Recalls and owner complaints reported to NHTSA
Price & value
We don't guess at prices. Get a real value for the exact truck from Kelley Blue Book, then see how the asking price compares.
Is it a good deal?
- Look up the truck on Kelley Blue Book. Choose its cab, trim, options, miles, condition and your ZIP code, and note the private party value (or the fair purchase price if you're buying from a dealer).
- Enter that value and the asking price below.
Enter both numbers to see the deal rating.
The rating only compares the two numbers you enter: within 5% of the value is a good deal, 5–15% under is a great deal, and more than 15% under is a buy-it-now price. Know Your Truck isn't affiliated with Kelley Blue Book. Rust, accident history, lifts and mods, and service records all change what a truck is worth, so always get a pre-purchase inspection.
Owner's manual
Get the free official owner's manual from Ford's owner manual library. Choose 2023 Maverick. It covers maintenance schedules, fluids, towing limits and warning lights. Older years may not be listed online.

Truck started to shake when accelerating past 50 mph. The shaking would stop once the speed limit was reached and you let off the accelerator. Web search results showed 2022, 2023 & 2024 Ford Maverick hybrids are known for CV axle failures with those symptoms. Vehicle was around 48,000 miles. Dealership replaced both CV axles under the 5 year/60,000 mile warranty.
- Filed Aug 2026
At around 27K miles the two front CV axles began to fail. I brought it to the Ford dealership and they confirmed that both needed to be replaced. It was a $1600 repair. There have been a lot of complaints from Ford Maverick owners who have had CV axle failures at very low miles on their vehicles. These parts typically last 100K to 150K miles and it's not unusual for them to last the lifetime of the vehicle. There is no reason both front CV axles should be failing with 27K miles on a vehicle. This should be covered by a recall.

12 volt electrical system no power. Dealer changed battery cable wiring harness. Received vehicle back. One week later vehicle exhibited no 12 volt power. Informed that it could be the Thinkware dash cam. Which was purchased from Ford and Ford dealer installed. Now informed that it could be the dash cam itself. The dash cam was installed via the OBD port which is always powered. This will drain the 12 volt battery unless vehicle is driven for extended periods. Ford is aware of the issue but no remedy for over 3 weeks. I have told the Ford dealer to have the dash cam installed so that when the ignition is on the dash cam is also powered on and off when the ignition switch is turned off. Using this method negates the parking mode on the dash cam. Another issue is when the drivers side door is opened the interior lights do not activate. Ford notified. Problem not resolved. Low 12 volt battery issue?

12-Volt battery gets extremely hot and gives off invisible fumes. Model number is BAGM-H14. Vehicle was towed to dealership for diagnostic evaluation. Also, dashboard shows various warning messages. Battery could not be charged, plus does not maintain charge.

Receiving daily Battery Saver Mode notices telling me some remote features including lock/unlock may temporarily be unavailable. Not to use my AC and go for longer rides, which I have done with no change. My interior lights are not coming on. My radio powers off and on while driving. Constant clicking and noises come from the vehicle when turned off. Difficulties starting the vehicle at times. Feel power losses when driving and accelerating, feel like I could be rear ended when this happens. In doing some online research, I am clearly not alone in this issue, when I contacted Ford and the dealership they both acted as if this is not a current issue and I would have to it inspected by a Ford dealership with no guarantee that the inspection would be covered. I found a recall 24S24 that sounds like my exact issue, yet they say it's not been authorized for my vehicle.

Eninge started knocking, flashed warnings to pull over immediately. I did and had the vehicle towed to Westway Ford in Irving. Their investigation showed the engine needs a full rebuild and they are claiming it is not covered under warranty. They shared pictures & a written repair estimate. Doing an analysis of the pictures they took and their description of what happened, combined with what I experienced and observed, this appears to be a textbook case of the behavior and outcome of the mechanical failure described in recall 23S27.

During acceleration from 40-60 miles per hour, there was a pronounced vibration/shudder through the front end of the vehicle. After taking it to the dealership, they advised both front axles would need to be replaced. The catastrophic failure of an axle is likely to cause a car crash. The problem has been identified by Ford Motor Company and also confirmed by the Ford Dealership where I got it fixed. Ford Motor Company issued Customer Satisfaction Program 25N09 On September 17, 2025. My vehicle is a 2023 model year, but produced at the same plant and in the same time frame as the the ones mentioned in 25N09. There were no warning lamps or messages about the problem. The only indication was the heavy vibration a few thousand miles prior to getting it looked at.

The dealer declined to provide a free diagnostic test. The contact referenced the notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V380000 (Engine); however, the VIN was not associated. It is very dangerous and again this is the same issue as the recall for my 2023 that is for other 2023 vehicles. I have called Ford to get help and file a complaint but am getting zero help. Again this is a very dangerous event that is happening and could cause damage not only to my vehicle but to others. I have to work so driving the vehicle is my only option right now and I can't afford the 9,000 to fix something that is a Ford issue. Please review and have Ford pay for the safety issue they already know they have. Thanks

The Ford Maverick has a known issue with "grabby brakes." I recently took my vehicle in for service and was advised the vehicle had an outstanding service bulletin to solve this problem. The repair given by Ford is ineffectual. There is a potential problems, even at low speeds, for sudden braking and collisions. This is ongoing at every stop and experienced by other Maverick owners.

The contact attempted to depress the brake pedal; however, the brakes failed to stop the vehicle. The contact shifted into neutral and coasted to a patch of grass where the vehicle came to a stop. The vehicle was turned off and after a while and shifted into park and restarted. The contact stated that several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The contact turned off and restarted the vehicle and became aware that the lights were no longer illuminated and continued driving. The dealer was contacted, and it was confirmed there were no recalls on the VIN. The contact stated that approximately 3 months after the first failure, the failure reoccurred while driving approximately 45 MPH, causing the contact to coast onto the off-ramp and a curb while in neutral to stop the vehicle. Several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The contact was able to restart and drive the vehicle to the dealer with the hazard lights activated. The dealer was unable to diagnose the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and opened a case. The failure mileage was approximately 18,000.

I had been driving for 2 hours on the interstate when the truck starts losing power and warning lights start flashing. I got the truck to the shoulder before it slammed to a stop. I turned the engine off and waited until all the power turned off before restarting. The truck would only run in limp mode at 35 mph. I drove on the shoulder of the interstate to the next exit. I disconnected the battery and reconnected which allowed me to drive it normally to the dealership. After two days the dealer called to say they didn’t see any codes and there wasn’t anything wrong with it even after I sent pictures of the warning messages. This is the 5th time this has happened under similar circumstances.

I took my vehicle in to have the transmission looked at. The dealership told me that the problem was resolved. While driving down the road the transmission went into park in the middle of a two lane road. When the vehicle came to a complete stop I was stopped in the middle of the lane and the vehicle transmission would not shift out of park. After getting it to another shop where it is currently located I was informed that the transmission needs to be replaced and that this is a problem that they are seeing in several Ford vehicles. I contacted Ford who stated that there are no current recalls for this problem. Obvious safety concerns are not being able to control the vehicle when it shifts to park while driving as well as being stopped in the middle of the roadway where a collision is likely.

The three warnings were Pre-Collision Assist Not Available, Service Engine Soon Warning, and Powertrain Malfunction / Reduced Power. The accelerator pedal did not work but I was able to coast to the nearest exit. I stopped, turned the vehicle off and back on a few times but the warning lights would come back on. When I shifted the transmission into Drive the vehicle would take off on its own. I drove the remaining 30 miles just letting the vehicle accelerate on its own because the pedal did not work. While driving on the highway at normal speed in normal conditions, I suddenly lost ABS, traction control, downhill assist, hold assist, AdvanceTrac, Cruise control, and a severe reduction of power. The engine went into limp mode and would not rev past 3k RPM. This made driving on the highway very dangerous as I could not keep up speed and risked getting rear-ended. The wrench icon came on, as well as ABS and traction control. Cruise control would not work. Messages appeared stating "Service engine soon", "Service AdvanceTrac", "Downhill assist issue", "Hold assist issue", and a few more I can't recall. Two problems 1. Auto Start/Stop feature 2. Pre-Collision Assist (1) Auto Start/Stop feature- unpredictable.. 1. My engine turns off at busy intersection for red light with a vehicle coming in fast from behind, I hit gas to move forward . My truck revs hard from starting with foot on gas and darts forward. Almost went into cross traffic. 2. There is a current recall on Maverick batteries. Numerous complaints on the Facebook Ford Maverick of vehicle shutting off for auto-stop, but not starting in traffic conditions due to the battery. Fact - any electrical or computer problem and your vehicle is now stranded in an intersection. The Maverick has several electrical recalls. 3. I have timed my Vehicle Restart response on camera. It takes approx 1 more second for my vehicle engine to re-start and advance forward. For many accidents 1 second is the difference of life and death. 4. When I stop to put the vehicle in reverse, it will auto-stop while I am shifting. My vehicle is now sitting in the road, until I hit reverse and no brake, then "jumps" backwards in reverse. 5. The feature cannot be turned off permanently- it must be turned off manually for every trip. Summary - I have sent these concerns to Ford. They will not provide a way to turn off this feature. Only option is to pay a mechanic to disable it with an aftermarket product, which could of course, damage something else. (2) Front Collision Warning System - Has gone off three times for no valid reason. One time simply passing an oncoming vehicle 2 times passing police vehicles on the side of the road with flashing lights. I have lowered it's alert level to low and seems to help. But clearly, Emergency lights setting off a system that takes some control of stirring and braking is a concern.

At approximately 37,000 miles, the CV axles on my 2023 Ford Maverick Hybrid required replacement due to premature wear. Now, at around 62,200 miles, the vehicle is experiencing excessive vibration and shaking during acceleration, particularly noticeable at moderate to high speeds. This issue appears to be related to the powertrain or suspension system and may indicate a recurring or unresolved problem with the CV axles or associated components. The vibrations are severe enough to affect vehicle control, especially during lane changes or merging onto highways. When accelerating to merge into highway traffic, the vehicle shakes and vibrates so profusely that it feels like the car is going to shake apart. This makes it difficult to accelerate normally and safely, putting both the driver and surrounding vehicles at risk. The shaking could lead to loss of traction or steering instability, increasing the likelihood of an accident. This issue has been widely reported by other Ford Maverick owners and has been a frequently discussed problem in forums and owner communities for over a year. Despite its prevalence, there appears to be no long-term fix other than replacing the CV axle assembly with the same OEM part, which may be the root cause of the problem. That is why I feel it is important to bring this to your attention — it is a known issue with no real correction, and it continues to affect vehicle safety. No warning lights or messages appeared prior to the onset of the problem. The component is available for inspection upon request.

On acceleration from a stand still or in motion, the vehicle will start to shake/wobble pretty violently. It will go away when letting go of the gas. Seems to be coming from the front end wheels. Going under the car and checking all connecting points, the CV axle has a lot of play. You can move it around.

I was feeling a shaking throughout while driving. I took it into the dealership to have it looked at as it is a fairly new vehicle with less than 25k miles on it. They informed me that both of the CV Axles had gone out and were replaced. I was so shocked as those are supposed to last a fairly long time on a vehicle. I researched and it appears several Maverick owners have experienced the same thing, with some stating they be gone out twice before 34k miles and some as early as 10k miles. When I asked if it was a good thing I brought it in, the advisor told me absolutely it was as it is a huge safety issue if left unfixed. There were no warning lights for it nor any recall for it. I most certainly believe there needs to be something done about this.

On [XXX], I was involved in a backing accident that was significantly caused by the subject of this recall (Manufacturer Recall Number24S59, NHTSA Recall Number24V684). When I put my vehicle in reverse, the rear view camera came on. However, what I didn't realize was that the image displayed on it froze shortly after the camera turned on making it appear that it was clear behind me and safe to back. But another vehicle had pulled off of the street and stopped right behind me immediately after I put it in reverse and was looking at the frozen image that it was clear and safe to back. The car behind me was shorter than my vehicle and had pulled in behind me in the drive-thru line at somewhat of an angle, so only the front of their vehicle was directly behind me and the rest of out of view of my rear view mirror. I was trying to back, because the drive-thru was two lanes and the right lane I was in was backed up due to a delay and an employee was waving me to come to the left lane since it was open and available. Because the other customer had just pulled in behind my vehicle from the street while my rear view camera was displaying a frozen image of when it was clear behind my vehicle, when I backed slowly, my rear bumper cracked the other car's front bumper. Because of Ford's safety issue, I have incurred an expensive liability claim for damages to the other party's vehicle. Recall 24S51 from Ford says that 87,000 Maverick trucks have had the wiper motor fail due to moisture getting into the housing due to a sealant problem with the supplier. The recalled VINs can have a free inspection and replacement. I believe my VIN is also impacted by this problem because 37 months and 31,000 miles into my car, my wipers failed. I was driving in light rain and the wipers would only go up about 6" from their resting position before returning to the resting position, then repeat the same thing. Thankfully the rain wasn't so heavy that I had to stop and could continue driving home (very carefully!). We've had a very dry winter, so I haven't used my wipers in months. The prior week before the failure, we had a big snow/rain storm spanning two days with about 1.5" of moisture coming down. Hence, I think this storm precipitated, literally, my issue. I took my Maverick to the Ford dealership for a hitch recall, asking about this wiper motor recall problem at the same time. I picked up my truck today and after it's been sitting in the sun, my wipers work again. It sure seems that when moisture is getting into the housing, the wipers fail, then the sun dries it out, then the wipers work. Note, my truck is not garaged. I believe my VIN should be part of the 24S51 or 24-594 recall. Since in my almost 60 years of driving, I've never had a failure of a windshield wiper motor in this way, it seems to be a very rare thing to occur. With a recall of this part in other Mavericks similar to mine, I think mine is actually affected as well.

Vehicle "shakes and vibrates" when accelerating along with odd clicking noises when turning. The sunroof also leaks during car washes.

I had the recall work done for the back up camera that freezes while I am reversing. After the recall has been completed, it still freezes/glitches while I'm backing up. Nothing changed after they performed the recall work. I do believe that the technician performed the work he was told to, but it hasn't accomplished anything. The rear view camera still takes a few seconds to engage once I put the car in reverse, and while I am in reverse, actively backing up the car, the camera feed freezes repeatedly on-screen.

When having the vehicle in reverse, the rear-camera’s image oftentimes freezes for several moments which causes unreal expectations of what is actually in the rear and how close objects actually are. This has caused fear to my wife, and she prefers not to drive the vehicle in part due to this unresolved issue.

This vehicle has chronic clicking when turning , when taken to a mechnanic i was informed the CV Axles both were torn and that it was a common issue for the 22 ford mavericks and they issue replacements for free. However when it comes to this they don’t cover it. The issue is still present and left untreated could be a dangerous issue.

On acceleration from a stand still or in motion, the vehicle will start to shake/wobble pretty violently. It will go away when letting go of the gas. Seems to be coming from the front end wheels. Going under the car and checking all connecting points, the CV axle has a lot of play. You can move it around.

Started to develop a rumble/stumble upon acceleration. It seems to be getting worse. Finally took it in the dealer. The dealer confirmed that it is the CV axles. They need replacing. Dealer said no parts in stock and not sure when they will arrive. WTH. I asked about driving and they said keep on motoring. What. How can this be good for all the other connected parts! It shutters so bad I am not confident it will not cause me to have an accident. This is a major issue with the drive-line components. Ford needs to issue a recall and redesign this part or I will be replacing these again at my cost. I only have 39k milage

Dealership confirms CV joints on my new 2023 Maverick are spewing out grease with violent vibration while driving. Was able to safely pull over before vibration became worse. No prior warning prior to or during axle failure. Vehicle is still at the dealership awaiting parts that are apparently on backlog. Upon further research I found that I am one of many Maverick owners experiencing premature failure of CV joints.

The truck was being towed behind a motor home, while making a normal left turn from a complete stop the truck began swing wildly from side to side (death wobble). After stopping I found a dash warning "Steering Assist Fault, Service Required" and "Drive Mode Not Available". At that time the truck steering was very difficult to turn, the truck was not drivable. This is the second time this has happened. In June 2024 the exact same thing happened. Ford replaced the steering assembly (twice, the first part was defective) under warranty. I believe this to be a safety hazard. I tow the truck behind the motor home in order to have reliable transportation when I arrive to a destination and also to provide a safe way to get help if some incident occurs while on the road (motor home break down) or for an emergency at the destination. Both steering assist incidents occurred when I was in a remote area with no cell service or internet service. Had there been any kind of medical emergency it could have had unwelcome results.

Both the Blind Spot and Cross Traffic warning systems work erratically or not at all. Even after software update and reset. Cross traffic will sense a small car then ignore the bus next? Same with Blind Spot very inconsistent or not functional! Dealer is less than helpful. Any trip to the dealer means leaving your vehicle with them all day so they can put off working on it until the last minute.

Vehicle was travelling on freeway at freeway speeds suddenly without notable cause the vehicle electrical stopped, giving multiple warning in succession, cutting speed rapidly to 35 mph, with no acceleration pedal response and an automatic speed of 35 on battery power with the ability to break, but with no control of speed and only regulated by break pedal. Pulled vehicle to side of road and put in park, parking break automatically engaged. Vehicle had alarms on all automatic systems being off. Turning vehicle on and off did not effect response. After checking engine visually, was able to turn vehicle on with no alarms or issues. This has happened in both my Mavericks and almost led to a fatal collision in the 2022 Maverick.

[XXX] car malfunctioned. First said that the gear was working incorrectly, then accelerator stopped working and Drive light on gear shifter started blinking. I pulled over to the shoulder and the brakes continued to work, and all the messages in my video came up. I started on cruise control going 78 then once I got to [XXX] my parking break came on. Once stopped I tried to go back into drive, which didn't work. The car would not go forward, almost as if it was attached to something. I turned the car on and off several times trying to get the parking break off. After I believe the third time I turned off the car, I left it off for about a full minute before turning it back on. The lights on the car went off except the check engine light, and the emergency brake light, though it finally let me turn the break off and switch into drive. I drove the last 4 minutes home without incident. This links to a video I took after I got onto the side of the highway showing what was happening on my display. Upon further investigation, I discovered that when pressure is applied to the seat, a bigger crack appears where a cross member is joined under the seat. This is causing the seat to flex more than usual putting more friction on the plastic mounts causing the squeaking sound.

When mine collapsed, the headrest came out most of the way, and I slid backwards, hitting the top, back of my head on the rear seat just below the head rest, breaking the skin and leaving a mark of blood visible in the photos.
