything even though its a defect. Vehicle has only been inspected by dealership. they also have a diagnostic test for the total engine recall and its very subjective. I don't believe they are keeping safety in mind. I think they are trying to deny as many of those claims as possible.

The component that is failed/malfunctioning is the mode function of the HVAC blower system. After thorough online research this appears to be related to either the gear door actuator or the blend door being stuck or broken (gears, etc.). This prevents air from blowing out of any vents other than the defrost and feet modes. While it appears to be a common issue online the two Toyota dealerships will not provide any helpful information unless I agree to a minimum 250 diagnostic fee. I've replaced all the gear door actuators thus I believe it has to do with the blend door. The dealerships default response is "that's just how they are". There were no warnings, messages, etc. prior to failure. Failure was noticed upon start and longer than usual startup of the HVAC system, it now takes 30-60 seconds to attempt to calibrate before any air starts moving. And as stated earlier it just blows out of the defrost and foot functions, nothing out of the face vents.

I brought my Toyota Tundra to Gullo Toyota of Conroe for a routine service and a recall software update. The truck went in with a perfectly functioning front camera, and it came back with the camera completely blurry. The dealership is only 10 minutes from my home — I noticed the issue the moment I pulled into my garage. I assumed the camera was dirty and cleaned it several times, but nothing changed. When I called the dealership, the service advisor told me that the recall software update “tends to do that” to Tundra cameras. My truck is a 2023 with only 28,000 miles, so he scheduled me for another software update. After dropping it off, I received a text an hour later claiming my front camera was “chipped” and that replacing it would cost $2,500. I went back in person to get an explanation, and suddenly the story changed: now they insisted the camera was damaged by a rock before I brought the truck in. The service manager even made the absurd statement, “This didn’t happen on my driveway or service area.” The advisor, [name removed], claimed they have cameras everywhere, but when I asked to see footage, he had no answer. This is despite their own staff previously acknowledging that the software update can cause camera issues. They still refused to take responsibility or cover the repair. And here’s the thing: if the camera was accidentally broken by their drivers or mechanics, just be honest about it. Mistakes happen — lying about them is what destroys trust. When I escalated to the service manager, the situation got even worse. He was rude, dismissive, and condescending — making confident claims with zero evidence, contradicting what his own advisor had already told me. Instead of investigating, he doubled down on denial. A front camera is a safety feature. A dealership performing recall work that results in a malfunction, and accidentally breaks it, should fix it — not lie, deflect, and blame the customer.

While driving the vehicle on a public roadway at approximately 70mph, the vehicle suffered a sudden and catastrophic powertrain failure without timely warning. The check engine light illuminated, the physical engine oil pressure gauge dropped to absolute zero, and the dashboard immediately flashed a critical "Hybrid System Malfunction" warning. > This mechanical and electrical failure triggered an instantaneous, total loss of motor power while traveling live lane with traffic behind me. The vehicle immediately stalled and became a completely inoperable, unresponsive rolling hazard. The vehicle failed to restart and left me stranded on a narrow shoulder which was very hazardous as traffic coming at high speeds could have easily rear ended me. The vehicle required a flatbed tow to an authorized Toyota dealership, and after submitting a case with corporate hoping for a trade assist(as my wife no longer feels safe in this chassis), I have been told it will take up to 45 days to process this request. I made a significant investment in this vehicle in January of 2023 and have since methodically kept up with maintenance, with hopes this vehicle would last me 10+ years. I find it highly inexcusable for Toyota to not consider speedily helping a loyal customer in this situation and making it right in a timely manner. I am now being offered a vehicle the same as mine of the current year and with me having to put over 22K in equity to close the gap. I should not be left on the hook for something that put my safety at risk and now has left me without the ability to travel as my family has lost their main method of transportation. Manufacturing defects should not come at the customers expense.

The 2023 Toyota Tundra Hybrid’s powertrain design may be insufficient to maintain basic safety maneuvers (specifically "limp mode" or emergency clearing) during an engine failure while operating under high-load conditions in mountainous terrain. This creates a life-threatening hazard for the occupants and other motorists. Statement of Fact: As an owner of a 2023 Toyota Tundra Hybrid, I primarily utilize this vehicle to tow a 9,000 lbs travel trailer through the high-altitude, steep-grade regions of Utah. These routes frequently consist of narrow, two-lane mountain passes with no shoulders and steep drop-offs. Failure Under Stress: Engineering logic suggests that engine stress is highest during heavy towing on steep grades. If a primary engine failure occurs in these conditions, the hybrid system’s battery and electric motor capacity are, in my experience, inadequate to move a combined Gross Combined Vehicle Weight (GCVW) of approximately 15,000+ lbs to a safe location. While the hybrid system may allow a light, unladen vehicle to limp to a shoulder under "ideal conditions," it lacks the torque and sustained power to move a heavy trailer on a grade once the internal combustion engine is compromised. In the event of a failure, the vehicle would likely become "dead in the water" in the middle of a live, narrow lane on a blind mountain curve. Without the ability to reach a turnout or even a marginal shoulder due to the weight of the load, the vehicle becomes a stationary target for other high-speed mountain traffic, posing a severe risk of rear-end collisions and multi-car accidents. I am requesting that the NHTSA investigate the performance of the Tundra Hybrid’s "fail-safe" modes specifically under maximum towing capacity on grades.

As many have spoken about already, I have the hesitation or lag from stop or rolling at very slow speeds. I kind of learned to live with it but feel it's getting worse. My wife had to drive the truck, and she said it was very scary and did not feel safe. I know it is not the engine as I had it replaced and problem is still very much there! There have been so many issues with this truck. Brakes have never stopped squeaking; one dealership guy told me it is the cheap pads Toyota put on them.

My Tundra has been having lagged throttle after takeoff for a few months now going into 2026. My truck is slightly over 50k Miles and did well for the first 40k Miles. Last week it went limp and gave a loss of Power Warning and Check engine light came on. Then the very next day a parking brake assist warning came on. I brought it to the dealer and after 4 days they couldn't replicate the warning light but seen that the Turbo had failure. They said they could not change the Turbo since theres an active Engine recall on my truck. My truck is sitting at the dealer with no committed date or fix for when my engine will be replaced. Not sure what to even do as im paying on a truck i cant even drive. Aside from this major issue ive had two window motors replaced and a non working hamstring leg rest motor. They instead offered to sell me a new 2026 which felt sleazy on their part. I will not be staying with my 2023 Tundra if and when i get it back knowing we only get a 1 year warranty and crate engines are already failing. Toyota is treating their faithful clients horribly on this issue they caused. Id go as far as saying this should be part of the Lemon Law act and more needs to be done.

The truck “detected” a warning collision when there was no one in front of me which made the engine lag. There for causing me to come to an abrupt stop from 40 mph. I stepped on the gas to get back up to speed with traffic beside and behind me and there was no power almost causing an accident. This is the 3rd time this truck has done this in 6 months.

-There were no warning lamps, messages, or other symptom of the pending catastrophic total engine failure.

was waiting for the traffic light to turn green. Vehicle in drive with foot on brake. the traffic light turned green, I took my foot off the brakes and pushed on the accelerator. Nothin happened. I saw another vehicle approaching at a high rate of speed behind me so I continued to mash on the accelerator. right before being hit by the car behind me my vehicle lurched forward a few feet then stopped again. I looked at the dash display and saw a "Hybrid System Malfunction" warning. Because of the traffic situation/location it was not safe to just sit in the road so I continued to pump on the accelerator. each pumped moved the vehicle forward a couple of feet. I did not turn of the engine because I was unsure what would happen so I continued to do that for about a mile or so until I could get to a safe place to pull over. during this time, I almost got rear-ended and side-swiped several times. Once stopped I attempted to start the vehicle several times and got the "Hybrid System Malfunction" display and the vehicle would not start. I waited for about an hour with the vehicle off and restarted the engine. I stayed off the freeway and took backroads to the closest dealer service center where it is currently located. When I dropped it off the service rep said he hasn't seen anything like this. Prior to this incident I had no issues with the truck and it was last serviced by the dealership on March 4, 2026.

While driving on a two-lane highway at approximately 80–85 mph and attempting to pass another vehicle, the engine suddenly shut off without warning. The vehicle lost all propulsion, and steering assist was significantly reduced, creating a dangerous situation and nearly resulting in a head-on collision with oncoming traffic. Warning lights including check engine and low power steering illuminated immediately after the stall. The vehicle would not restart for several minutes and was temporarily disabled in the roadway. The vehicle was later inspected by a dealership, which confirmed through diagnostic data that multiple engine stall events occurred at highway speeds. The inspection also identified system-wide electrical voltage drops and multiple communication faults between control modules. The dealership attributed the issue to a loose battery terminal; however, the diagnostic report indicates prior voltage irregularities and multiple affected systems, suggesting a broader failure condition. This incident is consistent with an active safety recall affecting this vehicle, which states that the engine may stall during driving. The failure has not been reproduced since the initial incident, but the vehicle has documented evidence of multiple stall events and remains a safety concern. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. Due to the sudden loss of power at highway speed and the inability to safely control or accelerate the vehicle, this issue poses a serious risk to the driver and others on the road.

Unknown. Intermittently when merging into highway traffic from the onramp, the truck will stall and I will lose acceleration. There will be a loss in power and the truck speed will not change. instead it will just coast with no ability to change speed. I have owned the truck for 1 year and 3months. I advised the dealer and they can not duplicate the issue.

Forward facing Camera's: After vehicle was recalled for a refacing camera issue and repaired for that recall, now the forward facing camera does not work properly. When coming to stop or while stopped the forward facing camera's no longer work. They only come on when I get close to something. They also no longer read speed limit signs. When stopped at a cross walk if a child runs in front of the vehicle I do not get a warning until the child is directly in front of the vehicle. This could cause me to hit a child based on the height of the child and being blocked by the hood of the vehicle. I need the forward camera's to activate at 5 miles per hour or slower and stay on when stopped until going over 5 miles per hour like they did before the backup camara recall was installed on my truck.

Tundra has had and has throttle lag. Lag is so noticeable that other drivers notice. Following lag is a burst of power causing a jerk and or lunge forward. This is after a long pause. Happens on a roll, or start-stop situation. My truck has had the toyota tsb applied a long time ago.

I experience delayed throttle response and throttle lag daily. Acceleration is unpredictable. The vehicle barely moves in some cases when pressing the gas pedal. Other times, the tires will chirp. The vehicle will sometimes hesitate so long to accelerate, that I've almost been T-boned and I've held up traffic. It seems like the truck thinks I'm going to run into something, even when there's nothing in front of me. The delay is sometimes 3-5 seconds before it will allow any acceleration. This seems like a huge safety issue, not being able to get out of the way of oncoming traffic and having such an unpredictable, and often delayed throttle response.

Multiple vehicle systems have malfunctioned, including the transmission, infotainment/display screen, and backup camera. Most recently, the backup camera has stopped functioning, preventing a rear view while reversing. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request, along with any service records documenting prior repair attempts. The transmission issues created an unsafe driving condition due to unpredictable shifting and hesitation. In addition, the backup camera is no longer functioning, significantly reducing rear visibility while reversing and increasing the risk of striking a pedestrian, child, vehicle, or object. These defects pose a safety risk to both the driver and others around the vehicle. The vehicle has been presented to an authorized Toyota dealership on multiple occasions for repair of various issues. Most recently, I sought service for the inoperative backup camera but was refused service. Previous concerns have been documented through dealership service visits. The vehicle has been inspected by an authorized Toyota dealership during previous repair attempts. It has not been inspected by police or insurance representatives. The vehicle experienced ongoing drivability and infotainment issues before the backup camera failed. The backup camera eventually stopped functioning entirely.

My reverse stopped working, it just shows a black screen when I switch to it. The rest of my entertainment console works, it's only when I put it in reverse that it goes black. I saw that there was a recall issued for 2024 and 2025 Toyota Tundras, but I believe that the 2023 should be included as well. It looks to be a common issue, as I saw 2023 Tundras with a higher trim package also had a recall for the backup camera.

Over the past several months my truck 2023 toyota tundra has randomly died, completely shut off and sputtered to a stop. After these instances occurred the vehicle has had trouble to re-start. As a result I took my truck into the local dealership in Topeka KS, Lewis toyota, which did not complete any of the recall work, they said that the inicident could not be duplicated. For follow up, I took my vehicle to crown toyota where its currently receiving body repair from an unrelated traffic accident. I have given the service manager [name removed] the total background of what has happened verbally several times, outlining the vehicle randomly just shutting down and not being able to re-start until several minutes has past and computer reset occurs. I feel that the vehicle is un safe to drive and toyota is not honoring any proactive follow up with my claim, stating that the dealerships have not been trained on the procedures to perform the work or the repair and pointing toward toyota corporate offices for a fix. I'm exaughsted from the endless loop and I want to ensure I receive a safe and reliable vehicle back from toyota. To date, the dealership has had my truck in there possession over two months with no resolution. The type of customer service and lack of follow up on critical safety items I feel puts our roadways at further risk of continual accidents due to toyotas lack of engagement and follow up. I take full advantage of the freedoms we enjoy every day, being a service disabled Air Force Veteran of over 20 years of service, I take great pride in the active checks and balances holding us all accountable. I appreciate your efforts and follow up regarding my claim. Dont hesitate to email me or follow up by phone. [XXX] - [XXX], thank you! I own a 2023 Toyota Tundra that is part of the major engine recall due to machining debris in the 3.4L V6 engine. A few days prior to the failure, I called the dealership to raise concerns that the acceleration was starting to not act right. Despite this, while driving at 70 mph on the highway yesterday (May 22, 2026), the engine suddenly failed and died without any prior warning, it is my belief that this is due to the open recall. This created a very dangerous situation as I was traveling at highway speed and could have been rear-ended or lost control of the vehicle. The truck had to be towed to the dealership. The truck now has 33,000 miles. I purchased it used for $49,000 with only 11,000 miles. This is the same known defect Toyota has issued a recall for, yet my engine still failed catastrophically. I am extremely concerned that this failure has caused additional damage to the transmission, drivetrain, or other components. I have completely lost confidence in the safety and reliability of this vehicle. Even after the planned engine replacement, I do not feel safe driving it due to the risk of future failure and the known history of this defect. I am requesting that Toyota provide a full buyback or replacement because this sudden engine failure at highway speeds poses a serious safety risk. Toyota has been notified, but I want this incident officially documented with NHTSA due to the widespread nature of these engine failures in 2022-2023 Tundras.

Vehicle Information: 2023 Toyota Tundra Limited TRD Off-Road (Equipped with Factory Tires) [1] Current Mileage: Approximately 26,000 miles Description of Safety Defect: The factory-installed tires on this vehicle are exhibiting premature, severe tire dry rot (sidewall/tread cracking) and highly accelerated, uneven tread wear at only 26,000 miles. The depth of the rot and the erratic wear pattern present an immediate structural hazard, significantly increasing the risk of a sudden tread separation, sidewall blowout, or catastrophic tire failure at highway speeds. Despite proper vehicle maintenance, alignment checks, and routine tire rotations, the rubber compound has degraded at an unacceptable and unsafe rate for a low-mileage, modern vehicle. This premature deterioration compromises wet-weather traction, braking efficiency, and overall vehicle handling. The severe degradation of these original equipment manufacturer (OEM) tires constitutes a clear manufacturing defect that poses an ongoing safety risk to the driver, passengers, and other motorists on the road.

Vehicle is subject to two active safety recalls, both listed as “remedy not available.” One recall involves a potential engine defect related to manufacturing debris, which may result in engine damage and sudden loss of motive power. Manufacturer recall documentation indicates this condition may increase the risk of a stall, particularly under sustained load such as towing or highway operation. A second recall involves reverse lamp failure, which reduces rear visibility and may increase the risk of a crash when backing. No failure event has occurred. However, both safety defects remain unresolved, and no repair or timeline for remedy has been provided. The vehicle is used for towing and hauling, which requires sustained engine load. Due to the risk of engine stall under load and the absence of manufacturer guidance regarding safe operation, use of the vehicle for towing and long-distance travel has been limited. These conditions have been confirmed through manufacturer recall notices. The vehicle has not been repaired because a remedy is not yet available. No warning lights or symptoms have been observed. The concern is based on the nature of the defects described in the recall and the lack of available repair or operational guidance.

I've saved video on my dash cam and can't see anything from the roadway coming at the truck during that time.

This vehicle has tow mirrors that are located way too high for the driver to see over them - I'm 5'10" and my son is 6'0" and neither of us can see over these mirrors. Over the past year I have had multiple close calls because of the very large blind spot created by the tow mirrors on this vehicle. There is also excessive plastic around the mirror that excerbates the problem. It is only a period of time before a serious accident or a pedestrian collision will happen because of this manuracturing/design defect. Very concerned and disappointed. One specific incident was when I was turning onto a road at a slight and looked both ways and pulled out in front a car that was behind the blind spot and going 60 mph. Very close to a major accident.

The driver's side front seat lower plastic shield/trim panel completely fractured under normal, everyday usage conditions. The material failed and cracked into sharp, jagged pieces that protrude out into the cabin entryway/exitway. While exiting the vehicle at approximately 57,00, this broke plastic snagged and nearly caused a severe puncture or laceration injury to my leg. The component houses seat controls and sits adjacent to the side airbag module. Toyota has acknowledged this design flaw in Technical Service Bulletin T-SB-0007-24, but the component has fractured into a sharp, physical hazard inside the cabin, creating an immediate risk of occupant injury. Bottomline: The factory driver-side seat panel broke into sharp pieces and caused imminent leg injury hazard during vehicle exit.

I hit nothing and no damage whatsoever with exception of nearly $10,000.00 interior damage from airbag deployment.

- A dealership in DFW replaced the drive seat frame in truck due to metal creaking while driving. After the replacement everything was fine until my friend hit her toe against driver side seat frame covered by felt tape. From the factory the truck comes with plastic frame guards to prevent injury to rear passengers but Toyota has failed to fix the issue several times. I recently found out that all Tundra's with powered seats have this safety issue as I was talking to dealer employee who recently purchased a 2024 Tundra then we walked the lot and every single higher trim Tundra with powered seats all have this felt tape over the metal substructure. The felt tape provides no shock absorbing properties resulting in bruising when a rear passenger tries to exit the truck wearing open toe shoes.

The tailgate opens on its own while I am traveling down the highway. I now have to brace anything I put in the bed of the truck lest the tailgate opens on the highway and I spill my load and cause a catastrophic injury or death on the highway. When shifting into Park, having to keep my brakes firmly engaged due to a periodic and rapid acceleration of the engine. At cruising speed, on the highway, a vibration that only occurs when climbing hills coupled with a rapid pulsing of the engine/transmission. At cruising speed, on a level ground, the transmission rapidly disengages and reengages. Weekly I have gauge and infotainment malfunctions wherein I have to turn off the truck and restart it to make the gauges work. The gauges just freeze and fail to respond. The compass flips direction. Malfunctioning gas gauge. The backdoors lock and will not unlock. Occasionally, when they lock, I have to crawl into the backseat, from the from seat and manually unlock the door from the inside of the truck. A flat tire where when I went to change it, the jack bent…in my driveway. I now have to carry a 3rd-party jack and tools to handle emergency repairs. A regular malfunction of the rearview mirror. A cracked drivers seat. 6-months after purchasing the truck, the door trim came off in my hand. When I spoke to the Toyota tech, he advised me that this was not covered under warranty, and suggested that some customers keep the trim off as “most of the trim was installed with double-sided tape and would just fail again”. Though, to be fair, he did offer to, at several hundred dollars a pop, keep replacing the trim every couple of months. While my Truck is parked in the garage, when the trucks system does an update, it opens my garage door.
