2022–2026 GMC Hummer EV Pickup common problems and fixes

Certain 2022–2023 trucks were recalled because water can get into the high-voltage battery pack (the fix is a new pack); on owner forums, roof panel leaks on early trucks and 12-volt battery faults come up most.

What owners should know

Covers 2022–2026 · Electric (two or three motors) · Updated 2026-10-06

The Hummer EV Pickup is a large electric pickup with two or three motors, removable roof panels, four-wheel steering and a big Ultium battery pack.

We counted only 14 owner complaints filed with NHTSA for 2022–2026 Hummer EV pickups (retrieved October 5, 2026; each complaint counted once), far too few to show a pattern, partly because few were sold. Starting with 2024, NHTSA files some Hummer EV records under a plain "Hummer EV" name that also covers the Hummer EV SUV, so we checked every complaint's VIN: all 14 belong to Hummer EV Pickups, and none had to be left out. Recall lists under that plain name can still include SUV-only recalls. Complaint counts show what owners report most often, not how many trucks have a problem.

At a glance

  • Certain 2022–2023 trucks were recalled because water can get into the high-voltage battery pack; the fix is a new pack. Until then, avoid water more than 24 inches deep.
  • Too few complaints for a pattern; owners mention water leaks, 12-volt battery faults and software resets.

Recalls to check

  • High-voltage battery pack that may let water in on certain 2022–2023 trucks (22V771000): the dealer replaces the pack
  • High-voltage battery connections or parts on certain 2022 trucks (23V367000, 26V494000)
  • Front seat belt buckle bolts that may be loose on certain 2023–2024 trucks (23V786000)
  • Passenger air bag wire that may be crimped incorrectly on certain 2026 trucks (25V769000)
  • Taillight software on certain 2022 trucks (22V141000)

  • Water leaks from the removable roof panels

    Dealer job

Signs: Water dripping at the roof seams or windshield pillars, or wet headliner and carpets.

Fix: Have a GMC dealer find where the water is coming in (roof panel seals, seams or drains). On HummerChat, owners report redesigned roof support bars and seals fixing the leaks.

  • 12-volt battery faults

    Dealer job

Signs: 12-volt battery warnings, a truck that won't power on, or screens and systems acting up.

Fix: Have the 12-volt battery tested and the fault codes read, and make sure software updates are installed. Owners on forums report updates fixed modules that didn't shut down and drained the 12-volt battery on early trucks.
