2008 Honda Ridgeline
Recalls and owner complaints reported to NHTSA
Compared with the typical (middle) count of 140 complaints across the 6 model-year 2008 midsize trucks we cover. Best-selling trucks naturally collect more complaints because more of them are on the road.
Price & value
We don't guess at prices. Get a real value for the exact truck from Kelley Blue Book, then see how the asking price compares.
Is it a good deal?
- Look up the truck on Kelley Blue Book. Choose its cab, trim, options, miles, condition and your ZIP code, and note the private party value (or the fair purchase price if you're buying from a dealer).
- Enter that value and the asking price below.
Enter both numbers to see the deal rating.
The rating only compares the two numbers you enter: within 5% of the value is a good deal, 5–15% under is a great deal, and more than 15% under is a buy-it-now price. Know Your Truck isn't affiliated with Kelley Blue Book. Rust, accident history, lifts and mods, and service records all change what a truck is worth, so always get a pre-purchase inspection.
Owner's manual
Get the free official owner's manual from Honda's owner's guides page. Choose 2008 Ridgeline. It covers maintenance schedules, fluids, towing limits and warning lights. Older years may not be listed online.
Recalls
A recall doesn't mean a truck still has the problem. Enter the truck's VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls or ask a dealer to see whether the repair was done.

Risk: A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source can increase the risk of a fire.
Fix: Dealers will inspect and repair the rear frame, as necessary, free of charge. Depending on the extent of any corrosion damage, Honda may offer to repurchase the vehicle. My 2008 Honda RIdgeline has a frame rusted to the point where it has been deemed unsafe to drive by my local Honda dealership and Honda USA. My 2008 Honda Ridgeline is PA titled and was involved in recall 22V-430 (NHTSA recall number) / 22-021 (Honda recall number). I took my truck into Wright Honda (Uniontown, PA) on June 2nd, 2023 for the 2006-2014 Ridgeline Rear Frame Repair Safety Recall. The truck is available for inspection, and Honda USA has several pictures of the frame problems that they evaluated. When Wright Honda performed the recall work, they informed me that the frame rust is so severe that it is not safe to drive and it will not pass inspection; they recommended that I tow it home (at my expense, which is what I had to do). I asked them if my truck might be considered for a buyback. They told me that Honda USA did request more pictures and that someone from Honda USA would be in touch with me. Basically, after speaking to a case manager and supervisor, Honda USA told me that the frame corrosion is my responsibility because they performed their recall. The Honda USA technician Eric (4605592) agreed that the frame rust is so bad that is should not be driven on a road. So although multiple parties at Honda agree that my frame rust is so severe that I can no longer drive the truck, and there is a recall regarding frame rust on my Ridgeline, Honda refuses to take responsibility and either replace the frame or buy it back. The recall was to prevent the gas tank from falling off and catching fire. I think it is equally important for Honda to take care of frames that may break while driving, killing everyone in the truck, when it is known that the frame corrosion is already a problem because of a Honda quality control issue.

OVER THE COURSE OF 2 WEEKS WE WOULD TURN THE DIAL FOR THE HEAT AND IT WOULD KICK IN AND BLOW WARM AIR AND THEN IT WOULD STOP. WE TOOK IT TO INVER GROVE HONDA TO GET IT FIXED AND THEY REPLACED THE BLOWER. IT ACTUALLY WORKED FOR ABOUT A WEEK, THEN STOPPED AGAIN ...COMPLETELY... ON A DAY THAT IT WAS -20 DEGREES WITH WIND CHILL. THEY NOW HAVE TOLD US THAT THE WIRING FOR THAT UNIT IS MELTED AND THE ENTIRE WIRE HARNESS NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THIS IS RUNNING US AROUND $1800. THE MECHANIC TOLD MY HUSBAND THIS ISN'T THE FIRST TIME HE'S SEEN THIS. WE THEN RESEARCHED FURTHER TO FIND THE PROBLEM ALL OVER THE INTERNET. SEE HERE: HTTP://WWW.RIDGELINEOWNERSCLUB.COM/FORUMS/SHOWTHREAD.PHP?P=418168 I CALLED HONDA FOR AN EXPLANATION, GUARANTEE THAT THIS WON'T HAPPEN AGAIN OR FURTHER START MY VEHICLE ON FIRE. AFTER ALL, HOW DOES A WIRE MELT? IT MUST GET HOT... THEREFORE THIS IS A CONCERN TO ME WITH CHILDREN IN MY VEHICLE A LARGE PERCENTAGE OF THE TIME. THEY SAID THEY CAN NOT GUARANTEE THIS WON'T HAPPEN AGAIN AND DUE TO THE MILEAGE THEY CAN'T FINANCIALLY HELP FUND THE REPAIR. THEY HAVE NO EXPLANATION AS TO HOW THIS HAPPENED. The Honda Dealership on 9/03/2026 executed a federal safety recall negligently and punctured my gas tank, creating an immediate fire hazard. The dealership performed the safety recall on 09/03/2026. I went to get my receipt from the lady at the front desk and she handed it to me, no one mentioned anything about what was done to the truck. As soon as I got into the vehicle the tighten gas cap showed in the dash, it has never said that before this day and time. I called a mechanic and asked him as to what it meant and he said its okay, my vehicle is doing the same thing. So i drove it 30 plus miles back home. Last night i went to the gas pumps to get gasoline and it poured out into the parking lot, and all over the place. I am filing this complaint regarding our 2008 Honda Ridgeline, VIN [XXX], approximately 129,000 miles, concerning NHTSA Recall 22V-430 / Honda Campaign LCD. The vehicle has spent its life in [XXX], and Honda's VIN lookup showed this recall OPEN/INCOMPLETE. We experienced fuel leaking while fueling, and a piece of severely corroded metal associated with supporting/securing the fuel tank fell from the vehicle. An independent mechanic found extensive rear frame corrosion at the fuel-tank mounting area and stated there was no longer sufficient structure to properly secure the tank. The mechanic also observed the inadequately supported fuel tank rubbing/contacting the driveshaft and advised us of the Honda recall. Due to these safety conditions, we did not drive it further. It was towed to [XXX]'s Friendly Honda, [XXX], for the open recall. On XXX, the dealer called after inspection and stated it submitted photographs to Honda/American Honda. We were informed the vehicle FAILED the safety recall inspection, could not be repaired under the recall, and Honda would have to buy it back. Honda has not provided a written repurchase offer or valuation methodology. We are filing this so NHTSA has a record of an actual failure associated with Recall 22V-430: severe frame corrosion/perforation, loss of fuel-tank support, tank/driveshaft contact, and fuel leakage. We request NHTSA document this incident and Honda's repurchase handling. We have photographs, recall records, mechanic/dealer information, towing records and the recorded call available. I delivered my vehicle to a Honda dealership in July 2025. They inspected the vehicle and agreed to replace the fuel tank. Since then, I have been receiving notifications that the fuel tank is back ordered with no ETA. I am continuing to pay insurance registration for this vehicle and I’m unable to use it. I would suggest that at this point Honda needs to buy it back.
