2019 Ram 1500 Classic
Recalls and owner complaints reported to NHTSA
About NHTSA's data for this year: NHTSA files Ram 1500 Classic recalls and complaints together with the newer Ram 1500. We've sorted them using each complaint's VIN and each recall's description, but some recalls may only be listed on the Ram 1500 pages. Check a specific truck's VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Price & value
We don't guess at prices. Get a real value for the exact truck from Kelley Blue Book, then see how the asking price compares.
Is it a good deal?
- Look up the truck on Kelley Blue Book. Choose its cab, trim, options, miles, condition and your ZIP code, and note the private party value (or the fair purchase price if you're buying from a dealer).
- Enter that value and the asking price below.
Enter both numbers to see the deal rating.
The rating only compares the two numbers you enter: within 5% of the value is a good deal, 5–15% under is a great deal, and more than 15% under is a buy-it-now price. Know Your Truck isn't affiliated with Kelley Blue Book. Rust, accident history, lifts and mods, and service records all change what a truck is worth, so always get a pre-purchase inspection.
Owner's manual
Get the free official owner's manual from Mopar's owner manual library. Choose 2019 1500 Classic. It covers maintenance schedules, fluids, towing limits and warning lights. Older years may not be listed online.
Recalls
A recall doesn't mean a truck still has the problem. Enter the truck's VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls or ask a dealer to see whether the repair was done.

This is a 2019 Ram 1500 Classic 4x4 with a hemi engine. the power steering suddenly and with no warning stopped working when my wife was on a winding country road. There was no warning lights on the dash at all. She was unable to turn the steering wheel because the power assist stopped working. This caused her to go into the ditch, where she called me to come help her out of the ditch. I had a very hard time steering it home. We took it to the Ram dealership we bought it from, after we thought we found a recall on it. The Dealership ran our vin, and our truck was not on the recall? But the recall said 2019 Ram 1500? This could have killed someone!!! The Dealership, Parkway Chrysler Doge, Jeep, Ram in Dover Ohio was the dealership we took it to. They informed us, that the steering was shot, and it would take three months to get the steering rack, because of so many steering issues on these trucks. Why have you not stepped in to get this situation corrected?

The contact owns a 2019 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the power steering became inoperable. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the steering wheel seized and became difficult to turn. The contact stated that after the failure, the electronic power steering warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed, and determined that the steering rack and pinion had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 152,000.

While driving, the steering gets really tight, feeling like the power steering is going to fail. Sometimes it is much worse than others. It is intermittent. No warning lights and no messages at all. We called V & H for service, they'd fix it but wouldn't look into the recall for other 2019 1500 Ram trucks. Our vehicle does not have the recall, but we would like to see about expanding the recall for us to be included or even have Chrysler help with the cost of the repair since it was a known issue with the 2019 1500 Ram trucks.

The vehicle loses power unexpectedly without triggering a MIF indicator or logging a OBDII diagnostic code. The problem is the crankshaft position sensor temporarily fails causing the vehicle to stall, in my case, in stop and go traffic, which caused an accident. Once the 'Heat Soak' effect passes, the vehicle start and drives normally again. The fix, to preventing it from happening again and solving the heat soak problem, is to replace the crankshaft position sensor with an OEM part which is less susceptible to the ambient heat (heat soak) due the proximity to the exhaust manifold. And, to have the software in the PCM 'Flashed' or upgraded to allow for a greater signal tolerance from the crankshaft position sensor. The problem and fix where confirmed by Auto-Nation Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM, [XXX], where I purchased the OEM part and had their service department 'Flash' the PCM for the software upgrade. The service department and the parts clerk agreed that TSB 18-020-26 applied, dated XXX. Upon further research I discovered a recall report: 18v-049 Part 573 Safety recall report. It is proof FCA US LLC (Manufacturer of my 2019 Dodge RAM 1500 Classic) knew about the problem with the Pentastar 3.6L engine. The same 3.6L engine in the recall. Or, they should have know about the potential problem. Although my vehicle was not part of the 18v-049 recall, it has the same 3.6L engine and exhibited the same engineering shortcomings as the recalled engine? As a concerned citizen I felt compelled to bring the public safety problem to your attention, even though I feel I am not the only one who has complained about the problem. And, because I feel strongly about this, I am planning to file suite in small claim court against the manufacture: FCA US LLC. I would like to update your office with a copy of the filing as soon as I am issued a court date. Thank you for your time and consideration. Last week we were driving on a the main road toward our house going 30 miles per hour and coming up to a right turn then the truck stopped abruptly and died. Today after getting ready to enter [XXX] going 55 miles per hour the truck showed a check engine light and the truck started to power down mid highway entrance and I had to try and pull off before it powered down completely. It took 5 minutes this time for the truck regain power enough to be restart fully. The check engine light is still on. It endangered both me and everyone behind me because I abruptly slowed down and risked not having anywhere to pull over on a highway. Every time it has failed I have been in the middle of a road, lane, highway/freeway. With no way to signal my truck has died and no way to move it. Police have not investigated this issue, no dealerships or shops have looked at this issue currently. The engine, powertrain, brakes, and electrical appear to be not functioning properly in these incidents but it is unknown of the root cause. There has been no other indication that this truck has had these issues or previous recalls for these incidents. This truck was bought from a dealership earlier this year without issue. On March, while I was leaving to take my children to school, I discovered a loud, heavy metallic knocking sound coming from the engine of my 2019 Ram 1500 Classic. As I depressed the gas pedal, the knocking frequency increased immediately with the engine RPMs. Prior to this total failure, I had noticed the truck feeling hesitant and "stuttering" when I was trying to accelerate from red lights in the days leading up to the incident. Because I was concerned the engine would stall or fail completely while my children were in the vehicle, I immediately stopped driving it. A subsequent inspection at Don White’s CDJR confirmed DTC P051B-00 (Crankcase Pressure Sensor Performance). This fault is a recognized indicator of excessive crankcase pressure, which NHTSA has identified as a precursor to sudden engine stalling and fire risks in 3.0L EcoDiesel engines (Ref: Recall 19V-757).

The 3.6L Pentastar V6 oil filter housing assembly (found on 2011-2023+ Jeep, Dodge, Ram, Chrysler) is a common failure point where the plastic housing cracks, causing oil leaks, coolant contamination, and overheating. Replacing it with an upgraded aluminum unit is highly recommended for durability. The assembly is located under the intake manifold and requires removing the upper intake plenum and several components for access. Key Details for Replacement Common Failure: The OEM plastic housing becomes brittle from heat cycles, leading to oil/coolant leaks in the engine's valley. Upgrade Option: Upgrading to an all-aluminum housing prevents future cracks. Required Parts: New assembly (e.g., Dorman 926-959, 926-876 or Mopar 68596317AB/68596318AB), new O-rings (should be included), and new intake manifold gaskets. Process: Requires removing the upper intake manifold, removing the old housing (held by 5 E8 Torx screws), and cleaning the engine valley before installing the new unit.

The ABS control module and Hydraulic Control module are faulty and available for inspection. My safety is at risk because the vehicle will go into a skid upon hard braking (ABS not fuctioning), the vehicle will spin tires upon acceleration (traction control inoperative). The above listed components have been determined faulty by both the dealership and an independent service center. The component is on national backorder (according to the dealership) due to how common this issue is. The ABS, traction control, and brake light stay illuminated as well as the dashboard "message center". I'm in disbelief of there not being a recall for something so dangerous. I travel for work and tow my travel trailer and now am unable to do so safely. The fact that the modules are on backorder is a testament to how common this issue is.

Went to do the 10000 mile maintenance, after the oil change and changing all the filters. The truck wouldn’t start, had a mechanic look at it and he said it’s a faulty fuel pump. Called the dealership as there is a recall for that part and it was serviced less than two years ago. So it’s covered under that and the recall warranty. The dealership is refusing to fix the truck, Chrysler customer care in Canada says it’s the U.S. office’s problem and they have to do it. U.S. office says I have to find a broker to switch the marketplace to the U.S.. Have called 40 places and no one including the dealerships knows what they are talking about with the broker. So now I have a truck I’ve owned for less than six months that needs possibly a 3000 dollar repair. That they should be doing free of charge.

1The roller valve on the gas tank 2Roller valve is stuck in the closed position, causing a hazard when trying to refill gas tank. 3Dealer wrote up a repair sheet, cost of $1600.00+ . I was told they had other trucks in with the same problem and only way to fix is replacing the whole gas tank. 4No it has not been inspected, all my info is from employees that write up the work order.. 5Have been having this problem since August 2025. 6 I feel this is a safety item that should be covered by the manufacturer just like an air bag or any other vehicle safety device. It is a very poor design in its self that makes it a hazard.

I bought this truck 11/13/2025 and it has been in the shop since I bought it. It’s been “fixed” 4 times, including replacing the fuel pump. The vehicle is still stalling out and the same check engine code po62A keeps popping up. The engine light has popped up right after I’ve picked it up from the mechanic every time. It’s been to 3 different mechanics and no one can seem to fix the issue. It has become unsafe for me to drive. The dealership is no longer returner my calls or helping with these issues. I’m stuck paying off a vehicle that isn’t properly running.

Cannot put gas in tank without the gas pump continuously shutting off the flow. Was told by Dodge technicians that it was a faulty roll-over valve ( believe this is a safety item ) in the gas tank. Was told the only way to fix it is to replace the gas tank. They have had other dodge trucks in for the same problem. Being this is a safety item ( keeps gas from spilling out during a roll-over accident) I would think there should be a recall to repair. If possible could you also give me information on how to contact Dodge headquarters to register a complaint. This is a 1600.00 fix that I feel I should not be held responsible for. There are no warning lights accompanying this. Techs at JOHNSONS AND SONS dodge dealer in Wis. Rapids, WI. have recommended replacement to fix the problem. Thanks in advance for your attention to this matter it is appreciated.

The contact stated that while the vehicle was stationary and turned off, the driver’s side side-curtain air bag deployed while the rear passenger’s side seat was occupied. The security camera video footage displayed smoke and there was the sound of an explosion when the air bag deployed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and the dealer was contacted and notified of the failure. The cylinder that deploys the side curtain on the back passenger side spontaneously blew up in my truck. The vehicle was not currently being operated or on at the time is was parked in the driveway and was completely off. There was no forced entry and no collision it just spontaneously exploded causing roof damage, electrical damage, ceiling damage and cab light damage. The vehicle is currently parked at the dealership and has been verified by dealership that it was a mechanical malfunction with the airbag cylinder. There was no warnings that I was aware of before it exploded since it was just sitting in the driveway but from the information that was given to me by the dealerships this was an issue that fell under the Takata Airbag recalls in 2021. The only warning lights is when you start it up the airbag check system light is on the dashboard. This issue has caused me to never want to put my family in that truck again because thank god none of us were in it when it happened but this could have happened to anyone and thankfully we were not driving down the road or even in the vehicle at all. This is a major safety issue.

I am the owner of a 2019 Ram 1500. An airbag deployment incident occurred and Stellantis initiated an investigation into the airbag system. During that investigation, Stellantis and/or its contractor Bosch extracted Event Data Recorder (EDR) crash data from the vehicle's airbag control module using Bosch Crash Data Retrieval (CDR) equipment. Despite multiple requests, Stellantis has refused to provide the extracted EDR data to the vehicle owner. Under Texas Transportation Code §547.615, information recorded by an Event Data Recorder in a motor vehicle is the property of the vehicle owner. The data was taken from my vehicle, yet the manufacturer is refusing to release the information. Because this data relates directly to the airbag system and crash safety systems of the vehicle, I am requesting that NHTSA review this matter and determine whether the manufacturer is improperly withholding safety-related crash data from the vehicle owner.

The exact failed component has not yet been identified. The malfunction appeared to involve the vehicle’s electrical, communication/network, ignition or starting system. The vehicle and its components remain available for inspection upon request. On Friday, August 21, 2026, while driving my 2019 RAM 1500 Classic Tradesman with approximately 108,320 miles, the vehicle’s electronics suddenly began behaving erratically. As I braked and slowed nearly to a stop, the engine shut off. Parts of the dashboard remained illuminated, but the engine would not crank or restart. After approximately one minute, the electronics returned to normal and the vehicle started again. The truck then operated for the remainder of the drive. This created a safety risk because the vehicle shut off unexpectedly while it was still moving and temporarily could not be restarted. A similar electrical shutdown occurred on February 13, 2026, when the displays flashed, the HVAC cycled, vehicle power was lost and the key became stuck. The vehicle restarted after approximately five to ten minutes during that incident. The current problem has not yet been reproduced, confirmed or diagnosed by a dealer or independent service center. To the best of my knowledge, it has not yet been inspected by the manufacturer, police, an insurance representative or another organization. There was no advance warning before the electronics began malfunctioning during the August incident. The erratic electronics were the first symptom immediately before the shutdown. The dashboard remained partially illuminated during the no-crank period, but I do not recall the exact warning messages or lamps displayed. The vehicle’s VIN currently shows zero unrepaired safety recalls in NHTSA’s lookup.

Hello my name is [XXX] , current owner of a 2019 Ram 1500 classic vin# [XXX] On 3-20-2026 As I was driving on I-10 with my family on the 3rd lane driving steady on a stop and go traffic. My vehicle lost complete power shutting down giving me little time to pull off to the left media. When I came to a full stop I immediately shift gear to parking and turned ignition key off. I proceeded to restart the engine but wouldn’t start. As I noticed a red bolt like light on the cluster no sound of any engine or click nothing at all . On the 3rd attempt the engine successfully turned on and proceeded to driving. My primary question to my concern is if there’s any possible recalls related to this issue? The truck is out of warranty. I spoke to a Ram service adviser [XXX] at [XXX] and states mopar wont cover into fixing the problem the because it’s an 7 year old vehicle and out of warranty . I would have to pay for the diagnostic of $190 . I after my research on google facts that there’s been recalls on this matter on 2019 rams . I shouldn’t be charged for a diagnosis if this a recall matter. Thank you in advance for correspondent and taking the time to read my concern. It completely powered off and took 2 minutes to power back on. We were blocking a one lane road. It then showed a check engine light that went away after a few days. My 2019 RAM 1500 diesel (built 12/12/2019 is included in Recall 23V-411 for tone wheel delamination. My tone wheel has failed (confirmed by technician). Stellantis provides free tone wheel replacement under Recall 73A for 2014 and 2016 models but excludes 2015/2017/2018/2019 models despite having the identical defect from the same supplier. I received only Recall 66A (software) which did not prevent failure. Stellantis now wants me to pay $3,037 to replace the defective part they replace free in other model years. This discriminatory recall remedy is inadequate and unjust.

My 2019 Ram 1500 has had a failed ABS control module for several months, which disables critical safety features including ABS, traction control, and cruise control. While entering the interstate on an on-ramp during light rain and under normal driving conditions, the loss of traction control contributed to a sudden loss of stability, causing the rear of the truck to break loose and the vehicle to spin. No other vehicles were involved, but the situation created a serious safety hazard and could have resulted in a crash. The vehicle continues to operate without these safety systems, significantly impairing safe handling and braking. I have been informed that the required replacement module is on extended backorder with no estimated availability, leaving the vehicle in an unsafe condition for an extended period of time.

Had it diagnosed to find it has a bad sensor in the seatbelt pretensioner that is stopping the passenger airbag from deploying and the seatbelt from locking. I've called Stelantis and they offer no help as if it becomes a recall in the future they will possibly reimburse me they say.

Water is leaking into the cab of the truck from the back window. Took the vehicle to dodge and they stated it was an issue with the window and seal and it shouldn't have failed like this. Declined warranty because it isn't covered past 12k miles. Customer service via phone call on 5-17-21 stated windows are similar to brakes and windshield wipers as they wear out and that makes it not a manufacturers issues. The water damage is severe and causes a moldy smell and could comprise the live wires in the third brake light. There was no warnings and there isn't anything caused by the user. This seems to be a known problem that others have reported to the nhtsa and on message boards monitored by Dodge Inc. Seat belts by the water damage had to replaced as they were locking up randomly causing child restraint to get too tight.

If this had happened at higher speed could have been very bad, could have killed me or others. As it was the tire caused over $2000 damage to the truck - inner fender well and fender etc...These were original tires that came on the truck new had about 31,000miles on them. Still have the tire and it can be inspected.

STARTED WITH TELLING ME MY TIRE WAS FLAT. I PULLED OVER ON THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY WHICH IS DANGEROUS AND THE TIRE WAS FULL OF AIR. THEN TOLD ME ELCECTROIC BRAKES NEEDED TO BE SERVICED. NOT TOO LONG AFTER THAT IT KEPT TELLING ME THE FOUR WHEEL DRIVE IS NOT WORKING. I HAVE NEVER PUT THE TRUCK IN FOUR WHEEL DRIVE. ALSO THE ABS SERVICE LIGHT WAS FLASHING. TOOK IT BACK TO DEALERSHIP 4 DAYS AFTER I BOUGHT IT AND THEY TOOK IT INTO THEIR SHOP AND 'FIXED' IT IN A FEW MINUTES. VERY NEXT DAY EVERYTHING STARTED AGAIN. TOOK IT BACK TO DEALERSHIP AND THEY HAVE KEPT IT OVER THE WEEKEND. WHEN I CALLED THEM AT LUNCH ON FRIDAY TELLING THEM I WAS BRINGING IT BACK THEY ASKED ME TO WAIT TIL NEXT WEEK TO BRING IT. THIS IS THEIR SECOND CHANCE TO GET IT RIGHT. IT HAS BEEN A NIGHTMARE. I BOUGHT A TRUCK BECAUSE I HAVE A SMALL FARM AND I NEED IT TO FEED AND WATER MY ANIMALS. THEY HAVE HAD TO GO WITHOUT WATER ONE DAY BECAUSE I HAVEN'T HAD MY TRUCK 3 OUT OF THE FIRST EIGHT DAYS AFTER BUYING IT. ALSO THEY DIDN'T WANT TO GIVE ME A RECEIPT FROM WHEN I BROUGHT IT THE FIRST TIME UNTIL I HAD TOLD THEM I HAD ALREADY CALLED THE AG OFFICE.
