Price & value

We don't guess at prices. Get a real value for the exact truck from Kelley Blue Book, then see how the asking price compares.

Is it a good deal?

  1. Look up the truck on Kelley Blue Book. Choose its cab, trim, options, miles, condition and your ZIP code, and note the private party value (or the fair purchase price if you're buying from a dealer).
  2. Enter that value and the asking price below.

My 2024 gmc sierra 6.2 engine had th recall scope work done on the engine. I was told it passed and they changed the oil to the 0-40. Well apparently that was not the case and the bearings in the drive shaft and whatever holds it together broke.

2024 Vehicle is part of the massive GMC 6.2L engine recall. The vehicle was called into the dealership on 1/6/2026 (10,437 Miles / 320.9 Engine Hours) for recall evaluation. Testing indicated vehicle was NOT a candidate for a new motor so oil and oil filter were changed to 0W-40 and I was sent on my way. Vehicle started a tapping noise at idle. Dealer advised the next week was the soonest I could be seen so I set up an appointment for Monday 8/31/2026 . I used the vehicle on Saturday [XXX] and while returning home it began making a racket emitting all types of terrible noises. I was only a few miles from the dealer so I limped into the dealship and left the vehicle on their lot. I spoke to the dealership on Monday 8/31/26 and was advised the vehicle would be evaluated later that day. I spoke to the dealership on Tuesday 9/1/26 and was advised the 6.2L engine had failed (13,591 miles) and parts had been ordered. Dealer advised it would probably be 6 - 8 weeks to get the truck returned. I am a trailer boater and also pull a trailer with a side by side. These activities are why I own a truck. Dealer advised I could get a loaner vehicle but that it was illegal to tow a trailer in Illinois with dealer plates. I ended up trading the vehicle for a new truck and suffered a large unplanned expense ( $20,537) as a result. Since the vehicle had failed and was not driveable it was impossible for me to go elsewhere to trade in this vehicle to a competitor. As a result of the failure I feel I was held hostage to buy another GMC. The vehicle did not show any abnormal gage readings or dispaly any warnings. I am reporting a catastrophic engine failure on my GM vehicle equipped with the 6.2L L87 V8 engine. This failure occurred AFTER the official recall remedy (Recall 25V-274/ GM Recall N242494000) was performed on my vehicle, which directly aligns with NHTSA's active investigation under Engineering Analysis EA26005. The recall service was completed by an authorized GM dealership on XXX at 22,489 miles, the vehicle had the L87 Engine Loss of Propulsion recall completed and the PICO L87 Diagnostic Testing was completed and passed with recommended updated oil change to Mobil 1 Supercar 0W-40 (19432866) quantity 8 with 12737081 Filter and Cap Changeout. On XXX, at 26,752 miles, the engine suffered a catastrophic total mechanical failure. While driving, the vehicle experienced a sudden loss of motive power and a complete shutdown with no prior warning of any kind while driving down [XXX] at approximately 45 to 50 MPH. This created an immediate safety hazard on a public roadway. The vehicle was towed to Key GMC in [XXX] where technicians confirmed Engine Seized Up. Spun connecting rod bearings at cylinder 7&8. The vehicle was at the dealership awaiting parts for repair for 65 days due to engine backorder (engine, radiator, starter, cooling lines and miscellaneous parts ultimately replaced). Because this failure occurred after GM's official remedy was implemented, the recall clearly failed to correct the underlying safety defect. I request that NHTSB include this incident in its ongoing evaluation GM's 6.2L engine issues under EA26005. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

On 9-5-26 while on interstate 75 going about 75 miles per hour truck started losing propulsion and speed started dropping. No warning light or anything. Navigated over to shoulder turn truck off for about 5-10 minutes and started back. On 9-8-26 on the way from Dr. appt. starting truck up it acted like it didn't want to start but did. Eventually stopped at red light and truck died and wouldn't start. Dash board lighting up and when trying to start the engine would not turn over. No warning light or anything. Truck towed but had to drag on the wrecker due to wheels locked up. On 9-16 GMC advised engine fail and will need replacing at 12,000 miles. VERY UNACCEPTABLE FOR 2024. Truck was bought new in October 2023 with 4 miles. Found out it is a known issue with the 6.2 V8. Be careful. We could have been killed in the flow of traffic and truck losing power with no warning. Couldn't even turn hazard lights on or anything. 18 wheelers coming all around and we trying to navigate to safe spot on the shoulder when we was on the interstate. GMC need to get their stuff together, you are putting people lives is danger. GMC is feeling our anger right now. Who wants a new engine in a $90,000 top of the line truck

At approximately 2 years, 47,000 miles I received a message that I needed to service the transmission soon. I then got a message "Trailer Brakes Disabled Service Required" and another "Service Transmission Now Unable to Shift Soon". I brought the vehicle into my closest GM dealer and they said it is a faulty shift control lever. These are known to have a fault from the factory, but since I am outside of the 36,000 bumper to bumper, they will not cover the cost. It took about 2 months for the part to come in as it was on back order, and now they want $1000 to replace it.

I was driving north/east on [XXX] just outside of [XXX]. After accelerating to give another driver room to move out of his lane that was ending, I lost propulsion/power. The Sierra went into Neutral and told me something like "Press Start to resume". I had to immediately get off the interstate as I was rapidly losing speed. I was able to pull over to the shoulder of the interstate on the right, just before exit 2. After getting the vehicle parked, I was never able to restart the vehicle. The motor would not turn over. The display screens kept cycling between a blank display and a display that looked like the vehicle was on but the engine never turned on. When I tried to start the car, I got a message of "conditions not correct for shift". We could not even get the vehicle into Neutral. I used OnStar to get State Patrol to show up and put lights behind us for safety. OnStar should have a recording of this call. This was on Saturday XXX in the ballpark of 2:30 pm central time. I would imagine the officer also filed a report, but I did not get it. The vehicle was towed to Billion GMC in Iowa City. Billion GMC said their initial suspicion is the 6.2L motor failed / locked up on us as this is know issue that is subject of a class action lawsuit. While driving on a divided two lane state highway at approximately 60mph my vehicle suffered a catastrophic engine failure causing immediate loss of power in traffic at highway speeds. I had to negotiate highway traffic to steer the vehicle onto a narrow shoulder and continue under reduced power to a location where the vehicle could remain stopped safely. There were no warning signs and no warning lights prior to the issue. The vehicle was towed to Faulkner GMC where it was eventually inspected and determined to be an engine failure consistent with the open recall affecting GM 6.2 L87 V8 engines. A replacement engine was installed under warranty. Additionally, a defective tailgate switch was discovered and replaced. A prior unrelated incident had occurred where the tailgate switch activated on its own lowering my tailgate while the vehicle was in motion. The tailgate lowered onto the tongue jack of a trailer I was towing causing damage to the tailgate. This issue occurred multiple times throughout my ownership of the vehicle until the switch was replaced. GM acknowledged the switch was found to be defective but refused to take responsibility for the damage.

My vehicle has experienced repeated and unresolved electrical system failures and unexpected loss of power steering assist. The problem involves multiple warning lights, module communication faults, drivability issues, and simultaneous malfunctions affecting systems including power steering, traction control, transmission, four-wheel drive, and other electronic controls. Repair records, diagnostic information, and videos documenting the failures are available for inspection upon request. The most serious incident occurred on August 23, 2026, when the power steering failed unexpectedly while I was driving. The sudden loss of steering assist made the vehicle difficult to control and nearly resulted in a collision with an oncoming vehicle. The failure created a significant safety risk because it impaired my ability to safely steer and control the vehicle. The condition has occurred multiple times over several months and has resulted in repeated dealership visits. Repairs have included replacement an HVAC controller, but the failures have continued. The vehicle has been inspected multiple times by an authorized dealer, and the manufacturer has been notified through an open support case. As of the most recent repair visit, no confirmed root cause or permanent repair had been identified, and the dealership was still working with engineering support to diagnose the issue. Prior to and during these failures, numerous warning lamps and service messages appeared, including warnings related to power steering, traction control, transmission, four-wheel drive, trailer brake system, steering column lock, and tire monitoring systems. In some incidents, the vehicle entered reduced-performance mode. These warning messages first appeared in November 2025 and have continued intermittently despite multiple repair attempts. The recurring and unresolved loss of power steering assist while driving creates an ongoing risk of crash or injury.

My 2024 GMC Sierra Denali Ultimate 1500 experienced a catastrophic powertrain failure that created a serious safety hazard. On XXX, while driving at highway speeds, the truck unexpectedly shifted into neutral, causing an immediate loss of propulsion. During this event, the electrical system was also affected. The battery power dropped, power steering assistance was lost, and due to the electronic push-button start system, the vehicle could not be restarted while in this condition. This placed me and surrounding motorists at significant risk of a crash. I initially brought the vehicle to Point GMC, where I was advised no issue was found. After the problem continued, I returned on XXX and a dealership technician rode with me. During the test drive on [XXX], the truck again shifted into neutral, confirming the defect. The vehicle was then towed to the dealership, where diagnostics revealed DTC P0016. I was informed the engine had seized and required a complete engine replacement. The engine was replaced by an authorized GMC dealership in New Jersey. After only about 2,000 miles, the check engine light returned and the vehicle began experiencing additional electrical issues. This is a Denali Ultimate, the highest trim level, with advanced electronic systems, making these recurring failures especially concerning. To date, the vehicle has been inspected by three authorized GMC dealerships, and I have opened multiple cases with GMC Corporate. Despite repeated repair attempts, the manufacturer has not provided a permanent resolution. I continue to experience recurring engine and electrical issues and no longer have confidence in the safety or reliability of this vehicle. Given the repeated failures, loss of propulsion, loss of steering assistance, inability to restart the vehicle, and lack of resolution after multiple dealership visits and an engine replacement, I believe this matter warrants investigation by NHTSA. As I was driving down the road, I heard a loud explosion. I looked around, didn't see anything that could've hit the truck. I thought it was possibly a gunshot that went off. After driving for another 3 or 4 minutes, I heard glass going everywhere. It was the moonroof that exploded. Thankfully, the sunroof cover was in the closed position. Otherwise, glass would've been all over the interior of the vehicle. I called the dealership to report the incident and to see if this was something that could be covered under warranty. I'm still waiting for a call back. I then called my insurance company to report what happened. I was told to seek a repair shop and collect all receipts for the claim. No warning lights have appeared in the vehicle yet. Since we were driving home from a vacation, we stopped and got a roll of vinyl sticker to cover the outside from rain.

This could hit another vehicle if this happens, or god forbid a person who happens to be on a sidewalk. I looked into this and found that there is a recall for the same issue on 2022 models that has not been extended to the 2024 model (Recall N242490120). This recall should be extended to the 2024 models as this is a huge safety concern.

Was traveling home and started losing power going up a hill on XXX. The truck was surging, the check engine light came on and an audible warning of no (low?) oil pressure. The truck shut off on a busy interstate highway and barely got onto the shoulder. The tow truck driver had to lay on the ground with part of his body in the lane of travel to place "skids" under the rear tires because there is no way to place this vehicle in neutral for a tow without a special GM tool. When I contacted Harry Robinson GMC service center in [XXX], they told me that it was no longer a safety recall because the truck had passed diagnostics and new, high viscosity oil was put in the truck XXX. I am writing to express my significant concerns regarding the recurring issues with my 2024 Denali 6.2, which has been subject to multiple service visits since reaching 7,000 miles. Despite these visits, the underlying problem remains undiagnosed and reoccurs shortly after I retrieve the vehicle. Following the second oil change, the engine developed a persistent ticking noise. Over the past 13 month, I have invested over $200,000 with your dealership in the past 5 years!. My truck was recently held for two weeks for service. After I lodged a complaint, the General Manager suggested I seek service elsewhere. This recommendation was made after I responded to an email stating that, following the completion of repairs to the headliner, third brake light, and brakes/rotors, I would no longer be utilizing Crain's services. The headliner sustained water damage due to improper installation by your technician, and fingerprints were also evident. I firmly believe in transparent communication regarding service progress, which was notably absent in this instance. Both the General Manager and Service Manager deferred responsibility, instructing me to contact GM directly, only for GM to inform me that direct contact was inappropriate. This resulted in a continuous cycle of unaddressed concerns with the service manager. Currently, I am operating an $80,000 vehicle that has incurred damage from a technician and exhibits a ticking engine. Furthermore, the driver's side mirror, which was previously replaced due to shaking at highway speeds, is now exhibiting the same issue, despite a technician's assertion that this is normal. I also note that my brakes, with over 89% remaining, are beginning to squeak, which your team claims is normal. This assessment is difficult to accept.

On August 3, 2025 I was on the road enroute to my residence. With no warning my 2024 GMC Sierra 1500 SLT engine quit. We heard a popping sound and the entire vehicle shuddered. I took safe control of the vehicle. As I intervened I noticed that the dash warning lights were lit. Almost immediately the warning lights went off and the engine restarted on its own. We were startled and extremely concerned about what had just happened. This was the first problem we encountered with the truck. I contacted the DeLuz Chevy garage in Hilo for a follow-up appointment.

I purchased my 2024 GMC Sierra 1500 on July 4, 2024. Shortly after purchase, the vehicle began experiencing recurring electrical and electronic malfunctions affecting multiple safety and driver-assistance systems. These issues include power mirrors not consistently folding when the vehicle is locked, the digital speed (MPH) intermittently not displaying on the dashboard, driver seat memory not always setting upon entry, and blind spot warning indicators activating while driving when no vehicles or objects are present. More critically, the rear parking assist sensors do not function consistently and often fail to alert before contact with an object. I have backed into objects on multiple occasions before the sensors activated or without any warning, creating a safety risk while reversing. I first brought the vehicle to the dealership on January 13, 2025 for these issues, but they were not resolved. I purchased two GMC-branded trailer cameras in December 2024 that are advertised as compatible with this vehicle. On September 1, 2025, I returned to the dealership when the “invisible trailer” feature became inoperable. The trailer camera system frequently shows a black screen, cuts out intermittently, or fails to display an image. I returned again on September 11, 2025 due to continued failure of the invisible trailer feature and rear parking assist. The dealership kept my vehicle until December 2, 2025 (approximately one month), but the issues remain unresolved. I am scheduled to return again in January. These failures reduce rear visibility and compromise multiple safety systems. Despite repeated dealership repair attempts and extended service time, the problems persist, suggesting a defect involving the vehicle’s electrical system, sensors, software, or camera modules. I have photo and video documentation of these failures.

My issue is with my back up camera being useless in low lighting and dark situations. I live in a dark community sometimes and I cannot use my back up camera to get me down my driveway without opening both front windows. I had a 2016 GMC Sierra and I had no problem with it. I first brought it into the shop with this issue and they replaced the camera and that did nothing. The 2nd time I brought it in for the camera issue, they said it is a software issue and they are waiting for a fix. (That was back in June) I called GMC Customer care and opened a case, but that is falling on deaf ears as they are saying there is nothing they can do. They tell me to keep waiting on the dealership for the fix. My Daughter, son and friends are having the same issue, but they are adding additional lights.

On two separate and distinct instances, the truck suffered a complete loss of power steering while driving on the highway. In both instances, the issue persisted until I turned the vehicle off. Numerous warning indicators were illuminated on the dashboard (Service Power Steering, Drive with Care, Service ESC, etc). A loss of power steering is a significant safety defect, and it was hard to steer the truck at lower speeds. Currently, the vehicle is still being diagnosed by the dealership and General Motors for the current yet similar issue. Lane departure warning inconsistently working (beeping) Radio quits playing for several seconds and screen goes dark Blinker stops blinking and then re-starts 6.2L engine slow/rough idle continuously hunting for stable speed (This is the only problem that is NOT intermittent). At times almost dies. A/C unit stuck on "hot" delivering 92 degree air when outside 72 degrees. Temp set at Low. (No A/C just trying to get fresh outside air in). Vehicle was under recall and control modules "reflashed" before purchased (new). Dealer reflashed which did not solve problems. Dealer cannot duplicate (but they only spend a little time looking at the issue). Has been in shop off/on for about 2 weeks attempting to resolve. Issues on occasion still occuring since Mid October 2024 purchase.

Purchased 2024 GMC Sierra 1500 Pro 2/28/2024 with 6 miles on it. Drove vehicle home (20 miles). Picked up and dropped off Grand Daughter from school. Proceeded to my Mom's house and took her for a ride then came home. Next afternoon went to take out garbage and noticed puddle by passenger rear tire. Got under truck and found shock to be completely wet. Called Dealer and made appointment to bring truck in next morning. Brought truck in next day and Dealer confirmed that shock was blown. Shock is not in stock but was ordered. Currently waiting for delivery to set up appointment to replace shock (Only the one that is blown of course). Truck now has 108 miles. 60 of those miles are driving from, back to and back home from the dealer. Now it sits with cardboard under it and once repaired, I have the bonus of scrubbing multiple oil slicks off of my driveway. Glad I wasn't towing or carrying a payload...

I purchased a 2024 GMC SIERRA 1500 Denali Crew Cab Diesel 3.0L After several times bringing the truck to the dealership I purchased from and conduct all service related work. They finally found a crack/whole in the sidewall that was not done by any road hazard to cause damage but looks like a manufacturer defect. This is now not only prominent on one tire but two of the tires. The area is on the covex area of the tire. BRIDGESTONE ALENZA A/S 02 Size 275/50/R22 This is a huge safety concern as a blowout at 65MPH could cause significant harm to not only people in my vehicle but to others. This is an advisement to get the right attention on this before something catastrophic or deadly. With plenty of tread on the tires (6/32), which equated to 50% life on the tire. The dealership is trying to make me pay for a manufacturer defect of $600+ for the two tires.

The amber light for being to close to another vehicle in front of you does not come on in the dash in my case less than half a truck length ahead. It does not have any sensors on front or rear because Dealer said it was because of lack of chips. There must be someway to adjust this for further notification then a half a truck length.
